Last Sunday, Pastor Okura talked about Annas and Caiphas, who were the high priests during the time of Jesus\u2019 public ministry (Luke 3:2).\u3000 \u5148\u9031\u306e\u65e5\u66dc\u65e5\u3001\u5927\u5009\u7267\u5e2b\u306f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u516c\u751f\u6daf\u306e\u6642\u4ee3\u306b\u5927\u796d\u53f8\u3092\u52d9\u3081\u305f\u30a2\u30f3\u30ca\u30b9\u3068\u30ab\u30a4\u30e4\u30d1\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066\u8a9e\u308a\u307e\u3057\u305f\uff08\u30eb\u30ab3:2\uff09\u3002<\/p>\n And as he pointed out, also Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea during that time (Luke 3:1).\u307e\u305f\u5f7c\u304c\u6307\u6458\u3057\u305f\u3088\u3046\u306b\u3001\u305d\u306e\u6642\u4ee3\u306b\u306f\u30dd\u30f3\u30c6\u30aa\u30fb\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u304c\u30e6\u30c0\u30e4\u306e\u7dcf\u7763\u3067\u3057\u305f\uff08\u30eb\u30ab3:1\uff09\u3002<\/p>\n And as was also pointed out by Pastor Okura, these three were connected with each other in the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.\u3000 \u5927\u5009\u7267\u5e2b\u304c\u3055\u3089\u306b\u6307\u6458\u3057\u305f\u3088\u3046\u306b\u3001\u3053\u306e\u4e09\u4eba\u306f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u30fb\u30ad\u30ea\u30b9\u30c8\u306e\u5341\u5b57\u67b6\u5211\u306b\u304a\u3044\u3066\u4e92\u3044\u306b\u95a2\u9023\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n Although it was envy that motivated Annas and Caiphas to put Jesus to death, \u30a2\u30f3\u30ca\u30b9\u3068\u30ab\u30e4\u30d1\u304c\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3092\u6b7b\u306b\u8ffd\u3044\u3084\u308d\u3046\u3068\u3057\u305f\u52d5\u6a5f\u306f\u59ac\u307f\u3067\u3057\u305f\u304c\u3001<\/p>\n they could not execute the death penalty, especially by crucifixion, without a judgment by the Roman authorities.\u3000\u7279\u306b\u5341\u5b57\u67b6\u5211\u306b\u3088\u308b\u6b7b\u5211\u3092\u57f7\u884c\u3059\u308b\u306b\u306f\u3001\u30ed\u30fc\u30de\u5f53\u5c40\u306b\u3088\u308b\u5224\u6c7a\u304c\u4e0d\u53ef\u6b20\u3067\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n Since Judea was under the jurisdiction of the then Roman governor Pontius Pilate, they brought Jesus before him for judgment.\u3000 \u30e6\u30c0\u30e4\u306f\u5f53\u6642\u306e\u30ed\u30fc\u30de\u7dcf\u7763\u30dd\u30f3\u30c6\u30aa\u30fb\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306e\u7ba1\u8f44\u4e0b\u306b\u3042\u3063\u305f\u305f\u3081\u3001\u5f7c\u3089\u306f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3092\u5f7c\u306e\u3082\u3068\u306b\u9023\u308c\u3066\u884c\u304d\u3001\u88c1\u304d\u3092\u6c42\u3081\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n The historicity of Pilate can be seen in this photo of a replica of a dedicatory inscription attributed to Pontius Pilate \u3053\u306e\u5199\u771f\u306b\u5199\u3063\u3066\u3044\u308b\u306e\u306f\u3001\u30dd\u30f3\u30c6\u30aa\u30fb\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306b\u5e30\u305b\u3089\u308c\u308b\u5949\u732e\u7891\u6587\u306e\u8907\u88fd\u3067\u3042\u308a\u3001<\/p>\n that was found during the excavations of the theater in Caesarea. And as the Bible in all four Gospels records that Pilate was responsible for the final verdict upon Jesus to be crucified, \u307e\u305f\u3001\u56db\u798f\u97f3\u66f8\u3059\u3079\u3066\u304c\u3001\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u304c\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3092\u5341\u5b57\u67b6\u5211\u306b\u51e6\u3059\u6700\u7d42\u5224\u6c7a\u3092\u4e0b\u3057\u305f\u3068\u8a18\u9332\u3057\u3066\u3044\u308b\u3088\u3046\u306b\u3001<\/p>\n this fact is memorialized in the Apostle\u2019s Creed by the faith statement regarding Jesus, \u201csuffered under Pontius Pilate.\u201d\u3000\u3053\u306e\u4e8b\u5b9f\u306f\u4f7f\u5f92\u4fe1\u6761\u306b\u304a\u3051\u308b\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306b\u95a2\u3059\u308b\u4fe1\u4ef0\u544a\u767d\u300c\u30dd\u30f3\u30c6\u30aa\u30fb\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306e\u3082\u3068\u306b\u82e6\u3057\u307f\u3092\u53d7\u3051\u300d\u306b\u3088\u3063\u3066\u899a\u3048\u3089\u308c\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n This morning, I would like to focus on this Pontius Pilate, and learn from him of how we are to properly understand and relate to Jesus Christ.