午前三時に眠ったティーンネージャーが正午に起きる時、「あぁ、今日起きることが出来たのは神の恵みだなぁー」とは思いません。私達の教会の外階段を三段飛び越して教会にくる若者が「あぁ、今日、教会に来れたのは神の恵みだ」とは言いません。

私は毎朝、床の上で目覚めてからしばらくそこで体を動かしたり、マッサージをしないと起き上がれない姉を知っています。私は日曜日の朝、オフィスの窓から一歩一歩、スロープの手すりに捕まりながら、礼拝堂に入っていく方々の姿を見ます。この方達にとりまして朝、目覚めて床から起き上がることは神の恵みです。日曜日に来るために数日前から体調を整えて、何事もなく会堂の椅子に座わって礼拝を捧げることができる、それがこの方達には神の恵みです。

神の恵みを知る者達
コリント第二の手紙４章１６節-１８節

今日、こうして日英合同で敬老の日をお祝いし、礼拝をもつことができますことを感謝します。

聖書は興味深いものです。創世記において人は８５０歳とか９２０歳まで生きたと書かれています。もしこの基準で生きていくとしたら私達はあと何年、生きることになるでしょうか。ちなみに私には少なくともあと８００年ほどあります。

それがどんな人生になるのか想像できませんが、おそらく人が１００年の間に経験することを八回繰り返すような人生ではないかと思います。言い方を変えますのなら私達は現在、与えられている寿命でだいたい人としての体験を一通りしているのではないかと思われます。そう考えますなら私は既にこの人生で十分のように感じます。それを八回繰り返すのはきついかなと・・・。皆さんはいかがですか。

聖書の創世記からヨハネの黙示録にいたるまでの大きなスパンで私達の世界を眺めると気がつかされることがあります。それは創世記において神様がこの世界を創造された時、神はその世界をながめ、このようなコメントを述べているということです。「神が造ったすべての物を見られたところ、それは、はなはだ良かった」（創世記１章３１節）。そしてヨハネの黙示録の最後には私達に備えられている新天新地がどんなに神の栄光に満ちた素晴らしいところであるかが記されています。

そうです、聖書はこの世界の初めははなはだよく、終わりにも素晴らしいものがあるというのです。すなわち、少なくとも私達はその最後については心配をしなくてもいいというわけでありまして、これは私達にとりましてかけがえのない希望です。しかし、実際のところ、その間を生きる私達の生活はどうですか。毎日、「はなはだいい」と言うことができますか。

ご存知ですか。日本人とアメリカ人にはイクスプレッションに違いがあることを。日本からアメリカに来た者達がまず気がつくことは、こちらではやたらと「スーパー！」とか「エクセレント！」とか「ファビラス！」と言っているということです。この国では幼子がバッドにボールをあてると、それは「エクセレント！」なのですが、日本人にとりまして「エクセレント！」はイチローがピートローズの記録を破る時に使う言葉なのです。

個人的な意見を言わせてもらえば、私はどうせ日々を生きるのなら、アメリカに倣い、何事にも「スーパー！」とか「エクセレント！」と上機嫌でいたほうがいいように思います。しかし、ここで皆さんにお聞きしたのですが、皆さんの生活は毎日、スーパーですか。毎日、エクセレントですか。

・・・いいえ、日々、色々なことがあります。ここに来る前にエンジンオイルのライトがついた方いませんか。今週は気になるチェックアップがあるという方。明日のビジネスミーティングのことを考えると胃が痛くなるという方いませんか。自分の将来はどうなるのだろうかという心配が心から離れないという方いませんか。

モーセは自身の人生について言いあらわしました『われらのよわいは七十年にすぎません。あるいは健やかであっても八十年でしょう。しかしその一生はただ、ほねおりと悩みであって、その過ぎゆくことは速く、われらは飛び去るのです』（詩篇９０篇１０節）。皆さんはこのように感じていませんか？

そこで今日は敬老の日ということもふまえてコリント第二の手紙から二つのことをお話しさせていただきます。まず、その箇所を読ませていただきます。

「だから私達は落胆しない。たとい私達の外なる人は滅びても、内なる人は日毎に新しくされていく。なぜなら、このしばらくの軽い艱難は働いて、永遠の重い栄光を、あふれるばかりに私達に得させるからである。私達は見えるものにではなく、見えないものに目を注ぐ。見えるものは一時的であり、見えないものは永遠に続くのである」（Ⅱコリント４章１６節‐１８節）。

