This afternoon, millions and possibly more than a billion people worldwide will be watching the Super Bowl.\u3000 \u672c\u65e5\u5348\u5f8c\u3001\u4e16\u754c\u4e2d\u3067\u6570\u767e\u4e07\u3001\u304a\u305d\u3089\u304f\uff11\uff10\u5104\u4eba\u4ee5\u4e0a\u304c\u30b9\u30fc\u30d1\u30fc\u30dc\u30a6\u30eb\u3092\u89b3\u6226\u3057\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Some of you may be planning to watch the game at a watch party at a friend\u2019s house.\u3000 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u3000\u3000\u53cb\u4eba\u5b85\u3067\u306e\u89b3\u6226\u30d1\u30fc\u30c6\u30a3\u30fc\u3067\u8a66\u5408\u3092\u898b\u308b\u4e88\u5b9a\u306e\u65b9\u3082\u3044\u3089\u3063\u3057\u3083\u308b\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046\u3002<\/p>\n

The host of such a party can be quite busy getting snacks and drinks ready for the guests.\u3000 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u305d\u306e\u3088\u3046\u306a\u30d1\u30fc\u30c6\u30a3\u30fc\u306e\u4e3b\u50ac\u8005\u306f\u3001\u30b2\u30b9\u30c8\u7528\u306b\u8efd\u98df\u3084\u98f2\u307f\u7269\u3092\u6e96\u5099\u3059\u308b\u306e\u306b\u5927\u5fd9\u3057\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Here in our church, we will enjoy our own Souper Bowl lunch after this worship service.\u3000 \u3000\u3000 \u5f53\u6559\u4f1a\u3067\u306f\u3001\u793c\u62dd\u5f8c\u306b\u300c\u30b9\u30fc\u30d1\u30dc\u30a6\u30eb\u300d\u30e9\u30f3\u30c1\u3092\u697d\u3057\u307f\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

And many of you were probably quite busy preparing the hot and delicious soups that we will be enjoying for this lunch.\u3000 \u7686\u3055\u3093\u306e\u4e2d\u306b\u3082\u3001\u3053\u306e\u30e9\u30f3\u30c1\u3067\u5473\u308f\u3046\u6e29\u304b\u304f\u3066\u7f8e\u5473\u3057\u3044\u30b9\u30fc\u30d7\u306e\u6e96\u5099\u306b\u5fd9\u3057\u304b\u3063\u305f\u65b9\u304c\u591a\u3044\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046\u3002<\/p>\n

All these busy preparations bring to mind a certain woman in the Bible.\u3000 \u3000\u3000\u3000\u3000\u3000\u3000\u3000\u3000 \u3000\u3053\u3046\u3057\u305f\u614c\u305f\u3060\u3057\u3044\u6e96\u5099\u306f\u3001\u8056\u66f8\u306b\u767b\u5834\u3059\u308b\u3001\u3042\u308b\u5973\u6027\u3092\u601d\u3044\u51fa\u3055\u305b\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Her name is Martha.\u3000 \u305d\u306e\u540d\u524d\u306f\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Today, we will look at Martha and her relationship with Jesus.\u3000 \u4eca\u65e5\u306f\u3053\u306e\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u3068\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3068\u306e\u95a2\u4fc2\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066\u898b\u3066\u3044\u304d\u307e\u3057\u3087\u3046\u3002<\/p>\n

We will begin by looking at Jesus\u2019 visit to Martha\u2019s home recorded for us in Luke 10.\u3000 \u307e\u305a\u3001\u30eb\u30ab\u306b\u3088\u308b\u798f\u97f3\u66f810\u7ae0\u306b\u8a18\u3055\u308c\u3066\u3044\u308b\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304c\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u306e\u5bb6\u3092\u8a2a\u308c\u305f\u51fa\u6765\u4e8b\u304b\u3089\u59cb\u3081\u307e\u3057\u3087\u3046\u3002<\/p>\n

Luke 10:38-42\uff08\u30eb\u30ab\u306e\u798f\u97f3\u66f8\uff11\uff10\u7ae0\uff13\uff18\uff5e\uff14\uff12\u7bc0\uff09<\/p>\n

38\u00a0<\/sup>Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named\u00a0Martha welcomed Him into her home.\u00a039\u00a0<\/sup>She had a sister called\u00a0Mary, who was\u00a0seated at the Lord\u2019s feet, listening to His word.\u00a040\u00a0<\/sup>But\u00a0Martha was distracted with\u00a0all her preparations; and she came up\u00a0to Him<\/em>\u00a0and said, \u201cLord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? We see here the occasion of Jesus\u2019 visit to a certain village where two sisters, Martha and Mary, lived.\u3000 \u3053\u3053\u306b\u306f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304c\u3001\u3068\u3042\u308b\u6751\u3092\u8a2a\u308c\u305f\u5834\u9762\u304c\u63cf\u304b\u308c\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002\u305d\u306e\u6751\u306b\u306f\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u3068\u30de\u30ea\u30a2\u3068\u3044\u3046\u4e8c\u4eba\u306e\u59c9\u59b9\u304c\u4f4f\u3093\u3067\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

Jesus was traveling along with His disciples going all over Israel to proclaim repentance and the kingdom of God.\u3000 \u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306f\u5f1f\u5b50\u305f\u3061\u3068\u5171\u306b\u30a4\u30b9\u30e9\u30a8\u30eb\u4e2d\u3092\u5de1\u308a\u3001\u6094\u3044\u6539\u3081\u3068\u795e\u306e\u56fd\u3092\u5ba3\u3079\u4f1d\u3048\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

Jesus came into this particular home because He was welcomed there.\u3000 \u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304c\u3053\u306e\u5bb6\u306b\u5165\u3063\u305f\u306e\u306f\u3001\u6b53\u8fce\u3055\u308c\u305f\u304b\u3089\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

As Martha is named here first, she must have been the head of this household.\u3000 \u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u304c\u5148\u306b\u540d\u6307\u3057\u3055\u308c\u3066\u3044\u308b\u3053\u3068\u304b\u3089\u3001\u5f7c\u5973\u304c\u3053\u306e\u5bb6\u306e\u4e3b\u3060\u3063\u305f\u3068\u8003\u3048\u3089\u308c\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Martha\u2019s sister Mary is mentioned as well.\u3000\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u306e\u59b9\u30de\u30ea\u30a2\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066\u3082\u8a00\u53ca\u3055\u308c\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Right away, we see what kind of person Mary was, for it is recorded that she \u201cwas seated at the Lord\u2019s feet, listening to His word.\u201d \u3059\u3050\u306b\u3001\u79c1\u305f\u3061\u306f\u30de\u30ea\u30a2\u304c\u3069\u3093\u306a\u4eba\u7269\u3067\u3042\u3063\u305f\u306e\u304b\u304c\u5206\u304b\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002\u306a\u305c\u306a\u3089\u3001\u5f7c\u5973\u306f\u300c\u4e3b\u306e\u8db3\u3082\u3068\u306b\u3059\u308f\u3063\u3066\u3001\u5fa1\u8a00\u306b\u805e\u304d\u5165\u3063\u3066\u3044\u305f\u300d\u304b\u3089\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Mary was an attentive person, who cherished sitting at Jesus\u2019 feet to listen to Him speak.\u3000 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u30de\u30ea\u30a2\u306f\u6ce8\u610f\u6df1\u3044\u4eba\u3067\u3042\u308a\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u8db3\u5143\u306b\u5ea7\u3063\u3066\u305d\u306e\u8a71\u3092\u805e\u304f\u3053\u3068\u3092\u5927\u5207\u306b\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