\u3000 \u4eca\u671d\u306f\u3001\u3053\u306e\u30dd\u30f3\u30c6\u30aa\u30fb\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306b\u7126\u70b9\u3092\u5f53\u3066\u3066\u3001\u79c1\u305f\u3061\u304c\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u30fb\u30ad\u30ea\u30b9\u30c8\u3092\u6b63\u3057\u304f\u7406\u89e3\u3057\u3001\u95a2\u308f\u308b\u3079\u304d\u65b9\u6cd5\u3092\u5f7c\u304b\u3089\u5b66\u3073\u305f\u3044\u3068\u601d\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n In order to do this, I am going to focus on Pilate\u2019s interaction with Jesus during His trial.\u3000 \u305d\u306e\u305f\u3081\u306b\u3001\u79c1\u306f\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u304c\u88c1\u5224\u4e2d\u306b\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3068\u4ea4\u308f\u3057\u305f\u3084\u308a\u53d6\u308a\u306b\u6ce8\u76ee\u3057\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n And what I would truly like to focus on is the question that was posed by Pilate during Jesus\u2019 trial, which was \u201cWhat is truth?\u201d\u3000\u305d\u3057\u3066\u771f\u306b\u6ce8\u76ee\u3057\u305f\u3044\u306e\u306f\u3001\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u304c\u88c1\u5224\u4e2d\u306b\u6295\u3052\u304b\u3051\u305f\u8cea\u554f\u300c\u771f\u7406\u3068\u306f\u4f55\u304b\u300d\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n Let us look together at the apostle John\u2019s Gospel account of Jesus\u2019 trial before Pilate\u4f7f\u5f92\u30e8\u30cf\u30cd\u306b\u3088\u308b\u798f\u97f3\u66f8\u304c\u4f1d\u3048\u308b\u3001\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306e\u524d\u3067\u306e\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u88c1\u5224\u306e\u69d8\u5b50\u3092\u5171\u306b\u898b\u3066\u3044\u304d\u307e\u3057\u3087\u3046\u3002<\/p>\n John 18:28-32\uff08\u30e8\u30cf\u30cd\u306e\u798f\u97f3\u66f8\uff11\uff18\u7ae0\uff12\uff18\uff5e\uff13\uff12\u7bc0\uff09<\/p>\n 28\u00a0<\/sup>Then they led Jesus from\u00a0Caiaphas into\u00a0the\u00a0Praetorium, and it was early; and they themselves did not enter into\u00a0the\u00a0Praetorium so that\u00a0they would not be defiled, but might eat the Passover.\u00a029\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore Pilate went out to them and said, \u201cWhat accusation do you bring against this Man?\u201d\u00a030\u00a0<\/sup>They answered and said to him, \u201cIf this Man were not an evildoer, we would not have delivered Him to you.\u201d\u00a031\u00a0<\/sup>So Pilate said to them, \u201cTake Him yourselves, and judge Him according to your law.\u201d The Jews said to him, \u201cWe are not permitted to put anyone to death,\u201d\u00a032\u00a0<\/sup>to fulfill\u00a0the word of Jesus which He spoke, signifying by what kind of death He was about to die. 28<\/sup>\u305d\u308c\u304b\u3089\u4eba\u3005\u306f\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u3092\u30ab\u30e4\u30d1\u306e\u3068\u3053\u308d\u304b\u3089\u5b98\u90b8\u306b\u3064\u308c\u3066\u884c\u3063\u305f\u3002\u6642\u306f\u591c\u660e\u3051\u3067\u3042\u3063\u305f\u3002\u5f7c\u3089\u306f\u3001\u3051\u304c\u308c\u3092\u53d7\u3051\u306a\u3044\u3067\u904e\u8d8a\u306e\u98df\u4e8b\u304c\u3067\u304d\u308b\u3088\u3046\u306b\u3001\u5b98\u90b8\u306b\u306f\u3044\u3089\u306a\u304b\u3063\u305f\u300229<\/sup>\u305d\u3053\u3067\u3001\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306f\u5f7c\u3089\u306e\u3068\u3053\u308d\u306b\u51fa\u3066\u304d\u3066\u8a00\u3063\u305f\u3001\u300c\u3042\u306a\u305f\u304c\u305f\u306f\u3001\u3053\u306e\u4eba\u306b\u5bfe\u3057\u3066\u3069\u3093\u306a\u8a34\u3048\u3092\u8d77\u3059\u306e\u304b\u300d\u300230<\/sup>\u5f7c\u3089\u306f\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306b\u7b54\u3048\u3066\u8a00\u3063\u305f\u3001\u300c\u3082\u3057\u3053\u306e\u4eba\u304c\u60aa\u4e8b\u3092\u306f\u305f\u3089\u304b\u306a\u304b\u3063\u305f\u306a\u3089\u3001\u3042\u306a\u305f\u306b\u5f15\u304d\u6e21\u3059\u3088\u3046\u306a\u3053\u3068\u306f\u3057\u306a\u304b\u3063\u305f\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046\u300d\u300231<\/sup>\u305d\u3053\u3067\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306f\u5f7c\u3089\u306b\u8a00\u3063\u305f\u3001\u300c\u3042\u306a\u305f\u304c\u305f\u306f\u5f7c\u3092\u5f15\u304d\u53d6\u3063\u3066\u3001\u81ea\u5206