27<\/sup><\/strong> and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. <\/p>\nThe Christ decided to lose His life for the church, because he wanted to make it \u201choly\u201d. Church is the place for people who accepted God\u2019s calling to gather. Christ gave His own life to the Church, where people who accepted his love gathered, that is why God called this place \u201choly\u201d.<\/p>\n
We and Church building by itself actually are not holy but God calls us and the church holy and sanctified. It is not coherent and it seems contradicts. But the world we live is not just made out of things that are coherent, consistent and logical.<\/p>\n
When things beyond coherent or contradiction happen to us, there is always a power acts on us. That power is the power of love. Even if many people say your child is the worst, your child is the best and the dearest one to you.<\/p>\n
God loved his son as much as we love our own children. Though God loved us so deeply, he offered us his only child\u2019s life to us. That\u2019s why God calls church as holy, even the one that is not.<\/p>\n
When we know that we are not deserved to receive God\u2019s special treatment, we are filled with joy and being transformed into person who live for God. This is all miracle of the Church.<\/p>\n
Next, I would like to talk about Catholic Church, from the holy Catholic church.<\/p>\n
The word catholic means very close to the word \u201cuniversal\u201d. So church is all one to God in any ages. In this section, the definition of the word \u201ccatholic\u201d is differs from when we say \u201ccatholic\u201d or \u201cprotestant\u201d.<\/h4>\nIf we understand the meaning of the holy church, we will be able to understand what \u201ccatholic church\u201d really means. We were called to church by the love of Jesus, thus God calls us holy. In front of his strong, deep love, the denominations of Baptist, Presbyterian, or Holiness means nothing. As our love to our own child doesn\u2019t determine by what school they graduated or their physique, all the churches on earth are equally holly in the love of God and those are one church in the eyes of God.<\/h4>\n
About 2000years ago, Paul wrote many letters to several churches. In the letters, he talked about his concerns toward the troubles and problem that churches could face. Sometimes Paul even wrote about shameful event that would not happen even outside of churches, and never gave up and patiently prayed for the church and admonishes<\/p>\n
Our church today and the churches in Paul\u2019s days 2000years ago, are the one holy church before God according to the Appostle\u2019s creed. So we will pray for the church and love the church. We pray and love not only for SDJCC but also for all Christian churches. There is only one reason for us doing so. Because God loves us and our churches as deeply as offering us his son\u2019s life. And he calls us and our church holy. Not all the things happen in church are joyous. Sometimes we shed our tears. But this is a church that God shed His blood on the cross. Why can we not value our church that God loves and says it\u2019s holy?<\/p>\n
Religious reformer John Calvin said,\u201cTo whom God himself is Father , Church is their mother\u201d Whoever calls God the Father, calls Church that Father loves Mother. Calvin asks \u201c If you call God as your Father, why don\u2019t you call church as your mother? \u201c<\/p>\n
Have you ever viewed the church like I explained today? Have you ever had a feeling that our church is just one of the Japanese community groups, or a place doesn\u2019t matter if you go or not? Have you always focused on the fact that one who sees God as their father should see the church as their mother? Because of the love of Christ Jesus who lost his life for our church, because of such love, God calls our church \u201choly\u201d even the building itself doesn\u2019t deserve that name.<\/p>\n
It seems so wondrous all the churches in this whole world and our church is only one church before God. But God\u2019s love overflows in all churches in this world.<\/p>\n
Please do not forget about this and come to the church from now on.<\/p>\n