In biblical times, sitting at someone\u2019s feet was a posture of learning, submission, and discipleship.\u3000 \u8056\u66f8\u306e\u6642\u4ee3\u306b\u304a\u3044\u3066\u3001\u8ab0\u304b\u306e\u8db3\u5143\u306b\u5ea7\u308b\u3053\u3068\u306f\u3001\u5b66\u3073\u3001\u5f93\u9806\u3001\u305d\u3057\u3066\u5f1f\u5b50\u3068\u3057\u3066\u306e\u59ff\u52e2\u3092\u793a\u3059\u3082\u306e\u3067\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

Thus, it showed Mary\u2019s humility and eagerness to learn from Jesus.\u3000 \u3057\u305f\u304c\u3063\u3066\u3001\u305d\u308c\u306f\u30de\u30ea\u30a2\u306e\u8b19\u865a\u3055\u3068\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304b\u3089\u5b66\u3073\u305f\u3044\u3068\u3044\u3046\u71b1\u610f\u3092\u793a\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

We also see what kind of person Martha was, for it is recorded that she \u201cwas distracted with all her preparations.\u201d \u307e\u305f\u3001\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u304c\u3069\u306e\u3088\u3046\u306a\u4eba\u7269\u3067\u3042\u3063\u305f\u304b\u3082\u5206\u304b\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002\u306a\u305c\u306a\u3089\u3001\u5f7c\u5973\u306f\u300c\u63a5\u5f85\u306e\u3053\u3068\u3067\u5fd9\u3057\u304f\u3066\u5fc3\u3092\u3068\u308a\u307f\u3060\u3057\u3066\u3044\u305f\u300d\u3068\u8a18\u3055\u308c\u3066\u3044\u308b\u304b\u3089\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Matha was an active, detail-oriented person, who probably ran the affairs of her household well.\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u306f\u6d3b\u767a\u3067\u7d30\u3084\u304b\u306a\u4eba\u67c4\u3067\u3042\u308a\u3001\u304a\u305d\u3089\u304f\u5bb6\u5ead\u306e\u4ed5\u4e8b\u3092\u3046\u307e\u304f\u3053\u306a\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

In Japanese terms, she was a true \u65e5\u672c\u8a9e\u306b\u304a\u3044\u3066\u3001\u5f7c\u5973\u306f\u672c\u5f53\u306b\u304a\u59c9\u3055\u3093 (onei-san)\u3067\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

As the oldest, or older sister, she was probably given the responsibility to care for the rest of the family members, \u9577\u5973\u3001\u3042\u308b\u3044\u306f\u59c9\u3068\u3057\u3066\u3001\u5f7c\u5973\u306f\u5bb6\u65cf\u5168\u54e1\u306e\u4e16\u8a71\u5f79\u3092\u4efb\u3055\u308c\u3066\u3044\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046\u3002<\/p>\n

as there is no mention of parents being at home with them.\u3000\u4e21\u89aa\u304c\u5bb6\u306b\u3044\u308b\u3068\u3044\u3046\u8a18\u8ff0\u304c\u306a\u3044\u3053\u3068\u304b\u3089\u305d\u3046\u63a8\u6e2c\u3055\u308c\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Martha welcomed Jesus into \u201cher home\u201d, and she was doing her best to be a good host.\u3000 \u3000\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u306f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3092\u300c\u81ea\u5206\u306e\u5bb6\u300d\u306b\u8fce\u3048\u5165\u308c\u3001\u6700\u5584\u3092\u5c3d\u304f\u3057\u3066\u826f\u3044\u3082\u3066\u306a\u3057\u3092\u3057\u3088\u3046\u3068\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

Thus, she was fully involved in all \u201cher preparations\u201d to host Jesus.\u3000 \u3057\u305f\u304c\u3063\u3066\u3001\u5f7c\u5973\u306f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3092\u3082\u3066\u306a\u3059\u305f\u3081\u306e\u300c\u6e96\u5099\u300d\u306b\u5b8c\u5168\u306b\u6ca1\u982d\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

Perhaps in being overwhelmed with all the preparations, Martha came up to Jesus to ask Him to have her sister Mary help her out.\u3000 \u304a\u305d\u3089\u304f\u6e96\u5099\u306b\u8ffd\u308f\u308c\u3066\u3044\u305f\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u306f\u3001\u59b9\u306e\u30de\u30ea\u30e4\u306b\u624b\u4f1d\u3044\u3092\u983c\u3080\u3088\u3046\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306b\u9858\u3044\u51fa\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046\u3002<\/p>\n

However, her words came out somewhat harshly, expressing her frustration:\u3000 \u3057\u304b\u3057\u3001\u305d\u306e\u5f7c\u5973\u306e\u8a00\u8449\u306f\u3084\u3084\u304d\u3064\u3044\u53e3\u8abf\u3067\u3001\u82db\u7acb\u3061\u3092\u8868\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\uff1a<\/p>\n

\u201cLord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Perhaps Martha wanted to spend time with Jesus as well, to sit and listen to Him.\u3000 \u304a\u305d\u3089\u304f\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u3082\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3068\u5171\u306b\u5ea7\u3063\u3066\u3001\u305d\u306e\u8a71\u3092\u805e\u3044\u3066\u904e\u3054\u3057\u305f\u304b\u3063\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046\u3001<\/p>\n

However, she got \u201cdistracted with all her preparations.\u201d \u3057\u304b\u3057\u3001\u5f7c\u5973\u306f\u63a5\u5f85\u304c\u5fd9\u304c\u3057\u304f\u3066\u5fc3\u3092\u3068\u308a\u307f\u3060\u3057\u3066\u3044\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Interesting choice of words here.\u3000 \u8208\u5473\u6df1\u3044\u8a00\u8449\u306e\u9078\u3073\u304c\u3053\u3053\u306b\u306f\u3042\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

\u201cDistracted\u201d is seen as a negative action versus being \u201cfocused\u201d in doing something.\u3000 \u300c\u3068\u308a\u307f\u3060\u3057\u3066\u3044\u308b\u300d\u3068\u306f\u3001\u4f55\u304b\u3092\u884c\u3046\u969b\u306b\u300c\u96c6\u4e2d\u3057\u3066\u3044\u308b\u300d\u72b6\u614b\u3068\u5bfe\u6bd4\u3055\u308c\u308b\u5426\u5b9a\u7684\u306a\u884c\u52d5\u3068\u898b\u306a\u3055\u308c\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

So, we are left to wonder:\u00a0 What was Martha supposed to focus on doing?\u3000 \u305d\u3053\u3067\u7591\u554f\u304c\u6b8b\u308a\u307e\u3059\uff1a\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u306f\u4f55\u306b\u96c6\u4e2d\u3059\u3079\u304d\u3060\u3063\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046\u304b\uff1f<\/p>\n