\u305f\u3061\u306e\u5f8b\u6cd5\u3067\u3055\u3070\u304f\u304c\u3088\u3044\u300d\u3002\u30e6\u30c0\u30e4\u4eba\u3089\u306f\u5f7c\u306b\u8a00\u3063\u305f\u3001\u300c\u308f\u305f\u3057\u305f\u3061\u306b\u306f\u3001\u4eba\u3092\u6b7b\u5211\u306b\u3059\u308b\u6a29\u9650\u304c\u3042\u308a\u307e\u305b\u3093\u300d\u300232<\/sup>\u3053\u308c\u306f\u3001\u3054\u81ea\u8eab\u304c\u3069\u3093\u306a\u6b7b\u306b\u304b\u305f\u3092\u3057\u3088\u3046\u3068\u3057\u3066\u3044\u308b\u304b\u3092\u793a\u3059\u305f\u3081\u306b\u8a00\u308f\u308c\u305f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u306e\u8a00\u8449\u304c\u3001\u6210\u5c31\u3059\u308b\u305f\u3081\u3067\u3042\u308b\u3002<\/strong><\/p>\n We see here that Jesus was brought before Pilate to the Praetorium, which was Pilate\u2019s official residence and also where he conducted trials.\u3000 \u3053\u3053\u3067\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306f\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306e\u5bb6\u3067\u3042\u308a\u3001\u307e\u305f\u88c1\u5224\u3082\u884c\u308f\u308c\u305f\u5b98\u90b8\u306b\u9023\u308c\u3066\u884c\u304b\u308c\u305f\u3053\u3068\u304c\u5206\u304b\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n It was early in the morning and it was right before the Passover feast.\u3000 \u305d\u308c\u306f\u65e9\u671d\u3067\u3001\u904e\u8d8a\u306e\u796d\u308a\u306e\u76f4\u524d\u306e\u3053\u3068\u3067\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n Pilate knowing all of this, went out to meet those who brought Jesus before him for judgment.\u3000 \u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306f\u3053\u308c\u3089\u306e\u5168\u3066\u3092\u77e5\u308a\u306a\u304c\u3089\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3092\u88c1\u304f\u305f\u3081\u306b\u9023\u308c\u3066\u6765\u305f\u8005\u305f\u3061\u3092\u51fa\u8fce\u3048\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n For a Jew to enter a Gentile\u2019s home would have defiled them and rendered them unclean to eat the Passover.\u3000 \u30e6\u30c0\u30e4\u4eba\u304c\u7570\u90a6\u4eba\u306e\u5bb6\u306b\u5165\u308b\u3053\u3068\u306f\u3001\u5f7c\u3089\u3092\u6c5a\u3057\u3001\u904e\u8d8a\u306e\u98df\u4e8b\u3092\u3068\u308b\u306e\u306b\u4e0d\u6d44\u306a\u72b6\u614b\u306b\u9665\u3089\u305b\u308b\u3082\u306e\u3067\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n The exchange between Jesus\u2019 accusers and Pilate is quite interesting.\u3000 \u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3092\u544a\u767a\u3057\u305f\u8005\u305f\u3061\u3068\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306e\u9593\u306e\u3084\u308a\u53d6\u308a\u306f\u3001\u975e\u5e38\u306b\u8208\u5473\u6df1\u3044\u3082\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n In response to Pilate\u2019s question of why Jesus was brought before him, the accusers basically already passed judgment on Jesus as being an evildoer.\u3000\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u304c\u306a\u305c\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304c\u81ea\u5206\u306e\u524d\u306b\u9023\u308c\u3066\u6765\u3089\u308c\u305f\u306e\u304b\u3068\u554f\u3046\u3068\u3001\u544a\u767a\u8005\u305f\u3061\u306f\u57fa\u672c\u7684\u306b\u65e2\u306b\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3092\u60aa\u4eba\u3068\u3057\u3066\u88c1\u304d\u3092\u4e0b\u3057\u3066\u3044\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n However, to this, Pilate who must have already heard the accusations that were made toward Jesus, simply told them to \u201cjudge Him according to your law.\u201d\u3000\u3053\u308c\u306b\u5bfe\u3057\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306b\u5411\u3051\u3089\u308c\u305f\u544a\u767a\u3092\u65e2\u306b\u805e\u3044\u3066\u3044\u305f\u3067\u3042\u308d\u3046\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306f\u305f\u3060\u300c\u3042\u306a\u305f\u304c\u305f\u306e\u5f8b\u6cd5\u306b\u5f93\u3063\u3066\u88c1\u304d\u306a\u3055\u3044\u300d\u3068\u8a00\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n Pilate must have thought that what Jesus had done, if He had really done anything, was not a matter that concerned the Roman Empire.