イエスの昇天後、弟子たちは約束の聖霊をエルサレムで待ち望みました。では、どうやって待ち望んだのでしょうか？「共に、心を合わせて、ひたすら祈をしていた」とあります。
なぜ彼らは祈ったのか、そしてなぜ祈りは現代の私達教会にとって貴重で重要なのか？それは、祈りは私たちを神と一つにさせるからです。私たちが祈るとき、父なる神に祈ります。私たちは神の御子である、地上での名、イエス、によって祈ります。私たちは聖霊に導かれて祈ります。教会が生まれる前、信仰者のコミュニティーは皆、絶え間なく祈りに参加していました。
使徒行伝を通して、祈りは教会に不可欠な要素であることがわかります。また、新約聖書の書簡の中でも、教会に祈ることを勧めているのが見受けられます。祈りによって、私たちは常に神と密接な交わりを持つことができるのです。聖霊が教会のすべての始まりの場所であるとすれば、祈りは教会の下地となるものです。常に共に祈る教会は、神に喜ばれる教会です。（本多一米）

A Church Pleasing to God (3): Joining Together in Prayer

Happy Father’s Day! It is so good to see so many fathers here with us this morning! I say this, because statistically there are more women in the church than men.
Also, sadly, fatherlessness has become more and more of a problem in our current society. So, this morning, I want to particularly address the fathers and men who are here.
Ladies and children, please do not tune me out, and please don’t think this message is not for you. In fact, if you listen carefully to this message, you will have something to remind yourself and your husband or father about what pleases God.
One of the things that I enjoy most in being a dad is being able to talk to my children, being able to listen to them speak to me. or more specifically I enjoy listening to them talk about what excites them, what troubles them, what they have learned, as well as how they are feeling.
Some of the conversations may center around Minecraft or what kind of computer would be best for playing games. It may be a conversation regarding better forms of mass transportation and how best to limit waste in our household.
It may be a conversation about what took place at work. Interesting facts about co-workers. It may be about the difficulties of getting a superior to process paperwork in order to be able to receive proper training in the military.
It may be about job interviews and future plans. Joys and struggles with life as a whole. I am grateful that my children feel comfortable talking to me.
At the same time, I find great joy when I am able to share my heart with my children. Often times, my children may bring up sports, particularly the Padres, to get me going.
And, I could probably talk hours about sports and the Padres. However, that is not what they want to hear from their dad. I know.
They want to hear words of encouragement. They want to hear words of knowledge and wisdom.
They want to hear of my experiences: funny, good and bad.
They want to hear words of appreciation, such as “Thank you”, and words of apology, such as “I am sorry.” They want to hear words of affection, such as “I love you”, and words of affirmation, such as “I am proud of you.”
Parents, especially of boys, they want to hear you say, “I am proud of you.” Generally speaking, boys crave affirmation while girls crave affection.
I said, generally speaking, so it would be best to provide both for boys and girls. However, as Pastor Okura said last Sunday, we human beings are limited.
We are not perfect. We often fail. That is why, we all need to seek the daily help and filling of the Holy Spirit.
By doing so, we can live a life that is pleasing to God. Husbands and wives can live lives that are pleasing to God. Fathers and mothers can live lives pleasing to God.
Children can live lives pleasing to God Teachers and students can live lives pleasing to God. Those who lead and those who follow can live lives pleasing to God. You get the point.
We all can live lives pleasing to God and thus be a blessing to those around us with the help of the Holy Spirit.Last week, Pastor Okura talked from Acts 1:1-9, and reminded us that the starting point for “a church pleasing to God” is to seek and rely on the Holy Spirit.
Jesus’ final words to His disciples before His ascension was:
“Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 1:4-5, NIV)
And furthermore, He said:
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8, NIV)
The disciples were told to wait for the Holy Spirit, and they did. And on the day of Pentecost, Jesus poured out the Holy Spirit upon them. And as Pastor Okura reminded us last Sunday, the Holy Spirit has continually been at work in the church for these 2000 years.