When we ask this question, then we can better appreciate Jesus\u2019 response to Martha.\u3000\u3053\u306e\u554f\u3044\u3092\u6295\u3052\u304b\u3051\u308b\u3053\u3068\u3067\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304c\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u306b\u793a\u3057\u305f\u5fdc\u7b54\u3092\u3088\u308a\u6df1\u304f\u7406\u89e3\u3067\u304d\u308b\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046\u3002<\/p>\n

But the Lord answered and said to her, \u201cMartha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.\u201d \u4e3b\u306f\u7b54\u3048\u3066\u8a00\u308f\u308c\u305f\u3001\u300c\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u3088\u3001\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u3088\u3001\u3042\u306a\u305f\u306f\u591a\u304f\u306e\u3053\u3068\u306b\u5fc3\u3092\u914d\u3063\u3066\u601d\u3044\u308f\u305a\u3089\u3063\u3066\u3044\u308b\u3002\u3057\u304b\u3057\u3001\u7121\u304f\u3066\u306a\u3089\u306c\u3082\u306e\u306f\u591a\u304f\u306f\u306a\u3044\u3002\u3044\u3084\u3001\u4e00\u3064\u3060\u3051\u3067\u3042\u308b\u3002\u30de\u30ea\u30e4\u306f\u305d\u306e\u826f\u3044\u65b9\u3092\u9078\u3093\u3060\u306e\u3060\u3002\u305d\u3057\u3066\u305d\u308c\u306f\u3001\u5f7c\u5973\u304b\u3089\u53d6\u308a\u53bb\u3063\u3066\u306f\u306a\u3089\u306a\u3044\u3082\u306e\u3067\u3042\u308b\u300d\u3002<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jesus calling out to Martha two times shows how truly distracted she was.\u3000 \u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304c\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u3092\u4e8c\u5ea6\u547c\u3073\u304b\u3051\u305f\u3053\u3068\u306f\u3001\u5f7c\u5973\u304c\u3069\u308c\u307b\u3069\u6c17\u304c\u6563\u3063\u3066\u3044\u305f\u304b\u3092\u793a\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Jesus also addressed Martha\u2019s state of mind in doing all her preparations: \u201cYou are worried and bothered about so many things.\u201d \u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306f\u307e\u305f\u3001\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u304c\u5f7c\u5973\u306e\u6e96\u5099\u306b\u8ffd\u308f\u308c\u308b\u5fc3\u5883\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066\u300c\u3042\u306a\u305f\u306f\u591a\u304f\u306e\u3053\u3068\u306b\u5fc3\u3092\u914d\u3063\u3066\u601d\u3044\u308f\u305a\u3089\u3063\u3066\u3044\u308b\u300d\u3068\u3082\u8a00\u53ca\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

I cannot imagine the menu that Martha prepared for entertaining Jesus and His disciples on that day.\u3000 \u305d\u306e\u65e5\u3001\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u304c\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3068\u5f1f\u5b50\u305f\u3061\u3092\u3082\u3066\u306a\u3059\u305f\u3081\u306b\u7528\u610f\u3057\u305f\u30e1\u30cb\u30e5\u30fc\u306f\u60f3\u50cf\u3082\u3064\u304d\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002<\/p>\n

It must have been quite exquisite and it must have been a lot for her alone to handle.\u3000 \u305d\u308c\u306f\u304d\u3063\u3068\u975e\u5e38\u306b\u6d17\u7df4\u3055\u308c\u305f\u3082\u306e\u3067\u3001\u5f7c\u5973\u4e00\u4eba\u3067\u306f\u3068\u3066\u3082\u5bfe\u5fdc\u3057\u304d\u308c\u306a\u3044\u307b\u3069\u306e\u91cf\u3060\u3063\u305f\u306b\u9055\u3044\u3042\u308a\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002<\/p>\n

To Martha\u2019s concern over these many things, Jesus quieted her heart by saying: \u201cbut only one thing is necessary.\u201d \u591a\u304f\u306e\u3053\u3068\u306b\u5fc3\u3092\u4e71\u3057\u3066\u3044\u305f\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u306b\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306f\u3053\u3046\u8a00\u3063\u3066\u5fc3\u3092\u9759\u3081\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u300c\u3057\u304b\u3057\u3001\u7121\u304f\u3066\u306a\u3089\u306c\u3082\u306e\u306f\u591a\u304f\u306f\u306a\u3044\u3002\u3044\u3084\u3001\u4e00\u3064\u3060\u3051\u3067\u3042\u308b\u300d\u3002<\/p>\n

What was that one thing?\u3000\u305d\u306e\u4e00\u3064\u3068\u306f\u4f55\u3060\u3063\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046\u304b\uff1f<\/p>\n

Jesus continued on: \u201cfor Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.\u201d\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306f\u7d9a\u3051\u3066\u300c\u30de\u30ea\u30e4\u306f\u305d\u306e\u826f\u3044\u65b9\u3092\u9078\u3093\u3060\u306e\u3060\u3002\u305d\u3057\u3066\u305d\u308c\u306f\u3001\u5f7c\u5973\u304b\u3089\u53d6\u308a\u53bb\u3063\u3066\u306f\u306a\u3089\u306a\u3044\u3082\u306e\u3067\u3042\u308b\u300d\u3068\u8a00\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

What exactly was Mary doing?\u3000 \u30de\u30ea\u30e4\u306f\u4e00\u4f53\u4f55\u3092\u3057\u3066\u3044\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046\u304b\uff1f<\/p>\n

She was seated at the Lord\u2019s feet, listening to His word.\u3000\u5f7c\u5973\u306f\u4e3b\u306e\u8db3\u5143\u306b\u5ea7\u308a\u3001\u4e3b\u306e\u5fa1\u8a00\u8449\u3092\u805e\u3044\u3066\u3044\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

So, we see here the great importance of being still and to listen to Jesus.\u3000 \u3053\u3053\u3067\u79c1\u305f\u3061\u306f\u3001\u9759\u307e\u308a\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u5fa1\u8a00\u8449\u306b\u8033\u3092\u50be\u3051\u308b\u3053\u3068\u306e\u91cd\u8981\u6027\u3092\u77e5\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

The importance of this is highlighted for us in James 1:19-20 where it says:\u3000 \u3053\u306e\u91cd\u8981\u6027\u306f\u30e4\u30b3\u30d6\u306e\u624b\u7d191\u7ae019-20\u7bc0\u3067\u5f37\u8abf\u3055\u308c\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002\u305d\u3053\u306b\u306f\u3053\u3046\u8a18\u3055\u308c\u3066\u3044\u308b\u306e\u3067\u3059\uff1a<\/p>\n