\u3000 \u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306f\u3001\u4eee\u306b\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304c\u4f55\u304b\u3092\u3057\u305f\u3068\u3057\u3066\u3082\u3001\u305d\u306e\u884c\u70ba\u306f\u30ed\u30fc\u30de\u5e1d\u56fd\u306b\u95a2\u308f\u308b\u554f\u984c\u3067\u306f\u306a\u3044\u3068\u8003\u3048\u3066\u3044\u305f\u306b\u9055\u3044\u3042\u308a\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002<\/p>\n Thus, the Jews said to him, \u201cWe are not permitted to put anyone to death,\u201d \u305d\u3053\u3067\u30e6\u30c0\u30e4\u4eba\u305f\u3061\u306f\u5f7c\u306b\u8a00\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u300c\u79c1\u305f\u3061\u306b\u306f\u3001\u3060\u308c\u3082\u6b7b\u5211\u306b\u3067\u304d\u308b\u6a29\u9650\u304c\u3042\u308a\u307e\u305b\u3093\u300d\u3068\u3002<\/p>\n indicating that they felt the matter deserved the death sentence.\u3000\u3053\u306e\u3053\u3068\u306f\u3001\u5f7c\u3089\u304c\u3053\u306e\u4ef6\u306f\u6b7b\u5211\u306b\u5024\u3059\u308b\u3082\u306e\u3060\u3068\u8003\u3048\u3066\u3044\u305f\u3053\u3068\u3092\u793a\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n The commentary given by John in verse 32 made it clear that this was to fulfill the word of Jesus which He spoke, signifying by what kind of death He was about to die. \u30e8\u30cf\u30cd\u304c32\u7bc0\u3067\u8a18\u3057\u305f\u89e3\u8aac\u306f\u3001\u3053\u308c\u306f\u3001\u3054\u81ea\u8eab\u304c\u3069\u3093\u306a\u6b7b\u306b\u304b\u305f\u3092\u3057\u3088\u3046\u3068\u3057\u3066\u3044\u308b\u304b\u3092\u793a\u3059\u305f\u3081\u306b\u8a00\u308f\u308c\u305f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u306e\u8a00\u8449\u304c\u3001\u6210\u5c31\u3059\u308b\u305f\u3081\u3060\u3063\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n In other words, Jesus had already declared that He would be handed over to the Gentiles, and will be mocked and mistreated and spit upon,\u00a0scourged, \u8a00\u3044\u63db\u3048\u308c\u3070\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306f\u65e2\u306b\u3001\u7570\u90a6\u4eba\u306b\u5f15\u304d\u6e21\u3055\u308c\u3001\u5632\u3089\u308c\u3001\u8650\u5f85\u3055\u308c\u3001\u553e\u3092\u304b\u3051\u3089\u308c\u3001\u97ad\u6253\u305f\u308c\u3001<\/p>\n and be killed, as well as rise on the third day (Luke There is no question as to who is in control of the situation, even when Jesus is on trial!\u3000 Pilate got right to what he deemed was perhaps just cause for Jesus\u2019 execution, which would have been rebellion against the Roman Empire or challenging the authority of Caesar.\u3000 Jesus threw a question back to Pilate, basically asking him what he thought?\u3000 Perhaps, Jesus knew that Pilate was not really taking this trial nor of Jesus seriously, and thus wanted to awake him to what was truly at stake here.\u3000 In response to Jesus\u2019 question, we almost see exasperation in Pilate\u2019s response.\u3000 \u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u554f\u3044\u306b\u5bfe\u3059\u308b\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306e\u8fd4\u7b54\u306b\u306f\u3001\u307b\u3068\u3093\u3069\u82db\u7acb\u3061\u3055\u3048\u611f\u3058\u3089\u308c\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n Pilate felt this trial was a \u201cJewish\u201d matter that had nothing to do with him.\u3000 Thus, he appealed to Jesus to say what He had done that caused Him to be delivered to Pilate by His own people.\u3000 Here, we see Jesus explaining to Pilate what kind of King He is by describing His kingdom and for what purpose He came into this First, Jesus explained that His kingdom is not of this world, Pilate probably did not ask this question because he was truly interested in the truth.\u3000 It is interesting that in describing Pilate\u2019s fear, John wrote, \u201che was even more afraid.