Well, let’s step back to the time of the disciples waiting for the Holy Spirit. So, how did they spend that time of waiting?
We read about it in Acts 1:12-14:
12 Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day’s walk from the city.13 When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James.14 They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.12
Jesus told His disciples to not leave Jerusalem. That doesn’t seem like a hard thing to do.
However, remember that Jesus’ disciples were not all from Jerusalem. Most if not all of them were from the area known as Galilee.
It was common for the Jews to regularly go up to Jerusalem for their yearly religious festivals. However, once the festival was over, they would return home to where they lived.
Now that they had spent some time with Jesus after His resurrection and had seen Him ascend back to heaven, they probably wanted to hit the road and tell people about Jesus.
Instead, they did just as Jesus told them to do and stayed in Jerusalem. For that is where they were to wait for the gift that God the Father promised, which was the Holy Spirit.
All those present are named, which are the apostles, eleven of the original twelve, because Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus and took his own life.
Along with them also were women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and even Jesus’ brothers. It is believed that there were as many as 120 of them gathered together in this upstairs room in Jerusalem.
However, what is most important to note here is what they were doing here. It says, “They all joined together constantly in prayer.”
Here is our lesson for today. A church pleasing to God is a church that comes together for prayer. Why is prayer so valuable and important for us as a church? Because prayer unites us with God.
When we pray, we pray to God the Father. We pray in God the Son’s, earthly name, Jesus. We pray led by the Holy Spirit. Why do we pray to God the Father? Because Jesus taught us to pray in this manner.
9 “This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.1113 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’” (Matthew 6:9-13, NIV)
Jesus always addressed God as His Father, and He taught His disciples to do the same. Yet, we are reminded that we also have every reason to pray to God as our Father.
14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. (Romans 8:14-17, NIV)
Not only did Jesus teach His disciples to pray to God the Father, but the Spirit enables every child of God to cry out to God, “Abba, Father.”
As I as a dad enjoys listening to my children speak to me, God the Father enjoys listening to us, His children, speak to Him. Also, As I as a dad enjoys sharing my heart with my children, God the Father enjoys sharing His heart with us, His children.
However, I am aware that some of you may have difficulty relating to God as your Heavenly Father. This may be because you had some bad experiences with your father in your childhood, or you may not have had a father while growing up.
It is sad to know that both abuse and abandonment issues persist in this world that we live in. And I can assure you, that just as much as this saddens our hearts, it grieves the heart of God.
Many years ago, I was watching a Japanese program called “Sanma no ManmaOn this particular program, children and mothers were discussing how they felt about their dads being home on the weekend.
I was shocked to hear these mothers and children saying how they couldn’t stand when their dads were at home. I hope none of you feel the same way. However, I know that whatever image that we have of our earthly father impacts our view of our Heavenly Father.
In a message I heard recently given by Pastor Buddy Owens, he shared the following story of what he saw at a men’s conference he was speaking at. There was a man sitting in the front row with his teenage son. The son was in a wheelchair and was severely handicapped.
He was paralyzed from the neck down. He was blind. He couldn’t speak. He had broken his neck playing football in high school. As the men stood up to worship God in singing the hymn “All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name”, the father got up out of his chair and turned to his son, put his hands underneath his son’s arms, and picked him up out of his chair and propped him up on his feet and held him there. Looking right into his face and holding him, he started singing to his son:
“All hail the power of Jesus’ name, let angels prostrate fall, bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all.” The father was singing at the top of his lungs. Singing to this boy.
The boy could not see his dad’s face, but he could hear his voice and he could feel his touch. And as the father is singing to this boy, a smile came on to this kid’s face.
It was like watching the sun break through the clouds. This huge beautiful smile came on this kid’s face.
The men around them are now reaching out and supporting this kid because he’s like a full-grown teenager. So, the dad’s holding him, and all these guys are holding him up and trying to support him as they sang.