このところからまず肉体の変化ということについてお話しをさせていただきます。

肉体の変化:  「たとい私達の外なる人は滅びても」

半年ほど前から老眼鏡が必要となりました。本当に字が見えないのです。話には聞いていたのですが、まさか自分の体にそんなことが起こるとは思いませんでした。老眼鏡をつけることにより、また別の体の変化を発見しました。老眼鏡をどこに置いたのか思い出せないのです。なぜコスコでは老眼鏡が三つセットで売っているのかということが身を持ってよくわかりました。主にある兄弟姉妹、教会にはよく眼鏡の忘れ物がありますので取りに来てください。

これらのことは私だけに限ったことではなくて、どなたも体験していることではないかと思います。忘れっぽくなるといえば、インターネットを使っていますと、やたらとパスワードというものを作らなければならなくなります。私もクレジットカード、バンクアカウント、ソシャルセキュリティー、航空会社のマイレージ、フェイマス・フットウエアーなどなど１０ほどのアカウントがあり、その一つ一つにパスワードがあり、それらを私は全て別紙に控えています。なぜなら、これらを忘れるということに私は揺るぎない自信をもっているからです。

しかし、そのあたりよく出来ていましてパスワードを忘れた時のために、それが本人かを確認するためにアカウントを作る前に誰も知らない個人的な質問と答えをセットすることができるのです。小学校時代の先生の名前は何か。最初に乗った車の車種は何か。しかしながら、質問と答えを自分で選んで登録しておきながら、小学校といえども色々な先生がおり、また車と言えどもトヨタなのか、カローラなのか忘れてしまうのです。

そんな時、ある方からいいことを教わりました。ここだけの話ですが、パスワードはどれもI・ N・ C・ O・ R・ R・ E・ C・ T にすればいいというのです。これですと私達がこのパスワードを忘れてしまっても大丈夫だというのです。

私達がこのパスワードを忘れてしまって、もし間違ったパスワードを入力してしまっても、すぐにコンピューターが親切に教えてくれるのです。

かつては見えていたもの、覚えていたこと、持ち上げることができたもの、かつては行けていた場所、それらが失われていくことは悲しいことです。なぜ、神様はこのような肉体を私達に与えておられるのでしょうか。なぜ、私達の体は年を重ねるごとに肉体に力が与えられずにかえって老いていくのでしょうか。

伝道の書３章１節には「天が下のすべての事には季節があり、すべてのわざには時がある」と書かれています。私達の世界に季節があるように、私達の人生にも四季があるとはよく言われることです。春、夏、秋、冬。皆さんは今、どの季節にいるでしょうか。

私達が若い時、それは春であり、夏なのかもしれません。そこには目を見張る成長があり、躍動があります。しかし、秋、冬となると日が短くなり、夜が長くなる、葉は落ちる、北風は吹く、熊は冬眠にはいると、そこに成長、新鮮さ、活発な活動を見いだすことができなくなります。ナゼ、神はこのように人の営みにも季節を定められたのでしょうか。

私達は見落としかちなのですが、若い人と年を重ねていく人との間には大きな違いがあります。それは私達が年を重ねていくと「神の恵み」ということに日毎に気がついていくのです。私達の肉体的な力がそぎ落とされていくということは、それだけ神の恵みに私達が心を向けていくことになるのです。

このように年を重ねていきますと私達は「神の恵み」に対してとても敏感になるのです。そして、皆さん、お忘れではないですか。私達が目指すべきキリスト者の究極的な姿は日ごとに神の恵みを知り、神に委ね、イエス・キリストと共に生きることだということを！

聖書は私達がどんどん人間的に強い人になれとか、なんでもできるようになれとはいっていません。そうではなくて聖書のメッセージは神がくださる日毎の恵み感謝し、その神様のあなた自身を委ねなさいということ、それを目指しているのです。

今日の箇所を書いたパウロもそのことをしっかりと理解していたのでしょう。Ⅱコリント１２章９節に恵みについてこう書いているのです。「わたしの恵 みはあなたに対して十分である。わたしの力は弱いところに完全にあらわれる。それだから、キリストの力が、わたしに宿るように、むしろ、喜んで自分の弱さを誇ろう」（Ⅱコリント１２章９節）。