\u201d \u8208\u5473\u6df1\u3044\u3053\u3068\u306b\u3001\u30e8\u30cf\u30cd\u306f\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306e\u6050\u6016\u3092\u300c\u5f7c\u306f\u307e\u3059\u307e\u3059\u6050\u308c\u305f\u300d\u3068\u8a18\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n Pilate in hearing that Jesus made Himself out to be the Son of God must have caused him to become more afraid of Jesus. \u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304c\u81ea\u3089\u3092\u795e\u306e\u5b50\u3068\u79f0\u3057\u305f\u3068\u805e\u304d\u3001\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306b\u5bfe\u3057\u3066\u3055\u3089\u306b\u5f37\u3044\u6050\u6016\u3092\u62b1\u3044\u305f\u306b\u9055\u3044\u3042\u308a\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002<\/p>\n Pilate must have seen in Jesus, even after being scourged and bloodied, someone that was more than just a mere man. Certainly, Jesus was calmer and more collected than Pilate was during this trial. what He was doing and why He was where He was. Pilate must have recognized the fact that Jesus was otherworldly, Since Jesus did not answer this question, Pilate tried to assert his authority by stating that he had the authority to release as well as to crucify Jesus. Truth and sin should cause those who are in authority, especially in places where justice is sought, Pilate was torn, and we see this as the trial of Jesus comes to its conclusion. but he seemed to understand that He was no ordinary person, and at the very least was not a rebellious and violent person.\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304c\u666e\u901a\u306e\u4eba\u7269\u3067\u306f\u306a\u3044\u3053\u3068\u3001\u5c11\u306a\u304f\u3068\u3082\u53cd\u9006\u7684\u3067\u66b4\u529b\u7684\u306a\u4eba\u7269\u3067\u306f\u306a\u3044\u3053\u3068\u306f\u7406\u89e3\u3057\u3066\u3044\u305f\u3088\u3046\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n He also knew that the primary reason that the Jewish religious leaders handed Jesus over to him was strictly due to their envy towards Jesus (Matthew 27:18; Mark So, we see that Pilate truly believed that Jesus was not guilty and therefore made efforts to release Him. However, what made him give into the crowd\u2019s demands was the following statement: \u3057\u304b\u3057\u3001\u5f7c\u304c\u7fa4\u8846\u306e\u8981\u6c42\u306b\u5c48\u3057\u305f\u7406\u7531\u306f\u3001\u6b21\u306e\u8a00\u8449\u306b\u3088\u308b\u3082\u306e\u3067\u3057\u305f\uff1a<\/p>\n \u201cIf you release this Man, you are no friend of Caesar; everyone who makes himself out\u00a0to be<\/em>\u00a0a king\u00a0opposes The last thing Pilate wanted to do was to be seen as someone who supported a king other than Caesar, Therefore, Pilate finally brought Jesus out to render his final decision, and actually allowed the crowd to pronounce judgment on Jesus, which was \u201cAway with Him, away with Him, crucify Him!\u201d And after the chief priests, yes you heard that right, Annas and Caiaphas, the head of the Jewish high council said, In all of this, we see what the apostle John wrote at the very beginning of his Gospel: Of course, the true Light referred to here is Jesus Christ. \u3082\u3061\u308d\u3093\u3001\u3053\u3053\u3067\u8a00\u53ca\u3055\u308c\u3066\u3044\u308b\u771f\u306e\u5149\u3068\u306f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u30fb\u30ad\u30ea\u30b9\u30c8\u306e\u3053\u3068\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n He came to His own, the Jews, and they did not receive Him.\u00a0 They did not believe Him. But here is the good news for all of us: Those who receive Jesus, who believe in His name, who are children of God, are those who are of the truth who hear Jesus\u2019 voice. \u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3092\u53d7\u3051\u5165\u308c\u3001\u305d\u306e\u5fa1\u540d\u3092\u4fe1\u3058\u308b\u8005\u3001\u3059\u306a\u308f\u3061\u795e\u306e\u5b50\u3089\u306f\u3001\u771f\u7406\u306b\u5c5e\u3059\u308b\u8005\u3067\u3042\u308a\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u58f0\u3092\u805e\u304f\u8005\u306a\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n Sadly, Pilate asked the question \u201cWhat is truth?\u201d but could not find the answer in Jesus who stood right before him. \u60b2\u3057\u3044\u304b\u306a\u3001\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306f\u300c\u771f\u7406\u3068\u306f\u4f55\u304b\u300d\u3068\u554f\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u304c\u3001\u307e\u3055\u306b\u76ee\u306e\u524d\u306b\u7acb\u3064\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u4e2d\u306b\u305d\u306e\u7b54\u3048\u3092\u898b\u3044\u3060\u3059\u3053\u3068\u304c\u3067\u304d\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3067\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n So, in a sense, we can say that Pilate put truth on trial and crucified Him to the