And they are bawling seeing this take place before their very eyes. Pastor Bobby Owens went on to say that watching this scene reminded him of a certain passage of Scripture.
“The Lord your God is in your midst, a victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.” (Zephaniah 3:17; NASB)
I don’t know what your image of a father is. However, I want you to burn into your memory this image of the Heavenly Father as you seek Him in prayer.
God the Father rejoices over you with shouts of joy. He takes delight in you for who you are. He delights in you even if you cannot do anything. He delights in you because you are His child! And He wants you to take delight in Him. So, let us continually go to the Heavenly Father in prayer.
We also pray in Jesus’ name. We do this because of Jesus’ promise to His disciples.
12 “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” (John 14:12-14)13 “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.” (John 15:16) 23 “In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.2324 24 Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.” (John 16:23-24)
Though these words are not given generally to us, but specifically to the disciples in an intimate time that Jesus had with them in the Upper Room in Jerusalem on the night before His crucifixion,
the power of praying in Jesus’ name is not to be lost. The power of praying in Jesus’ name is based on His authority as the Son of God.
He is the One who has brought us into a right relationship with God the Father. Thus, when we pray to the Father, and end our prayers in the name of Jesus, we are acknowledging that it is by and only by Jesus that we have access to God the Father in prayer.
14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.1415 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.1516Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (Hebrews 4:14-16)
At the same time, praying in Jesus’ name or invoking Jesus’ name is not appropriate for those who do not place their faith in Him, and have no relationship with God.
13 Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, “In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.” 14 Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. 15 One day the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” 16 Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding. (Acts 19:13-16)
Praying to God the Father in Jesus’ name is a blessing. It is a blessing given to those who by faith in Jesus Christ are made children of God by the indwelling Holy Spirit. As no stranger would approach me as if I were their dad, and ask for me to act on their behalf, no stranger to God can ask Him to act on their behalf.
So, if you are not able to cry out to God, “Abba, Father!” or declare, “Jesus is Lord!”, then I encourage you to consider where you stand in relationship to God.
If you know you do not currently have a right relationship with God, and you would like to become His child, then consider the following verses from the Bible.
12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:12-13)12
The Him referenced here is Jesus Christ. Thus, you can become a child of God the Father by believing in Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
When you place your faith in Jesus as the Son of God, trusting His work of dying on the cross for your sins and His resurrection from the dead, you will receive the Holy Spirit.
You don’t need anyone’s help to do this.
Actually, if your heart is leading you to do this, it is the Holy Spirit that is helping you to do so. You can do so right now, even as I continue to give this message.
In the quiet of your heart, you can pray to God through faith in Christ, seeking His forgiveness and salvation. At the same time, if you do not feel ready, or would like to find out more about this, please come and talk to either Pastor Okura or myself after the worship service. We would love to meet together with you. When you become a child of God, then, you will be able to pray to God the Father in Jesus’ name without any reservations.
And as it is by the Spirit that we can cry out to God, “Abba, Father!”, it is by the Spirit that we can truly pray.
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. (Romans 8:26-27)
Thus, as Jesus ascended back to heaven and the disciples waited for the Holy Spirit, “They all joined together constantly in prayer.” Though the Holy Spirit did not come upon the disciples until the Day of Pentecost, the Spirit must have led them to wait in prayer.
Before the Church was born, the community of believers all joined together constantly in prayer. We know that prayer was not just something they did together during those ten days leading up to the Day of Pentecost.
We see prayer being an integral part of the church throughout the book of Acts. We also see the exhortation to the churches to pray throughout the New Testament.
Dads, if you want to be a better dad, then you need to seek to be a dad that is pleasing to God. To be a dad pleasing to God, you want to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
To be filled with the Holy Spirit, you want to be a dad that prays constantly. You want to pray for and with your children.