19\u00a0<\/sup>This<\/em>\u00a0you know,\u00a0my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear,\u00a0slow to speak\u00a0and<\/em>\u00a0slow to anger;\u00a020\u00a0<\/sup>for\u00a0the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God. 19<\/sup>\u611b\u3059\u308b\u5144\u5f1f\u305f\u3061\u3088\u3002\u3053\u306e\u3053\u3068\u3092\u77e5\u3063\u3066\u304a\u304d\u306a\u3055\u3044\u3002\u4eba\u306f\u3059\u3079\u3066\u3001\u805e\u304f\u306b\u65e9\u304f\u3001\u8a9e\u308b\u306b\u304a\u305d\u304f\u3001\u6012\u308b\u306b\u304a\u305d\u304f\u3042\u308b\u3079\u304d\u3067\u3042\u308b\u300220<\/sup>\u4eba\u306e\u6012\u308a\u306f\u3001\u795e\u306e\u7fa9\u3092\u5168\u3046\u3059\u308b\u3082\u306e\u3067\u306f\u306a\u3044\u304b\u3089\u3067\u3042\u308b\u3002<\/strong><\/p>\n

The quick to hear that is mentioned in James 1:19, has to do with being quick to hear God\u2019s voice (words).\u3000 \u30e4\u30b3\u30d6\u306e\u624b\u7d191\u7ae019\u7bc0\u306b\u8a18\u3055\u308c\u3066\u3044\u308b\u300c\u805e\u304f\u3053\u3068\u306b\u901f\u3044\u300d\u3068\u306f\u3001\u795e\u306e\u5fa1\u58f0\uff08\u5fa1\u8a00\u8449\uff09\u3092\u901f\u3084\u304b\u306b\u805e\u304f\u3053\u3068\u306b\u95a2\u4fc2\u3057\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Thus, we are exhorted here to particularly be attentive to listen to God, \u3057\u305f\u304c\u3063\u3066\u3001\u3053\u3053\u3067\u7279\u306b\u52e7\u3081\u3089\u308c\u3066\u3044\u308b\u306e\u306f\u3001\u795e\u69d8\u306b\u8033\u3092\u50be\u3051\u308b\u3053\u3068\u306b\u6ce8\u610f\u3092\u6255\u3046\u3053\u3068\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

which is something Mary was doing by sitting at Jesus\u2019 feet and listening to His words.\u3000\u3053\u308c\u306f\u3001\u30de\u30ea\u30a2\u304c\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u8db3\u5143\u306b\u5ea7\u308a\u3001\u305d\u306e\u8a00\u8449\u306b\u8033\u3092\u50be\u3051\u3066\u3044\u305f\u884c\u70ba\u305d\u306e\u3082\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

At the same time, we are exhorted to be slow to speak and slow to anger, which is something that in that particular moment Martha could not do.\u3000 \u540c\u6642\u306b\u3001\u79c1\u305f\u3061\u306f\u300c\u53e3\u3092\u614e\u307f\u3001\u6012\u308a\u306b\u9045\u304f\u3042\u308c\u300d\u3068\u3082\u52e7\u3081\u3089\u308c\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002\u3053\u308c\u306f\u3001\u3042\u306e\u7279\u5b9a\u306e\u77ac\u9593\u306b\u304a\u3044\u3066\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u304c\u3067\u304d\u306a\u304b\u3063\u305f\u3053\u3068\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

However, I don\u2019t believe that Jesus was being particularly harsh towards Martha.\u3057\u304b\u3057\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304c\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u306b\u5bfe\u3057\u3066\u7279\u306b\u53b3\u3057\u3044\u614b\u5ea6\u3092\u53d6\u3063\u3066\u3044\u305f\u3068\u79c1\u306f\u601d\u3044\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002<\/p>\n

His words to Martha were not a reprimand as much as a kind reminder to her of the importance of focusing on Him and His words rather than all of her preparations.\u3000 \u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u3078\u306e\u4e3b\u306e\u8a00\u8449\u306f\u3001\u53f1\u8cac\u3068\u3044\u3046\u3088\u308a\u306f\u3001\u5f7c\u5973\u304c\u6e96\u5099\u306b\u3070\u304b\u308a\u6c17\u3092\u53d6\u3089\u308c\u308b\u306e\u3067\u306f\u306a\u304f\u3001\u4e3b\u3054\u81ea\u8eab\u3068\u305d\u306e\u8a00\u8449\u306b\u96c6\u4e2d\u3059\u308b\u3053\u3068\u306e\u91cd\u8981\u6027\u3092\u512a\u3057\u304f\u601d\u3044\u51fa\u3055\u305b\u308b\u3082\u306e\u3067\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

When I think of a wonderful example of Christ-focused hosting, I think of the Wednesday Night Dinners hosted by Duncan and Yuki Woo.\u3000 \u30ad\u30ea\u30b9\u30c8\u3092\u4e2d\u5fc3\u3068\u3057\u305f\u3082\u3066\u306a\u3057\u306e\u7d20\u6674\u3089\u3057\u3044\u4f8b\u3068\u3057\u3066\u601d\u3044\u6d6e\u304b\u3076\u306e\u306f\u3001\u30c0\u30f3\u30ab\u30f3\u3068\u30e6\u30ad\u30fb\u30a6\u30fc\u592b\u59bb\u304c\u4e3b\u50ac\u3059\u308b\u6c34\u66dc\u591c\u306e\u5915\u98df\u4f1a\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

I know that they expend a lot of time and energy and resources to host dinners at their home every Wednesday night.\u3000 \u6bce\u9031\u6c34\u66dc\u306e\u591c\u3001\u81ea\u5b85\u3067\u5915\u98df\u4f1a\u3092\u958b\u304f\u305f\u3081\u306b\u5f7c\u3089\u304c\u591a\u304f\u306e\u6642\u9593\u3068\u52b4\u529b\u3001\u8cc7\u6750\u3092\u8cbb\u3084\u3057\u3066\u3044\u308b\u3053\u3068\u3092\u627f\u77e5\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

However, no matter how busy they may be in preparing the meal, they are never too busy in hosting the dinner.\u3000 \u3057\u304b\u3057\u3001\u98df\u4e8b\u306e\u6e96\u5099\u3067\u3069\u308c\u307b\u3069\u5fd9\u3057\u304f\u3066\u3082\u3001\u5915\u98df\u4f1a\u305d\u306e\u3082\u306e\u3092\u3082\u3066\u306a\u3059\u3053\u3068\u306b\u5fd9\u3057\u3059\u304e\u308b\u3068\u3044\u3046\u3053\u3068\u306f\u6c7a\u3057\u3066\u3042\u308a\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002<\/p>\n

When it is time to eat the dinner, usually Duncan prays for the meal (sometimes, he asks me to pray), \u98df\u4e8b\u306e\u6642\u9593\u306b\u306a\u308b\u3068\u3001\u901a\u5e38\u30c0\u30f3\u30ab\u30f3\u304c\u98df\u524d\u306e\u7948\u308a\u3092\u6367\u3052\u307e\u3059\uff08\u6642\u306b\u306f\u79c1\u306b\u7948\u308a\u3092\u983c\u3080\u3053\u3068\u3082\u3042\u308a\u307e\u3059\uff09\u3002<\/p>\n

and once everyone gets in line to eat, Duncan and Yuki are talking with everyone there.\u3000\u305d\u3057\u3066\u7686\u304c\u98df\u4e8b\u306e\u5217\u306b\u4e26\u3076\u3068\u3001\u30c0\u30f3\u30ab\u30f3\u3068\u30e6\u30ad\u306f\u305d\u3053\u306b\u3044\u308b\u5168\u54e1\u3068\u4f1a\u8a71\u3092\u4ea4\u308f\u3057\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Their focus is not on the food.\u3000 \u5f7c\u3089\u306e\u7126\u70b9\u306f\u98df\u4e8b\u305d\u306e\u3082\u306e\u306b\u306f\u3042\u308a\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002<\/p>\n