私達が歳をとるということは、弱いところが増えるということです。７５歳の方が１８歳の時よりも今の方が体力があり、走るのも早くなったということはありえません。確かに私達の肉体は弱くなる。しかし、神の恵みは私達に対して十分であり、その神の力は私達の弱いところに完全にあらわれるというのです。

神様がいよいよ私達を完成させようとする時に、神様はそれまで私達がより頼んでいたものを一つ一つ取り去っていきます。そうすることにより、私達は神の恵みについて広く、深く知ることができるようになるのです。まさしく、それは私達が神の作品として完成に近づく時なのです。

二つ目のことを見てまいりましょう。それは私達の心の変化ということです。

心の変化：内なる人は日毎に新しくされていく

二つ目のこと、それは私達の心に起こる変化ということです。私達が歳をとるとその心はどうなるのでしょうか。歳をとるということは経験を積むことであり、一般的にはその経験によって私達は賢くなっていくものです。しかし、それと同時に私達は歳をとることにより、だんだんと希望というものを失うことがあります。

先ほど、お話した四季のように、春はこれからツボミから花が咲く希望があり、夏であるならば葉を伸ばし、ぐんぐん成長していく希望があります。しかし、秋になると葉が落ちてくる。そして待ち受けている冬には全ての木々から葉は落ちていくのです。

今日、開かれている手紙において、パウロはそのことを「落胆」という言葉で表しました。確かにそうです。その季節の移りかわりに対して私達の思いを寄せるならば、多くの人生経験を積んだとしても、歳をとっていくということは、やはり私達にとって時に希望を失わさせるものでもあるのです。ましてや、先ほど申し上げたように肉体が衰えてくるという事は、明らかに私達の心の持ちようにも大きな影響があるわけです。

それでは聖書が言っている歳を取るという事はどういうことなのでしょうか？もう一度、パウロの言葉を読んでみましょう「だから私達は落胆しない。たとい私達の外なる人は滅びても、内なる人は日毎に新しくされていく。」（Ⅱコリント４章１６節）。

形あるものは確かに衰えていく。それが生きとし生けるものが向かう道です。しかし、心は反対に日毎に新しくされていく、自ら新しくなるのではなくて、新しく変えられていくというのです。何によってでしょうか、神の恵みによってです。預言者エレミヤが哀歌の中で言っているではありませんか。

22主のいつくしみは絶えることがなく、そのあわれみは尽きることがない。23これは朝ごとに新しく、あなたの真実は大きい（哀歌３章２２節－２３節）。

私達の肉体に弱さを見出していく時に、今まで気がつかなかった神の恵みに気がつかされます。まさしくこの哀歌の言葉がいうところの意味、すなわち朝毎に新しい神様のあわれみといつくしみが私の上に尽きることなく注がれている、あなたの真実はなんと大きいのでしょうかということが人生の中で本当に日々の実感の中で分かるようになるのはその晩年なのです。それゆえにパウロは私は落胆しないと言ったのです。

こんなことあり得るのでしょうか。外が衰えたら、内も衰えてしまうということなら分る。しかし、外は確かに衰えるけれど、内は新しくされるなんて。

日本が江戸時代から明治時代に移り変わる前に高杉晋作という侍がいました。彼は奇兵隊という庶民からなる軍隊を結成し、徳川幕府を倒した一人の功労者ですが、若干２７歳で肺結核により死にます。その彼が死ぬ間際に呼んだ詩にこのような言葉があります。

「おもしろき　こともなき世を　おもしろく」

そして実はこの句には続きがありまして、高杉の活動を支援し、その病床に伏してい看病をしていた女流歌人であった野村望東尼（のむらぼうとうに）が「すみなすものは　心なりけり」と付け加えたというのです。言うまでもなく、この意味はこの世を趣のある場所とするか否かは、あなたの心次第だということです。

彼が２７歳で火の玉が燃え尽きるように死んでいったという背景に、まさしくこの句に生きようとした彼の心を見ることができます。彼らはクリスチャンではありませんが、この句は私にとって記憶すべき大切な言葉となりました。

そして、この高杉と野村の歌が作られる何千年も前に同じことを言っている人が 。そうです、イスラエル三代目の王、ソロモンです。彼はこう言いました。「あなたの若い日に、あなたの造り主を覚えなさい。悪しき日がきたり、年が寄って、「私にはなんの楽しみもない」と言うようにならないうちに、そのようにせよ」（伝道の書１２章１節）