You want to teach them the joy of knowing the Heavenly Father. Although we as dads may do our very best for our children, we are not perfect, and we will not always be around for them. However, if as dads we can point our children to the Heavenly Father, and they know the blessing of being able to continually pray to Him in Jesus’ name by the leading of the Holy Spirit, then we can find comfort and joy in knowing that we are pleasing God. For all of us, a church pleasing to God is one that comes together constantly in prayer, because through prayer we are continually in close communion with God.
The wonderful thing about prayer is that we do not need to purchase anything in order to communicate with God. We do not need a cell phone. We do not need an email account or a Zoom account.
We do not need any social media accounts or special apps. We can pray anywhere and at all times. We can pray alone in a prayer closet and together with hundreds of people.
Gathering together for prayer was an integral part of the early church, and has been for the church to this day. If the Holy Spirit is where everything started with the church, prayer is the groundwork of the church.
A church that constantly prays together is a church pleasing to God. In closing, listen to what Jesus said regarding praying for the Holy Spirit.
9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. 11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” (Luke 11:9-13)
Dads, did you get the message? We may do our best to provide for our children, but we cannot outgive God. Only God the Father can truly give us what is bestOnly God the Father can give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him.
People in the Lord, let us be a church that comes together as one in prayer, seeking to live lives filled with the Holy Spirit. Such is a church that pleases God.

神に喜ばれる教会（３）：共に祈る

父の日おめでとうございます。 今朝は、たくさんの父親である皆さんと共にこの礼拝を捧げることができますことを、とても嬉しく思っています。というのも、統計上、男性よりも女性の方が教会には多く集ってくるからです。
また、悲しいことに、現代社会では、父親不在がますます問題になってきています。ですから、今朝はここにいらっしゃるお父さん、男性に向けて特にお話をしたいと思います。