Their focus is on loving the people who come to the dinner with God\u2019s love.\u3000\u5f7c\u3089\u306e\u7126\u70b9\u306f\u3001\u5915\u98df\u306b\u8a2a\u308c\u308b\u4eba\u3005\u3092\u795e\u306e\u611b\u3092\u3082\u3063\u3066\u611b\u3059\u308b\u3053\u3068\u306b\u3042\u308b\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

And they host the dinner in hopes that those who know Jesus will share Jesus with those who do not know Jesus.\u3000 \u305d\u3057\u3066\u5f7c\u3089\u306f\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3092\u77e5\u3063\u3066\u3044\u308b\u4eba\u3005\u304c\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3092\u77e5\u3089\u306a\u3044\u4eba\u3005\u3068\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3092\u5206\u304b\u3061\u5408\u3046\u3053\u3068\u3092\u9858\u3044\u3001\u5915\u98df\u4f1a\u3092\u4e3b\u50ac\u3057\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Thus, the focal point of the dinner is Jesus.\u3000 \u3057\u305f\u304c\u3063\u3066\u3001\u5915\u98df\u4f1a\u306e\u7126\u70b9\u306f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306b\u3042\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

As we have luncheons as a church throughout this year, let us remember to not get distracted with all our preparations but to focus on serving and listening to Jesus.\u3000 \u4eca\u5e74\u3001\u6559\u4f1a\u3067\u30e9\u30f3\u30c1\u3092\u3082\u3064\u306b\u3042\u305f\u308a\u3001\u6e96\u5099\u306b\u6c17\u3092\u53d6\u3089\u308c\u308b\u3053\u3068\u306a\u304f\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306b\u4ed5\u3048\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u8a00\u8449\u306b\u8033\u3092\u50be\u3051\u308b\u3053\u3068\u306b\u96c6\u4e2d\u3059\u308b\u3053\u3068\u3092\u899a\u3048\u307e\u3057\u3087\u3046\u3002<\/p>\n

I believe after her conversation with Jesus, Martha was able to do so with no more worries and with great joy, \u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u306f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3068\u306e\u5bfe\u8a71\u306e\u5f8c\u3001\u3082\u306f\u3084\u5fc3\u914d\u3059\u308b\u3053\u3068\u306a\u304f\u5927\u304d\u306a\u559c\u3073\u3092\u3082\u3063\u3066\u305d\u3046\u3059\u308b\u3053\u3068\u304c\u3067\u304d\u305f\u3068\u4fe1\u3058\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

while Mary was able to continue to sit at Jesus\u2019 feet and to listen to Him.\u3000\u4e00\u65b9\u3001\u30de\u30ea\u30e4\u306f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u8db3\u5143\u306b\u5ea7\u308a\u7d9a\u3051\u3001\u305d\u306e\u304a\u8a00\u8449\u306b\u8033\u3092\u50be\u3051\u7d9a\u3051\u308b\u3053\u3068\u304c\u3067\u304d\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

We find out from reading the Gospels that these sisters, Martha and Mary, along with their brother Lazarus, held a special place in Jesus\u2019 heart.\u3000 \u798f\u97f3\u66f8\u3092\u8aad\u3080\u3068\u3001\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u3068\u30de\u30ea\u30e4\u3068\u3044\u3046\u59c9\u59b9\u3068\u3001\u305d\u306e\u5144\u5f1f\u30e9\u30b6\u30ed\u304c\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u5fc3\u306e\u4e2d\u3067\u7279\u5225\u306a\u4f4d\u7f6e\u3092\u5360\u3081\u3066\u3044\u305f\u3053\u3068\u304c\u308f\u304b\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

We see this in Jesus\u2019 interactions with them at a time of crisis for these siblings.\u3000 \u3053\u306e\u3053\u3068\u306f\u3001\u3053\u306e\u5144\u5f1f\u59c9\u59b9\u304c\u5371\u6a5f\u306b\u76f4\u9762\u3057\u305f\u6642\u306b\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304c\u5f7c\u3089\u3068\u4ea4\u308f\u3057\u305f\u3084\u308a\u53d6\u308a\u306b\u898b\u3066\u53d6\u308c\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

We read about this in John 11.\u3000 \u30e8\u30cf\u30cd\u306b\u3088\u308b\u798f\u97f3\u66f811\u7ae0\u306b\u3053\u306e\u3053\u3068\u304c\u8a18\u3055\u308c\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

What we read there is that Lazarus, Mary and Martha\u2019s brother was sick, and so the sisters sent word to Jesus about the matter.\u3000 \u305d\u3053\u306b\u306f\u3001\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u3068\u30de\u30ea\u30e4\u306e\u5144\u5f1f\u3067\u3042\u308b\u30e9\u30b6\u30ed\u304c\u75c5\u6c17\u306b\u306a\u3063\u305f\u305f\u3081\u3001\u59c9\u59b9\u304c\u305d\u306e\u3053\u3068\u3092\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306b\u77e5\u3089\u305b\u305f\u3053\u3068\u304c\u66f8\u304b\u308c\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Of course, Mary and Martha were hoping that Jesus would come to heal Lazarus.\u3000 \u3082\u3061\u308d\u3093\u3001\u30de\u30ea\u30e4\u3068\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u306f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304c\u6765\u3066\u30e9\u30b6\u30ed\u3092\u7652\u3057\u3066\u304f\u3060\u3055\u308b\u3053\u3068\u3092\u9858\u3063\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

However, after hearing the news of Lazarus being sick, Jesus purposefully stayed two days long in the place where He was.\u3000 \u3057\u304b\u3057\u3001\u30e9\u30b6\u30ed\u304c\u75c5\u6c17\u3060\u3068\u3044\u3046\u77e5\u3089\u305b\u3092\u805e\u3044\u305f\u5f8c\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306f\u308f\u3056\u3068\u4e8c\u65e5\u9593\u3001\u305d\u306e\u5834\u6240\u306b\u7559\u307e\u308a\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

And we also see that she freely spoke her mind.\u3000 \u307e\u305f\u3001\u5f7c\u5973\u306f\u7387\u76f4\u306b\u81ea\u5206\u306e\u8003\u3048\u3092\u53e3\u306b\u3057\u305f\u3053\u3068\u3082\u5206\u304b\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

\u201cLord,\u00a0if You had been here, my brother would not have died.\u201d \u300c\u4e3b\u3088\u3001\u3082\u3057\u3042\u306a\u305f\u304c\u3053\u3053\u306b\u3044\u3066\u4e0b\u3055\u3063\u305f\u306a\u3089\u3001\u308f\u305f\u3057\u306e\u5144\u5f1f\u306f\u6b7b\u306a\u306a\u304b\u3063\u305f\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046\u300d\u3002<\/p>\n