cross. \u3042\u308b\u610f\u5473\u3001\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306f\u771f\u7406\u3092\u88c1\u304d\u306b\u304b\u3051\u3001\u5341\u5b57\u67b6\u306b\u91d8\u3065\u3051\u306b\u3057\u305f\u3068\u8a00\u3048\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n Why can I say this, because the testimony of the apostle John throughout his Gospel is that Jesus is the truth. Going back to the first chapter of John, he declared concerning Jesus: \u30e8\u30cf\u30cd\u306e\u798f\u97f3\u66f8\u7b2c\u4e00\u7ae0\u306b\u7acb\u3061\u8fd4\u308b\u3068\u3001\u5f7c\u306f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066\u3053\u3046\u5ba3\u8a00\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\uff1a<\/p>\n John 1:14\uff08\u30e8\u30cf\u30cd\u306e\u798f\u97f3\u66f8\uff11\u7ae0\uff11\uff14\u7bc0\uff09<\/p>\n And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. in John 14:6, Jesus\u2019 following words concerning Himself: \u201cI am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.\u201d\u300c\u308f\u305f\u3057\u306f\u9053\u3067\u3042\u308a\u3001\u771f\u7406\u3067\u3042\u308a\u3001\u547d\u3067\u3042\u308b\u3002\u3060\u308c\u3067\u3082\u308f\u305f\u3057\u306b\u3088\u3089\u306a\u3044\u3067\u306f\u3001\u7236\u306e\u307f\u3082\u3068\u306b\u884c\u304f\u3053\u3068\u306f\u3067\u304d\u306a\u3044\u300d\u3002<\/p>\n Here, Jesus is not saying just that He is full of truth, or that He proclaims the truth. \u3053\u3053\u3067\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306f\u3001\u5358\u306b\u81ea\u5206\u304c\u771f\u7406\u306b\u6e80\u3061\u3066\u3044\u308b\u3068\u304b\u3001\u771f\u7406\u3092\u5ba3\u8a00\u3057\u3066\u3044\u308b\u3068\u8a00\u3063\u3066\u3044\u308b\u306e\u3067\u306f\u3042\u308a\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002<\/p>\n He says that He is the truth! \u5f7c\u306f\u300c\u81ea\u5206\u304c\u771f\u7406\u305d\u306e\u3082\u306e\u3067\u3042\u308b\u300d\u3068\u5ba3\u8a00\u3057\u3066\u3044\u308b\u306e\u3067\u3059\uff01<\/p>\n And as such, what He declare is truth, and so He often speaks in such terms. \u3057\u305f\u304c\u3063\u3066\u3001\u5f7c\u304c\u5ba3\u8a00\u3059\u308b\u3053\u3068\u306f\u3059\u3079\u3066\u771f\u7406\u3067\u3042\u308a\u3001\u5f7c\u306f\u3057\u3070\u3057\u3070\u305d\u306e\u3088\u3046\u306a\u8868\u73fe\u3067\u8a9e\u308b\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n And we see this most prevalent in the Gospel of John, where Jesus declares 25 times, \u201cTruly, truly, I say to you, . . .\u201d. \u3053\u306e\u7279\u5fb4\u306f\u30e8\u30cf\u30cd\u306e\u798f\u97f3\u66f8\u3067\u6700\u3082\u9855\u8457\u306b\u898b\u3089\u308c\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306f25\u56de\u306b\u308f\u305f\u308a\u300c\u307e\u3053\u3068\u306b\u3001\u307e\u3053\u3068\u306b\u3001\u3042\u306a\u305f\u304c\u305f\u306b\u544a\u3052\u307e\u3059\u2026\u300d\u3068\u5ba3\u8a00\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n Let me just read a few of these that apply to what Jesus said about Himself. \u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304c\u3054\u81ea\u8eab\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066\u8a9e\u3089\u308c\u305f\u8a00\u8449\u306e\u4e2d\u304b\u3089\u3001\u3044\u304f\u3064\u304b\u8a72\u5f53\u3059\u308b\u7b87\u6240\u3092\u5f15\u7528\u3057\u307e\u3057\u3087\u3046\u3002<\/p>\n John 5:24-25\uff08\u30e8\u30cf\u30cd\u306e\u798f\u97f3\u66f8\uff15\u7ae0\uff12\uff14\uff5e\uff12\uff15\u7bc0\uff09<\/p>\n 24 <\/sup>\u201cTruly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. 25 <\/sup>Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.\u201d also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the John 16:23\uff08\u30e8\u30cf\u30cd\u306e\u798f\u97f3\u66f8\uff11\uff16\u7ae0\uff12\uff13\u7bc0\uff09<\/p>\n \u201cTruly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you.\u201d\u300c\u3088\u304f\u3088\u304f\u3042\u306a\u305f\u304c\u305f\u306b\u8a00\u3063\u3066\u304a\u304f\u3002\u3042\u306a\u305f\u304c\u305f\u304c\u7236\u306b\u6c42\u3081\u308b\u3082\u306e\u306f\u306a\u3093\u3067\u3082\u3001\u308f\u305f\u3057\u306e\u540d\u306b\u3088\u3063\u3066\u4e0b\u3055\u308b\u3067\u3042\u308d\u3046\u300d\u3002<\/strong><\/p>\n These all speak to the importance of hearing Jesus and trusting and obeying Him. \u3053\u308c\u3089\u306f\u3059\u3079\u3066\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306e\u58f0\u3092\u805e\u304d\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3092\u4fe1\u983c\u3057\u3001\u5f93\u3046\u3053\u3068\u306e\u91cd\u8981\u6027\u3092\u7269\u8a9e\u3063\u3066\u3044\u308b\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n Pilate asked the question, \u201cWhat is truth?