女性や子供達もどうか私の話を聞き流したり、このメッセージは自分のためのものではないと思ったりしないでください。実際、このメッセージを注意深くお聞きくだされば、神を喜ばせることについて、自分も、また夫や父親にも気がつかされることがあるはずです。
私が父親として最も楽しんでいることの一つは、子供と話し、彼らが話すことを聞くことができること、すなわち、子供が私に興奮したこと、悩んだこと、学んだこと、そして感じたことを話してくれることを聞くのが楽しいのです。
マインクラフトの話や、ゲームをするのに最適なコンピューターについての話もあります。また、よりより交通手段についてや、家庭でのゴミの減らし方についてなどの会話もあります。
職場で起こったことについての会話かもしれません。 同僚についての興味深い話ということもあるでしょう。 軍隊で適切な訓練を受けるために、上司に必要な書類を依頼することの難しさについてかもしれません。
就職の面接や将来の計画についてかもしれません。 人生全体に関する喜びや苦労ということもあります。子供達が私に気軽に話しかけてくれることに感謝しています。
同時に子供達に私の心を分ち合うことができることにも大きな喜びを感じます。子供達がスポーツ、特にパドレスの話題を振ってくれることもよくあります。
そして、私はスポーツやパドレスについて何時間でも話すことができます。しかし、それは彼らが父親から聞きたいことではないことを、私は知っています。
彼らは、励ましの言葉を聞きたいのです。彼らは知識や知恵の言葉を聞きたいと思っています。 面白いことであれ、良いこと、悪いことであれ、彼らは私の経験を聞きたいのです。
彼らは「ありがとう」という感謝の言葉や、「ごめんなさい」という謝罪の言葉を聞きたいのです。「愛しているよ」などの愛情表現、「誇りに思うよ」という肯定的な言葉を聞きたいのです。
親の皆さん、特に男の子の場合は「あなたを誇りに思うよ」というあなたの言葉を彼らは聞きたいのです。一般的に男の子は認められることを、女の子は愛情を切望していると言われています。
ですから男の子にも女の子にもこの両方を与えることがベストでしょう。しかし、先週の日曜日に大倉牧師が話したように、私達、人間には限界があります。
私たちは完璧ではありません。 失敗することも多いのです。 ですから、私達は皆、日毎の聖霊の助けと満たしを求めていく必要があるのです。
そうすることによって、私達は神様に喜ばれる人生を送ることができるのです。夫と妻は神様に喜ばれる人生を送ることができます。父と母は神様に喜ばれる人生を送ることができます。
子供達は神様に喜ばれる人生を送ることができます。教師と生徒は神に喜ばれる人生を送ることができます。 指導する人と従う人は神に喜ばれる人生を送ることができます。要点は分かっていただけたでしょうか。
私達は皆、聖霊の助けによって、神に喜ばれる生き方をし、それによって周りの人たちを祝福することができるのです。先週、大倉牧師は使徒行伝１章１節―９節から「神に喜ばれる教会」の始まりは聖霊を求め、聖霊に寄り頼むことであると語りました。
イエス様が昇天される前に弟子たちに言われた最後の言葉はこのようなものでした。
「エルサレムから離れないで、かねてわたしから聞いていた父の約束を待っているがよい。すなわち、ヨハネは水でバプテスマを授けたが、あなたがたは間もなく聖霊によって、バプテスマを授けられるであろう」。（使徒行伝1:4-5）
さらにイエス様は言われました。「ただ、聖霊があなたがたにくだる時、あなたがたは力を受けて、エルサレム、ユダヤとサマリヤの全土、さらに地のはてまで、わたしの証人となるであろう」。（使徒行伝1:8）
弟子達は聖霊を待つように言われ、彼らはその通りにしました。そしてペンテコステの日、イエス様は彼らに聖霊を注いでくださったのです。先週の日曜日に大倉牧師は、この２０００年の間、聖霊は絶えず教会の中ではたらき続けていると話しました。
さて、ここで、弟子たちが聖霊を待ち望んでいた時代に戻ってみましょう。彼らはその待ち望む時をどのように過ごしたのでしょうか。使徒行伝１章１２～１４節にそのことが書かれています。
それから彼らは、オリブという山を下ってエルサレムに帰った。この山はエルサレムに近く、安息日に許されている距離のところにある。13彼らは、市内に行って、その泊まっていた屋上の間にあがった。その人たちは、ペテロ、ヨハネ、ヤコブ、アンデレ、ピリポとトマス、バルトロマイとマタイ、アルパヨの子ヤコブと熱心党のシモンとヤコブの子ユダとであった。14彼らはみな、婦人たち、特にイエスの母マリヤ、およびイエスの兄弟たちと共に、心を合わせて、ひたすら祈をしていた。