At the same time, Martha expressed her faith in Jesus as having God-given authority over sickness and even death.\u3000 \u540c\u6642\u306b\u3001\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u306f\u75c5\u3084\u6b7b\u3055\u3048\u3082\u652f\u914d\u3059\u308b\u795e\u304b\u3089\u4e0e\u3048\u3089\u308c\u305f\u6a29\u5a01\u3092\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306b\u8a8d\u3081\u308b\u4fe1\u4ef0\u3092\u8868\u660e\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

This was a very bold declaration of what she believed regarding Jesus, for she was emphatic in saying, \u201cI know\u201d.\u3000 \u3053\u308c\u306f\u5f7c\u5973\u304c\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066\u4fe1\u3058\u3066\u3044\u308b\u3053\u3068\u3092\u975e\u5e38\u306b\u5927\u80c6\u306b\u5ba3\u8a00\u3057\u305f\u3082\u306e\u3067\u3001\u5f7c\u5973\u306f\u300c\u79c1\u306f\u77e5\u3063\u3066\u3044\u308b\u300d\u3068\u529b\u5f37\u304f\u8a00\u3063\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

It shows that she had a special understanding of who Jesus was and therefore could speak freely with Him.\u3000 \u3053\u308c\u306f\u5f7c\u5973\u304c\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066\u7279\u5225\u306a\u7406\u89e3\u3092\u6301\u3063\u3066\u304a\u308a\u3001\u305d\u308c\u3086\u3048\u5f7c\u3068\u81ea\u7531\u306b\u8a71\u3059\u3053\u3068\u304c\u3067\u304d\u305f\u3053\u3068\u3092\u793a\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Jesus made a statement regarding the fact that Lazarus will rise again.\u3000 \u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306f\u30e9\u30b6\u30ed\u304c\u518d\u3073\u3088\u307f\u304c\u3048\u308b\u3068\u3044\u3046\u4e8b\u5b9f\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066\u5ba3\u8a00\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

Thus, Martha believed in what Jesus said but in a general and future sense.\u3000 \u3057\u305f\u304c\u3063\u3066\u3001\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u306f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u8a00\u8449\u3092\u4fe1\u3058\u307e\u3057\u305f\u304c\u3001\u305d\u308c\u306f\u4e00\u822c\u7684\u304b\u3064\u5c06\u6765\u7684\u306a\u610f\u5473\u3067\u306e\u4fe1\u4ef0\u3067\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

And He pressed the matter by asking Martha: \u201cDo you believe this?\u201d \u305d\u3057\u3066\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u306b\u554f\u3044\u304b\u3051\u3066\u3001\u3053\u306e\u554f\u984c\u3092\u3055\u3089\u306b\u6df1\u304f\u6398\u308a\u4e0b\u3052\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u300c\u3042\u306a\u305f\u306f\u3053\u308c\u3092\u4fe1\u3058\u308b\u304b\u300d\u3002<\/p>\n

To this question, Martha made a clear and powerful declaration of her faith in Jesus as the Christ and the Son of God.\u3000 \u3053\u306e\u554f\u3044\u306b\u5bfe\u3057\u3066\u3001\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u306f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3092\u30ad\u30ea\u30b9\u30c8\u3001\u795e\u306e\u5b50\u3068\u3057\u3066\u4fe1\u3058\u308b\u3068\u3044\u3046\u3001\u660e\u78ba\u304b\u3064\u529b\u5f37\u3044\u4fe1\u4ef0\u306e\u5ba3\u8a00\u3092\u3057\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Yet it seems that her grief was even greater than Martha’s.\u3000 \u3057\u304b\u3057\u5f7c\u5973\u306e\u60b2\u3057\u307f\u306f\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u306e\u305d\u308c\u3088\u308a\u3082\u3055\u3089\u306b\u6df1\u3044\u3088\u3046\u3067\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

She could not carry on a conversation with Jesus because of her sorrow.\u3000 \u5f7c\u5973\u306f\u60b2\u3057\u307f\u306e\u3042\u307e\u308a\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3068\u4f1a\u8a71\u3059\u308b\u3053\u3068\u3082\u3067\u304d\u306a\u304b\u3063\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Jesus thus asked about where Lazarus’ tomb was (where his body was laid).\u3000 \u305d\u3053\u3067\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306f\u30e9\u30b6\u30ed\u306e\u5893\uff08\u907a\u4f53\u304c\u5b89\u7f6e\u3055\u308c\u305f\u5834\u6240\uff09\u306e\u6240\u5728\u3092\u5c0b\u306d\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

Why did Jesus weep, especially knowing that He would soon resurrect Lazarus?\u3000\u306a\u305c\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306f\u6ce3\u3044\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046\u304b\u3002\u7279\u306b\u3001\u9593\u3082\u306a\u304f\u30e9\u30b6\u30ed\u3092\u5fa9\u6d3b\u3055\u305b\u3089\u308c\u308b\u3068\u77e5\u308a\u306a\u304c\u3089\u3001\u306a\u305c\u6ce3\u304b\u308c\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046\u304b\u3002<\/p>\n

Now standing before the tomb where Lazarus\u2019 dead body was laid, Jesus asked for the stone that blocked the entrance to the tomb to be removed.\u3000 \u30e9\u30b6\u30ed\u306e\u6b7b\u4f53\u304c\u5b89\u7f6e\u3055\u308c\u305f\u5893\u306e\u524d\u306b\u7acb\u3063\u305f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306f\u3001\u5893\u306e\u5165\u308a\u53e3\u3092\u585e\u3044\u3067\u3044\u305f\u77f3\u3092\u53d6\u308a\u9664\u304f\u3088\u3046\u306b\u547d\u3058\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

What Jesus said here to the Heavenly Father proved what Martha believed about Jesus which she declared earlier:\u3000 \u3053\u3053\u3067\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304c\u5929\u306e\u7236\u306b\u8a9e\u3063\u305f\u8a00\u8449\u306f\u3001\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u304c\u4ee5\u524d\u3001\u5ba3\u8a00\u3057\u305f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306b\u5bfe\u3059\u308b\u5f7c\u5973\u306e\u4fe1\u4ef0\u3092\u8a3c\u660e\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

We then see the results of this powerful work done by Jesus.\u3000\u305d\u3057\u3066\u79c1\u305f\u3061\u306f\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306b\u3088\u3063\u3066\u306a\u3055\u308c\u305f\u3053\u306e\u529b\u5f37\u3044\u5fa1\u696d\u306e\u7d50\u679c\u3092\u76ee\u306b\u3057\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

We see as we do with people\u2019s encounter with Jesus back then and even today.\u3000 \u4eca\u65e5\u3067\u3055\u3048\u3082\u3001\u5f53\u6642\u306e\u4eba\u3005\u304c\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3068\u51fa\u4f1a\u3063\u305f\u6642\u3068\u540c\u3058\u3088\u3046\u306b\u3001\u79c1\u305f\u3061\u306f\u898b\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Some will believe and some will not.\u3000 \u4fe1\u3058\u308b\u8005\u3082\u3044\u308c\u3070\u3001\u4fe1\u3058\u306a\u3044\u8005\u3082\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Some will listen to Jesus and some will not.\u3000 \u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u8a00\u8449\u306b\u8033\u3092\u50be\u3051\u308b\u8005\u3082\u3044\u308c\u3070\u3001\u50be\u3051\u306a\u3044\u8005\u3082\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Some will listen to Jesus and believe and some will not.\u3000 \u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u8a00\u8449\u306b\u8033\u3092\u50be\u3051\u3001\u4fe1\u3058\u308b\u8005\u3082\u3044\u308c\u3070\u3001\u4fe1\u3058\u306a\u3044\u8005\u3082\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