私達はその心で覚えます。私達は心で神の新しい恵みが朝ごとに私達に与えられているということを覚えるのです。私達はその恵みの中に喜びを見出すのです。楽しみを見出すのです。そして、このことは私達にかかっているのです、そう、あなたの心にかかっているのです。

ここには若い人もたくさんいます。どうか若いうちにキリストと出会ってください。そして、キリストの上に生涯のプランをたててください。皆さんは年をとるなんて考えていないと思いますが、必ず年をとります。その時、自分は神の恵みの中を生き、神の作品として完成に近づいてるのだということを思い起こしてください。

既にその人生の晩年にある兄弟姉妹、私達の肉体は衰えます。しかし、自分の力がそぎ落されていることを嘆き悲しむのではなくて、その中にある神の恵みに目を向けてみましょう。主の恵みを数えてみましょう。その時に私達の心は日ごとに新しくされ、そこに感謝と喜びすら生まれてくるのです。それは私達の心にかかっているのです。このように生きていく時に私達が日毎にどのように変えられていくのか、聖書は書いているではありませんか。

 『わたしたちは皆、顔おおいなしに、主の栄光を鏡に映すように見つつ、栄光から栄光へと、主と同じ姿に変えられていく。これは霊なる主の働きによるのである』（第二コリント３章１８節）

聖書の約束は私達が年を重ねれば重ねるほどに、その福音の真髄を経験できるようにされるということです。それは、私達がますます神の恵みを知ることができるということなのです。

ゼカリヤ書１４章７節には「夕暮れ時に、光がある」と書かれています。その光は私達が最後に招かれている世界からの木漏れ日です。そうです、それは神の栄光の光です。

それまで自分の力と度量により頼んでいた私達が、全く神と共に歩む、神に委ねて歩んでいく。そのような生涯を夕暮れの黄金の光になぞらえて言うことは誇張でしょうか。いいえ、それこそがバイブルが私達に語りかけていることなのです。お祈りしましょう。

Those Who Know the Grace of God

We thank God that we celebrate our Keiro Sunday today. This is a Japanese holiday that honors the elderly, and our church celebrates this holiday each year.

The Bible writes of many interesting things, and one example is the recording of human longevity as long as 850 or 920 years as mentioned in the book of Genesis. If this were to be the length of our lives now, how many more years would we live? For me it would be at least 800 more years.

I cannot imagine what the 800 years would be like, but probably I would repeat the same experiences eight times over. Which means I believe we cover most of what human experience has to offer in our first 100 years. It would be tough for me to repeat that same kind of experience eight times. What about for you?

When we look at the first book of the Bible, we find when God created this world, it says ³¹ God saw all that he had made, and it was very good (Genesis 1:31). And when we look at the last book in Revelation, this book shows us how the New Earth will be filled with God’s glory.

Yes, the Bible says at the beginning that the creation was very good, and at the end that we are going to face the glory of God as our final destination. But how is our life right now? Can you say right now that it is very good or that it is always filled with God’s glory?

Do you know American and Japanese have different ways to things? When we Japanese come to this country, we realize American people quite often say “Super!”, “Excellent” and “Fabulous!” For Americans, it is “Excellent” when a little child hits the ball on the baseball bat, but for Japanese, we say “Excellent!’ for things like Ichiro Suzuki breaking the career hit record of Pete Rose”.

And if I state my personal opinion, I would like to follow the American way and want to always be a positive and cheerful man. But I want to ask all of you… are you always super? Are you always excellent and cheerful?

….No…, we have so many things we face every day. Is there anyone who had their engine light on while driving to church today? Anyone who is going to have an important physical checkup this week? Anyone who feels their stomach ache when they think about tomorrow’s business meeting? Are you worried about your future?

Moses mentioned about our life: Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away (Psalm 90:10).　Are you feeling the same as Moses was feeling?

Well, then, considering today is Keiro Sunday, now I would like to share the words of God from 2 Corinthians 4:16-18.

¹⁶ Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. ¹⁷ For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. ¹⁸ So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:16-18).

First of all, I would like to focus about the changes of our body.