\u201d \u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306f\u300c\u771f\u7406\u3068\u306f\u4f55\u304b\u300d\u3068\u554f\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n And although he asked it cynically, it is a question that we must all ask ourselves when we are confronted with Jesus. \u76ae\u8089\u3092\u8fbc\u3081\u3066\u6295\u3052\u304b\u3051\u305f\u554f\u3044\u3067\u306f\u3042\u308a\u307e\u3057\u305f\u304c\u3001\u3053\u308c\u306f\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3068\u5411\u304d\u5408\u3046\u6642\u3001\u79c1\u305f\u3061\u3082\u81ea\u554f\u305b\u306d\u3070\u306a\u3089\u306a\u3044\u554f\u3044\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n Pilate thought that he was examining Jesus and putting Him on trial. \u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306f\u81ea\u5206\u304c\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3092\u5be9\u554f\u3057\u88c1\u3044\u3066\u3044\u308b\u3068\u601d\u3044\u8fbc\u3093\u3067\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n Actually, he was being examined by Jesus and Pilate was put on trial. \u3057\u304b\u3057\u5b9f\u969b\u306b\u306f\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u306b\u3088\u3063\u3066\u5f7c\u81ea\u8eab\u304c\u5be9\u7406\u3055\u308c\u3001\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u3053\u305d\u304c\u88c1\u304d\u306e\u5ea7\u306b\u7acb\u305f\u3055\u308c\u3066\u3044\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n The sad reality is that Jesus has always been on trial throughout history and continues to be on trial. \u60b2\u3057\u3044\u73fe\u5b9f\u3068\u3057\u3066\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306f\u6b74\u53f2\u3092\u901a\u3058\u3066\u5e38\u306b\u88c1\u304d\u306e\u5bfe\u8c61\u3067\u3042\u308a\u7d9a\u3051\u3001\u4eca\u3082\u306a\u304a\u88c1\u304d\u3092\u53d7\u3051\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n And every time Jesus is put on trial and examined, we will be confronted with the question, \u201cWhat is truth?\u201d \u305d\u3057\u3066\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304c\u88c1\u304b\u308c\u3001\u5be9\u7406\u3055\u308c\u308b\u305f\u3073\u306b\u3001\u79c1\u305f\u3061\u306f\u300c\u771f\u7406\u3068\u306f\u4f55\u304b\uff1f\u300d\u3068\u3044\u3046\u554f\u3044\u306b\u76f4\u9762\u3059\u308b\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n How would you answer this question?\u3000 \u3053\u306e\u554f\u3044\u306b\u3001\u3042\u306a\u305f\u306f\u3069\u306e\u3088\u3046\u306b\u7b54\u3048\u307e\u3059\u304b\uff1f<\/p>\n The truth is, your eternity depends on your answer to this question.\u3000 \u5b9f\u306f\u3001\u3042\u306a\u305f\u306e\u6c38\u9060\u306e\u547d\u306f\u3001\u3053\u306e\u554f\u3044\u3078\u306e\u7b54\u3048\u306b\u304b\u304b\u3063\u3066\u3044\u308b\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n For Jesus has told us that He is a King and that His kingdom is not of this world.\u3000 \u306a\u305c\u306a\u3089\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u306f\u3054\u81ea\u8eab\u304c\u738b\u3067\u3042\u308a\u3001\u305d\u306e\u738b\u56fd\u306f\u3053\u306e\u4e16\u306e\u3082\u306e\u3067\u306f\u306a\u3044\u3068\u8a9e\u3089\u308c\u305f\u304b\u3089\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n He has declared that He came into this world to testify to the truth.\u3000 \u307e\u305f\u3001\u771f\u7406\u3092\u8a3c\u3057\u3059\u308b\u305f\u3081\u306b\u3053\u306e\u4e16\u306b\u6765\u3089\u308c\u305f\u3068\u5ba3\u8a00\u3055\u308c\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n And He has made it clear that \u201cEveryone who is of the truth hears My voice.\u201d\u3000 \u305d\u3057\u3066\u300c\u771f\u7406\u306b\u5c5e\u3059\u308b\u8005\u306f\u7686\u3001\u308f\u305f\u3057\u306e\u58f0\u306b\u8033\u3092\u50be\u3051\u308b\u300d\u3068\u660e\u3089\u304b\u306b\u3055\u308c\u305f\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n Will you by like Pilate who struggled to come to the right decision regarding who Jesus is?