However, the true blessing is for those who will listen and believe Jesus, and obey Him.\u3000 \u3057\u304b\u3057\u3001\u771f\u306e\u795d\u798f\u306f\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u8a00\u8449\u306b\u8033\u3092\u50be\u3051\u3001\u4fe1\u3058\u3001\u5f93\u3046\u8005\u305f\u3061\u306e\u305f\u3081\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

For they will see the glory of God.\u3000 \u5f7c\u3089\u306f\u795e\u306e\u6804\u5149\u3092\u898b\u308b\u304b\u3089\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

This is shown by those who obeyed Jesus\u2019 command to \u201cRemove the stone.\u201d\u3000 \u3053\u308c\u306f\u300c\u77f3\u3092\u53d6\u308a\u9664\u3051\u300d\u3068\u3044\u3046\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u547d\u4ee4\u306b\u5f93\u3063\u305f\u8005\u305f\u3061\u306b\u3088\u3063\u3066\u793a\u3055\u308c\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Only after that command was heeded did Jesus cry out with a loud voice, \u201cLazarus, come forth.\u201d\u3000 \u305d\u306e\u547d\u4ee4\u304c\u805e\u304d\u5165\u308c\u3089\u308c\u3066\u521d\u3081\u3066\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306f\u5927\u58f0\u3067\u53eb\u3073\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u300c\u30e9\u30b6\u30ed\u3001\u51fa\u3066\u6765\u306a\u3055\u3044\u300d<\/p>\n

Thus, it is important for us to listen to Jesus and respond to Him in faith.\u3000 \u3057\u305f\u304c\u3063\u3066\u3001\u79c1\u305f\u3061\u304c\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u58f0\u306b\u8033\u3092\u50be\u3051\u3001\u4fe1\u4ef0\u3092\u3082\u3063\u3066\u5fdc\u7b54\u3059\u308b\u3053\u3068\u304c\u91cd\u8981\u306a\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Yet, this all happened right before Jesus was to be crucified.\u3000 \u3057\u304b\u3057\u3001\u3053\u306e\u3059\u3079\u3066\u306f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304c\u5341\u5b57\u67b6\u306b\u304b\u3051\u3089\u308c\u308b\u76f4\u524d\u306b\u8d77\u3053\u3063\u305f\u3053\u3068\u3067\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

In fact, the raising back to life of Lazarus added more fuel to the fire for the Jewish religious leaders to want to kill Jesus.\u3000 \u5b9f\u969b\u3001\u30e9\u30b6\u30ed\u306e\u5fa9\u6d3b\u306f\u3001\u30e6\u30c0\u30e4\u306e\u5b97\u6559\u6307\u5c0e\u8005\u305f\u3061\u304c\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3092\u6bba\u305d\u3046\u3068\u3059\u308b\u706b\u306b\u3055\u3089\u306b\u6cb9\u3092\u6ce8\u3050\u7d50\u679c\u3068\u306a\u308a\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

Thus, it is recorded in John 11:53:\u3000\u3053\u3046\u3057\u3066\u3001\u30e8\u30cf\u30cd\u306b\u3088\u308b\u798f\u97f3\u66f811\u7ae053\u7bc0\u306b\u306f\u3053\u3046\u8a18\u3055\u308c\u3066\u3044\u308b\u306e\u3067\u3059\uff1a<\/p>\n

So from that day on they\u00a0planned together to kill Him. \u5f7c\u3089\u306f\u3053\u306e\u65e5\u304b\u3089\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u3092\u6bba\u305d\u3046\u3068\u76f8\u8ac7\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

After this, Jesus stayed away from Jerusalem until the Passover.\u3000 \u305d\u306e\u5f8c\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306f\u904e\u8d8a\u306e\u796d\u308a\u304c\u7d42\u308f\u308b\u307e\u3067\u30a8\u30eb\u30b5\u30ec\u30e0\u304b\u3089\u96e2\u308c\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

It was at this final Passover time in which Jesus was to be crucified, that Jesus was once again together with Martha and Mary and Lazarus.\u3000 \u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304c\u5341\u5b57\u67b6\u306b\u3064\u3051\u3089\u308c\u308b\u3053\u3068\u306b\u306a\u3063\u305f\u6700\u5f8c\u306e\u904e\u8d8a\u306e\u796d\u308a\u306e\u6642\u671f\u306b\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306f\u518d\u3073\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u3068\u30de\u30ea\u30a2\u3068\u30e9\u30b6\u30ed\u3068\u5171\u306b\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

We see once again this family\u2019s closeness to Jesus as shown in the following passage of Scripture.\u3000 \u8056\u66f8\u306e\u6b21\u306e\u7b87\u6240\u306b\u898b\u3089\u308c\u308b\u3088\u3046\u306b\u3001\u3053\u306e\u5bb6\u65cf\u304c\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306b\u3069\u308c\u307b\u3069\u89aa\u5bc6\u3067\u3042\u3063\u305f\u304b\u304c\u6539\u3081\u3066\u793a\u3055\u308c\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Although this is a wonderful passage of Scripture, I am not going to spend much time on it.\u3000 \u3053\u308c\u306f\u7d20\u6674\u3089\u3057\u3044\u8056\u66f8\u306e\u7b87\u6240\u3067\u3059\u304c\u3001\u3053\u3053\u3067\u9577\u304f\u7acb\u3061\u6b62\u307e\u308b\u3064\u3082\u308a\u306f\u3042\u308a\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002<\/p>\n

We see some similar things from before with this family.\u3000\u3053\u306e\u5bb6\u65cf\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066\u306f\u4ee5\u524d\u306b\u3082\u4f3c\u305f\u3088\u3046\u306a\u3053\u3068\u304c\u3042\u308a\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

We see that Martha was serving.\u3000 \u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u304c\u4ed5\u3048\u3066\u3044\u305f\u3053\u3068\u3002<\/p>\n

We see that Lazarus was reclining at the table with Jesus.\u3000 \u30e9\u30b6\u30ed\u304c\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3068\u5171\u306b\u98df\u5353\u306b\u8170\u3092\u4e0b\u308d\u3057\u3066\u3044\u305f\u3053\u3068\u3002<\/p>\n

And then we see Mary once again at the feet of Jesus.\u3000 \u305d\u3057\u3066\u4eca\u5ea6\u306f\u3001\u518d\u3073\u30de\u30ea\u30e4\u304c\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u8db3\u5143\u306b\u3044\u305f\u3053\u3068\u3002<\/p>\n