The change of our body: Though outwardly we are wasting away

I started wearing reading glasses six months ago. Yes, I cannot read the words without them. I knew about such a thing, but I never thought that it would happen to me. And as I get older I also face another challenge in my life. I can’t remember where I put my reading glasses! Now I really understand why Costco sells reading glasses in a three-pack. Brothers and sisters, sometimes I find reading glass at our church. If you’re missing yours, please check lost and found and take them home with you.

It is not only me but many of you who also have similar experiences. Speaking of forgetting, we know we have to create many passwords for our computer accounts or websites such as credit cards, bank accounts, social security, airline mileage, famous footwear and so on. I have more than ten accounts, and set passwords for each one of these, and to tell the truth, I actually keep these passwords in my notepad because I am confident that I will forget the passwords.

We know there are many people who forget their passwords, and because of that, we also set our personal question and answer which is only known to ourselves. What was your teacher’s name at elementary school? What make was your first car? I chose those questions and set the answers for them, but when I needed to answer those questions, I asked myself, well which teacher’s name? There were so many teachers at my elementary school. For the cars I had to ask myself did I answer Toyota or Corolla? I forgot. This is kind of a sad moment.

One day, I found the good solution to these passwords. This is my secret, so I’ll tell only you. The best password we should have is I・N・C・O・R・R・E・C・T.

Even though we forgot the password and type in wrong one, our computer always kindly teaches us our passwords.

Once we could see, we could remember, we could lift and we could go, but now as we age we cannot do that anymore, and that is kind of sad. Why does God allow us to keep this kind of body? Why are we losing our strength as we get old?

In the book of Ecclesiastes 3:1 it says “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens”.  Like our world around us has seasons, our life also has seasons. Spring, summer, fall and winter – where are you now?

We say of our younger age, it is like spring and summer. There is growth and lively vivid activities. But when fall and winter come, the daylight becomes short. Leaves fall, the cold wind blows and bears sleep in caves. Yes, these seasons are not for growth and vivid activities. Yet why does God set seasons like this in our life?

There is difference between elders and youth, and sometimes we miss knowing the difference. Specifically, the eyes of elders are more open to the grace of God. When our physical strength is deteriorating, we are more focused on God’s grace. We appreciate more all the little things our Creator provides for us each day.

Teenagers who go to sleep at 3am and wake up at noon usually do not say when they wake up, “what a grace God gives me to wake me up today!” Those young people who skip three steps up our church entrance and come to the sanctuary will not usually say, “What a grace God has that I could come to church today.”

Yet… I know the elder sister who has to massage on her body in bed in order to get up from there every morning. I see the elder folks coming to service who have to grab the handrail to walk carefully up the stairs or ramp. They know they are living by God’s grace every day.

When we are getting old we are more sensitive to God’s grace, and don’t we forget that the ultimate goal of our life – to know God’s grace, to rely on Him and to walk with Jesus.

When we read the Bible, we know the Bible does not want us to always focus on being a strong man or being the type of person who feels they can do anything by their own power. Rather we are to seek and find the grace of God, and to come and rely on God. That is our goal!

Paul must have really understood this as he said in 2 Corinthians 12:9; ⁹ But God said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

When we get old, our physical weakness will be noticed in many ways, because we’ve used our body for many years. We never hear of a 75 year old man who can run faster than an 18 year old man. Surely our body is getting weak, but God’s grace is always sufficient for us, and God’s power will reveal itself through our weakness.

Sometimes our self-confidence will prevent us from being the masterpiece God desires because we spend years relying on ourselves and not God. The knowledge that He is our potter and we are the clay to His pottery has not yet penetrated our heart. But hopefully in time we will come to know how wide and long and high and deep is the grace of God. This is the moment that we will know we are getting near to the completion of His work in us.

Let us look at the second point which is the change of our heart.

The Change of our heart: yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

The second point is the change that takes place in our heart. When we get old, what happens in our heart? While aging equals rich experience, and generally speaking we become wiser by that experience, we can lose our hope in aging.

As I mention earlier, the flower blossoms from the bud in spring, and the leaves grow in summer. We are seeing hope in it because it is growing, but when fall comes, the leaves start falling and by winter all the leaves are gone.

Paul encourages us “not to lose heart” when we face these kind of seasons. Yet when we see the change of seasons like summer to fall, and fall to winter, we may lose heart sometimes. Especially when we lose our physical strength it will influence our heart.

But what does the Bible say about our aging? Let us read the 2 Corinthians 4:16 “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day” (2 Corinthians 4:16-18).