イエス様は弟子達にエルサレムから離れるなと言われました。それは、難しいことではないように思えます。しかし、イエス様の弟子達は、皆、エルサレム出身ではなかったことを思い出してください。全員ではないにしても、ほとんどはガリラヤと呼ばれる地域の出身でした。
ユダヤ人達が年に一度、宗教的な祭りのために、定期的にエルサレムに上っていくことは普通でした。
しかし、祭りが終わると、彼らは自分の住んでいるところに帰ります。イエス様が復活して、彼らはしばらく共にイエス様と過ごし、天に昇られるのを見たので、彼らはイエス様のことを人々に伝えようと思ったのでしょう。
しかし、彼らはイエスに言われたとおりに、エルサレムに留まりました。 なぜなら、そこで彼らは、父なる神が約束された贈り物、すなわち聖霊を待つことになったからです。
その場にいたすべての人の名前が挙げられていますが、これは使徒たちのことで、イスカリオテのユダがイエスを裏切って自ら命を絶ったので、本来の１２人のうちの１１人です。
女性やイエスの母マリア、さらにはイエスの兄弟達もそこに一緒にいました。このエルサレムの二階の部屋に集まったのは１２０人にも及んだと言われています。
しかし、ここで最も注目すべきは、彼らがここで何をしていたかということです。そこには「彼らは皆、心を合わせて祈り続けていた」とあります。
これが今日の教訓です。 神に喜ばれる教会とは、祈りのために集まっている教会です。なぜ、祈りは私達教会にとって貴重なことであり、大切なのでしょうか。 それは、祈りが私達を神様と一つにするからです。
私達が祈るとき、父なる神様に祈ります。 私達は御子である神の地上の名前、イエスの御名で祈ります。 私たちは聖霊に導かれて祈ります。なぜ、私達は父なる神様に祈るのでしょうか？ それは、イエス様が私達にこのように祈るように教えられたから です。
9「だから、あなたがたはこう祈りなさい、『天にいますわれらの父よ、御名があがめられますように。10御国がきますように。みこころが天に行われるとおり、地にも行われますように。わたしたちの日ごとの食物を、きょうもお与えください。12わたしたちに負債のある者をゆるしましたように、わたしたちの負債をもおゆるしください。13わたしたちを試みに会わせないで、悪しき者からお救いください。』」（マタイ書6:9-13）
イエス様はいつも神を父と呼び、弟子達にも同じように呼ぶように教えられました。 そして、私達にも父として神に祈る十分な理由があることが思い起こさせます。
14すべて神の御霊に導かれている者は、すなわち、神の子である。15あなたがたは再び恐れをいだかせる奴隷の霊を受けたのではなく、子たる身分を授ける霊を受けたのである。その霊によって、わたしたちは「アバ、父よ」と呼ぶのである。16御霊みずから、わたしたちの霊と共に、わたしたちが神の子であることをあかしして下さる。17もし子であれば、相続人でもある。神の相続人であって、キリストと栄光を共にするために苦難をも共にしている以上、キリストと共同の相続人なのである。（ローマ書8:14-17）
イエス様は弟子達に父なる神に祈るように教えられただけでなく、御霊は神の全ての子供が神に向かって「アバ、父よ」と叫ぶことを可能にしてくださいます。
父親である私が子供たちから話しかけられるのを楽しんでいるように、父なる神は子供達である私達が神に語りかけるのを楽しんでおられるのです。また、私が父親として子供達と心を通わせることを楽しんでいるように、父なる神様も私達、子供達と心を通わせることを楽しんでおられます。
しかし、皆さんの中には、天の父である神と関わることに難しさを感じている人がいることも承知しています。それは、子供の頃に父親に嫌な思いをさせられたからかもしれませんし、成長の過程において父親がいなかったからかもしれません。
私達の住むこの世界には、虐待や育児放棄の問題が根強く残っていることを知るのは悲しいことです。
そして、このことが私達の心を悲しませるのと同じように、神の心も悲しませることを私は断言できます。
随分前に私は「さんまのまんま」という日本の番組を見ていました。その番組では、子供達と母親が、週末に父親が家にいることについてどう感じているかを話し合っていました。
お父さんが家にいるのが耐えられないというお母さんや子どもたちの声を聞いて、私はショックを受けました。皆さんも同じように感じている人がいないことを祈ります。しかし、私達が地上の父親に対して抱いているイメージは、天の父親に対する見方に影響を与えることを、私は知っています。
最近聞いたバディ・オーエンス牧師のメッセージの中で、彼が講演した男性の集まりで見たことを次のように話しています。最前列に１０代の息子と一緒に座っている男性がいました。その息子は車椅子に乗っていて、重度の障害者でもありました。