This time, Mary anointed the feet of Jesus with very costly perfume of pure nard and wiped His feet with her hair.\u3000 \u3053\u306e\u5ea6\u3001\u30de\u30ea\u30e4\u306f\u7d14\u7c8b\u306a\u30ca\u30eb\u30c9\u306e\u975e\u5e38\u306b\u9ad8\u4fa1\u306a\u9999\u6cb9\u3067\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u8db3\u306b\u6cb9\u3092\u6ce8\u304e\u3001\u81ea\u5206\u306e\u9aea\u3067\u305d\u306e\u8db3\u3092\u62ed\u3044\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Thus, Mary’s act of love is well remembered by all and should be.\u3000 \u3053\u306e\u30de\u30ea\u30e4\u306e\u611b\u306e\u884c\u70ba\u306f\u3001\u3059\u3079\u3066\u306e\u4eba\u3005\u306e\u8a18\u61b6\u306b\u6df1\u304f\u523b\u307e\u308c\u3001\u307e\u305f\u305d\u3046\u308b\u3079\u304d\u3067\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

For Jesus Himself said about what Mary did in answer to Judas Iscariot\u2019s criticism of her costly act:\u3000\u306a\u305c\u306a\u3089\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3054\u81ea\u8eab\u304c\u3001\u30de\u30ea\u30e4\u306e\u9ad8\u4fa1\u306a\u884c\u70ba\u3092\u975e\u96e3\u3057\u305f\u30a4\u30b9\u30ab\u30ea\u30aa\u30c6\u306e\u30e6\u30c0\u306b\u5bfe\u3057\u3066\u3001\u5f7c\u5973\u306e\u884c\u3044\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066\u3053\u3046\u8a00\u308f\u308c\u305f\u304b\u3089\u3067\u3059\uff1a<\/p>\n

Yes, whether knowingly or unknowingly, out of her love for Jesus, Mary was preparing Jesus to go to die on the cross.\u3000 \u305d\u3046\u3067\u3059\u3001\u77e5\u3063\u3066\u304b\u77e5\u3089\u305a\u304b\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3078\u306e\u611b\u304b\u3089\u3001\u30de\u30ea\u30e4\u306f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304c\u5341\u5b57\u67b6\u3067\u6b7b\u306c\u305f\u3081\u306e\u6e96\u5099\u3092\u3057\u3066\u3044\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

However, today, I hope you were able to learn something about the importance of listening to Jesus through Martha’s example.\u3000\u4eca\u65e5\u3001\u79c1\u306f\u7686\u3055\u3093\u304c\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u306e\u4f8b\u3092\u901a\u3057\u3066\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u58f0\u306b\u8033\u3092\u50be\u3051\u308b\u3053\u3068\u306e\u91cd\u8981\u6027\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066\u4f55\u304b\u5b66\u3079\u305f\u3053\u3068\u3092\u9858\u3063\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Although we see Martha doing here what she was doing before, which is serving, I believe that at this time, Martha was not distracted like she was before.\u3000 \u3053\u3053\u3067\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u304c\u4ee5\u524d\u3068\u540c\u3058\u5949\u4ed5\u3092\u3057\u3066\u3044\u308b\u3088\u3046\u306b\u898b\u3048\u3066\u3082\u3001\u3053\u306e\u6642\u306f\u4ee5\u524d\u306e\u3088\u3046\u306b\u53d6\u308a\u4e71\u3057\u3066\u306f\u3044\u306a\u304b\u3063\u305f\u3068\u79c1\u306f\u601d\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

She was enjoying the moment with Jesus together with Lazarus and Mary.\u3000 \u5f7c\u5973\u306f\u30e9\u30b6\u30ed\u3084\u30de\u30ea\u30e4\u3068\u5171\u306b\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3068\u306e\u3072\u3068\u6642\u3092\u697d\u3057\u3093\u3067\u3044\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

Through her previous encounters with Jesus, Martha was able to make more certain her faith in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God, her Savior and Lord.\u3000 \u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u306f\u3053\u308c\u307e\u3067\u306e\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3068\u306e\u51fa\u4f1a\u3044\u3092\u901a\u3057\u3066\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304c\u30ad\u30ea\u30b9\u30c8\u3067\u3042\u308a\u3001\u795e\u306e\u5b50\u3067\u3042\u308a\u3001\u6551\u3044\u4e3b\u3067\u3042\u308a\u4e3b\u3067\u3042\u308b\u3068\u3044\u3046\u4fe1\u4ef0\u3092\u3088\u308a\u78ba\u304b\u306a\u3082\u306e\u306b\u3057\u3066\u3044\u304d\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

She as the onei-san of the family was responsible to care for her younger siblings, as well as to guide them to faith in Jesus.\u3000 \u5f7c\u5973\u306f\u5bb6\u65cf\u306e\u9577\u5973\u3068\u3057\u3066\u3001\u5f1f\u59b9\u305f\u3061\u306e\u4e16\u8a71\u3092\u3059\u308b\u8cac\u4efb\u3092\u8ca0\u3044\u3001\u5f7c\u3089\u3092\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u3078\u306e\u4fe1\u4ef0\u3078\u3068\u5c0e\u304f\u5f79\u5272\u3082\u62c5\u3063\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

I believe Martha\u2019s strong role in the family allowed Lazarus and Mary to truly be themselves.\u3000 \u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u304c\u5bb6\u65cf\u306e\u4e2d\u3067\u679c\u305f\u3057\u305f\u5f37\u3044\u5f79\u5272\u3053\u305d\u304c\u3001\u30e9\u30b6\u30ed\u3068\u30de\u30ea\u30e4\u304c\u771f\u306e\u81ea\u5206\u3089\u3057\u304f\u3042\u308b\u3053\u3068\u3092\u53ef\u80fd\u306b\u3057\u305f\u306e\u3060\u3068\u601d\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

This meant Lazarus could sit with Jesus and Mary could be at Jesus\u2019 feet.\u3000 \u3064\u307e\u308a\u30e9\u30b6\u30ed\u306f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u508d\u3089\u306b\u5ea7\u308a\u3001\u30de\u30ea\u30e4\u306f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u8db3\u5143\u306b\u5ea7\u308b\u3053\u3068\u304c\u3067\u304d\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

And this was all possible because Martha truly learned to listen to Jesus and to trust and obey Him.\u3000 \u3053\u308c\u3089\u304c\u5168\u3066\u53ef\u80fd\u3060\u3063\u305f\u306e\u306f\u3001\u30de\u30eb\u30bf\u304c\u771f\u306b\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u58f0\u306b\u8033\u3092\u50be\u3051\u3001\u4fe1\u983c\u3057\u5f93\u3046\u3053\u3068\u3092\u5b66\u3093\u3060\u304b\u3089\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

If and when Jesus calls you out by name (especially twice), make sure that you listen to Him.\u3000 \u3082\u3057\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304c\u3042\u306a\u305f\u306e\u540d\u524d\u3092\u547c\u3093\u3060\u306a\u3089\uff08\u7279\u306b\u4e8c\u5ea6\u3082\uff09\u3001\u5fc5\u305a\u305d\u306e\u58f0\u306b\u8033\u3092\u50be\u3051\u3066\u304f\u3060\u3055\u3044\u3002<\/p>\n

He is not just trying to get your attention.\u3000 \u4e3b\u306f\u5358\u306b\u3042\u306a\u305f\u306e\u6ce8\u610f\u3092\u5f15\u3053\u3046\u3068\u3057\u3066\u3044\u308b\u306e\u3067\u306f\u3042\u308a\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002<\/p>\n