Every visible thing will perish including our body. That is the way all things have to follow, but our heart will be renewed day by day. By what? Yes, it is by the grace of God. The prophet Jeremiah said in the Book of Lamentations.

²² Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail.²³ They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.  (Lamentations 3:22-23)

When we find the weakness of our body, we will find the grace of God which we never knew before, and find what the words of Lamentations are saying,” They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness”. This will more likely happen when we get old. That’s why Paul said “we do not lose heart”.

Is this possible? One would think that as the outside is wasting away the inside would also be deteriorating. But who could imagine how your inside could be renewed even while your outside is decaying?

There was a Samurai in Japan in the time of transition from the Edo era to the Meiji era. His name was Shinsaku Takasugi and he was a reformer. Takasugi devoted his life to ending the era of the Tokugawa Shogunate (Edo Bakufu).

He built the army called the Kiheitai. This army was composed not only of soldiers but also of ordinary people like farmers, carpenters and merchants. They were trained and fought the Shogunate. Yet Takasugi died at the age of 27 of pulmonary tuberculosis. At his last days he wrote a poem from his sickbed. It included the words:

“Live a pleasant life in the unpleasant world” To this poem was added the words of the female poet, Nomura Butoni who supported Takasugi and was beside him at his death. . To the words “Live a pleasant life in the unpleasant world”, she added “but it depends on our heart”.

It is up to you whether this world will be pleasant place or not. Takasugi lived with devotion and passion, and died at the age of 27 as a ball of fire burning and extinguishing itself. We can imagine how he aspired to live in the spirit of his poem. He and Nomura Butoni were not Chrisitan, but this poem has come to be very meaningful to me and one to be long remembered.

There was a man in Israel who said same kind of thing a couple of thousands years ago. Yes,the third king of Israel, Solomon said in the book of Ecclesiastes 12:1

 Remember your Creator
in the days of your youth,
before the days of trouble come
and the years approach when you will say,
“I find no pleasure in them”—

We remember in our heart, we remember our Creator who gives us new grace every morning. We find the joy in His grace. It is up to us, it depends on our heart.

There are young people here. Our wish and prayer for you is that you will know God when you are young, and build your life on God. I do not imagine you are thinking about aging yet, but when that day will come, please remember that you live in the grace of God and will become complete as His masterpiece .

And my brothers and sisters who are now in the elderly season, surely our physical strength will not be like when we are young, but please do not lose heart, please focus on the grace of almighty God. Let us count His blessings to us. They are renewed every day, and our heart can be filled with gratitude and joy, but this is up to us as we try to live that pleasant life in a not so pleasant world. The Bible promises how we are going to be renewed every day.

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.(2 Corinthians 3:18)。

The promise of the Bible is that when we are getting old, we will experience the essence of the gospel. We will know His grace.

The book of Zechariah said, “When evening comes, there will be light” . (Zechariah 14:7). This is the light filtering through our final destination, yes it is the light of His glory. 

In younger days we may have been walking by our own strength and relied on it, but now we walk with the grace of God and rely on Him. The Bible said that this time of life is like the golden light of dusk, and it will never go out but shine upon us until the end of our days. Is this an exaggeration? No, this is the promise of the Bible. Let’s pray.

１）あなたは今人生のどんなシーズンにいますか。あなたはどんな人生の晩年を迎えたいですか。

 

２）詩篇９０篇１０節を読みましょう。このモーセの言葉にあなたは同意しますか。しませんか。なぜでしょうか。

 

３）Ⅱコリント４章１６節－１８節を読みましょう。加齢と共に私達の肉体は必ず衰えます。しかし、パウロは内なる人は日毎に新しくされていくと言いました。このことはどのようにして可能になるのでしょうか。

 

４）あなたは「老いる」ということをどのように受け止めていますか。聖書は何と言っていますか。

 

５）「神様の恵み」はなぜ、年をとればとるほどに知りやすくなるのでしょうか。あなたは老いの中に、どんな神様の恵みを見出すことができますか。

 

６）聖書は自分の力とか功績よりも神の恵みの中、毎日、生きるということを大切なこととします。このことから老いるということに、どんな光が照らされますか。

 

７）「内なる人は日毎に新しくされていく」（Ⅱコリント４章１６節）ということはどういうことでしょうか。哀歌３章２２節－２３節から神の恵みは朝ごとに新しいということはどういうことでしょうか。