\u3000 \u3042\u306a\u305f\u306f\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u304c\u8ab0\u3067\u3042\u308b\u304b\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066\u6b63\u3057\u3044\u6c7a\u65ad\u3092\u4e0b\u305d\u3046\u3068\u82e6\u60a9\u3057\u305f\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306e\u3088\u3046\u306b\u306a\u308b\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046\u304b\uff1f<\/p>\n Will you succumb to the fear of people rather than fearing God?\u3000 \u3042\u306a\u305f\u306f\u795e\u3092\u754f\u308c\u308b\u3088\u308a\u3082\u3001\u4eba\u306e\u76ee\u3092\u6050\u308c\u3066\u5c48\u670d\u3059\u308b\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046\u304b\uff1f<\/p>\n I just had a conversation regarding the fear of God with someone at a recent memorial service I attended.\u3000\u3064\u3044\u5148\u65e5\u53c2\u5217\u3057\u305f\u30e1\u30e2\u30ea\u30a2\u30eb\u30b5\u30fc\u30d3\u30b9\u3067\u3001\u795e\u3078\u306e\u754f\u308c\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066\u3042\u308b\u4eba\u3068\u8a71\u3057\u305f\u3070\u304b\u308a\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n I explained that to fear God is not to be scared or afraid of Him but to respect and honor Him.\u3000 \u795e\u3092\u754f\u308c\u308b\u3068\u306f\u3001\u795e\u3092\u6016\u304c\u3063\u305f\u308a\u6050\u308c\u305f\u308a\u3059\u308b\u3053\u3068\u3067\u306f\u306a\u304f\u3001\u795e\u3092\u656c\u3044\u5c0a\u3076\u3053\u3068\u3060\u3068\u8aac\u660e\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n It is what we call holy reverence or holy fear.\u3000 \u305d\u308c\u306f\u8056\u306a\u308b\u754f\u656c\u3001\u3042\u308b\u3044\u306f\u8056\u306a\u308b\u754f\u308c\u3068\u547c\u3070\u308c\u308b\u3082\u306e\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n It is recognizing that God deserves our utmost respect \u305d\u308c\u306f\u795e\u69d8\u304c\u79c1\u305f\u3061\u306e\u6700\u5927\u9650\u306e\u5c0a\u656c\u306b\u5024\u3059\u308b\u3053\u3068\u3092\u8a8d\u8b58\u3059\u308b\u3053\u3068\u3067\u3042\u308a\u3001<\/p>\n and therefore our trust and obedience above all other things, including people and worldly the Jews crying out for Jesus\u2019 crucifixion?\u3000\u30d4\u30e9\u30c8\u306b\u3068\u3063\u3066\u305d\u308c\u306f\u3001\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u306e\u5341\u5b57\u67b6\u5211\u3092\u53eb\u3073\u6c42\u3081\u305f\u796d\u53f8\u9577\u305f\u3061\u3068\u30e6\u30c0\u30e4\u4eba\u305f\u3061\u3067\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n Or do we listen to the voice of truth that Jesus did not deserve to be crucified the sinless sacrifice for our sins willingly went to die on the cross in our Or will you accept the truth that God made Jesus who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, \u3000\u305d\u308c\u3068\u3082\u3001\u795e\u69d8\u304c\u7f6a\u3092\u77e5\u3089\u306a\u3044\u30a4\u30a8\u30b9\u69d8\u3092\u79c1\u305f\u3061\u306e\u4ee3\u308f\u308a\u306b\u7f6a\u3068\u3055\u308c\u305f\u3068\u3044\u3046\u771f\u7406\u3092\u53d7\u3051\u5165\u308c\u308b\u306e\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046\u304b\u3002<\/p>\n so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians Will you choose to align yourself with someone that you know is a mere human being with flaws just like you (such as Barabbas)?\u3000 \u3042\u306a\u305f\u306f\u3001\u81ea\u5206\u3068\u540c\u3058\u304f\u6b20\u70b9\u306e\u3042\u308b\u5358\u306a\u308b\u4eba\u9593\uff08\u4f8b\u3048\u3070\u30d0\u30e9\u30d0\u306e\u3088\u3046\u306a\uff09\u3068\u5171\u306b\u3059\u308b\u9053\u3092\u9078\u3076\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046\u304b\uff1f<\/p>\n Or will you choose to side with the sinless Jesus even when it may be an unpopular and possibly dangerous decision?\u3000 Will you listen to the lies of this world and the devil \u3053\u306e\u4e16\u3068\u60aa\u9b54\u306e\u5618\u306b\u8033\u3092\u50be\u3051\u308b\u306e\u3067\u3057\u3087\u3046\u304b\uff1f\u5f7c\u3089\u306f\u771f\u5b9f\u3092\u6b6a\u3081\u3001<\/p>\n that alters the truth and declares there is no truth and therefore no consequence to what we believe and Or will you hear the voice of the One who is Truth, and receive and believe Him, and live together with Him forever in His kingdom?\u3000 In a world of confusion, fake news, and what seems like a multitude of options for us, it is truly a blessing to know the truth found in Jesus Christ.\u3000