彼は首から下が麻痺していました。 目が見えませんでした。 話すこともできません。彼は高校時代にフットボールをしていて、首を骨折していたのです。男性たちが立ち上がって神を礼拝し、賛美歌「天つみ使いよ」を歌った時、父親は椅子から立ち上がり、息子の方を向き、 息子の腕の下に手を入れて、椅子から抱き上げ、足で支えて、抱き抱えました。息子の顔を真正面から見つめ、抱きかかえながら、息子に向かって歌い始めたのです。
「イエスの御名の力に万歳！天使をひれ伏させ、王冠をもたらし、全てのものの主にそれをかぶせよ」。父親は大声で歌いました。この少年に向かって歌っているのです。
少年はお父さんの顔は見えませんが、声は聞こえ、手触りも感じられました。そして、お父さんがこの男の子に歌っているとき、この子の顔には笑顔が浮かんできました。
それはまるで、雲の切れ間から太陽が顔を出すのを見るようでした。この子供の顔には、この大きな美しい笑顔が浮かんでいました。
周りの男達が手を差し伸べて、この子をサポートするようになったのは、この子が成長したティーンエイジャーのようだったからです。父親が彼を抱きかかえ、周りの男たちが彼を支え、歌おうとしているのです。
そして、この光景を目の当たりにして、彼らは涙を流していました。ボビー・オーウェンズ牧師は、この光景を見て、ある聖書の一節を思い出したと言います。
「あなたの神、主はあなたのうちにいまし、勇士であって、勝利を与えられる。彼はあなたのために喜び楽しみ、その愛によってあなたを新にし、祭の日のようにあなたのために喜び呼ばわられる」。（ゼパニヤ書3:17）
あなたの父親像がどのようなものであるかは知りません。 しかし、あなたが祈りの中で天の父を求める時、この天の父のイメージをあなたの記憶に焼きつけてほしいのです。
父なる神は喜びの声をあげてあなたを喜ばれます。あなたが何者であるかを喜ばれるのです。 たとえあなたが何もできなくても、あなたを喜ばれます。あなたが神の子であるからこそ、神はあなたを喜ばれるのです。 そして、あなたが神を喜ぶことを望んでおられるのです。ですから、私達は絶えず天の父のもとに行き、祈りましょう。
また、イエスの御名によって祈りましょう。 これは、イエス様が弟子達に約束されたからです。
「よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。わたしを信じる者は、またわたしのしているわざをするであろう。そればかりか、もっと大きいわざをするであろう。わたしが父のみもとに行くからである。
12わたしの名によって願うことは、なんでもかなえてあげよう。父が子によって栄光をお受けになるためである。14何事でもわたしの名によって願うならば、わたしはそれをかなえてあげよう。」（ヨハネ書14:12-14）「あなたがたがわたしを選んだのではない。わたしがあなたがたを選んだのである。そして、あなたがたを立てた。それは、あなたがたが行って実をむすび、その実がいつまでも残るためであり、また、あなたがたがわたしの名によって父に求めるものはなんでも、父が与えて下さるためである。」（ヨハネ書15:16）「その日には、あなたがたがわたしに問うことは、何もないであろう。よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。あなたがたが父に求めるものはなんでも、わたしの名によって下さるであろう。24今までは、あなたがたはわたしの名によって求めたことはなかった。求めなさい、そうすれば、与えられるであろう。そして、あなたがたの喜びが満ちあふれるであろう。」（ヨハネ書16:23-24）
この言葉は、私達に与えられたものではなく、イエス様が十字架にかかる前夜、エルサレムの二階座敷で弟子達と親密な時間を過ごした時に特別に与えられたものですが、イエスの名によって祈ることの力は失われてはいません。イエスの名によって祈ることの力は、神の子としてのイエスの権威に基づくものです
イエスは、私達を父なる神との正しい関係に導いてくださった方です。ですから、私達が父なる神様に祈り、イエスの御名で祈りを終える時、 達が祈りにおいて父なる神様に近づくことができるのは、イエスによるものであり、イエスだけであることを認めることになるのです。
さて、わたしたちには、もろもろの天をとおって行かれた大祭司なる神の子イエスがいますのであるから、わたしたちの告白する信仰をかたく守ろうではないか。4この大祭司は、わたしたちの弱さを思いやることのできないようなかたではない。罪は犯されなかったが、すべてのことについて、わたしたちと同じように試錬に会われたのである。16だから、わたしたちは、あわれみを受け、また、恵みにあずかって時機を得た助けを受けるために、はばかることなく恵みの御座に近づこうではないか。（ヘブル書4:14-16）
同時に、イエスの名で祈ることやイエスの名を呼び出すことは、イエスに信仰を置かない、神との関係を持たない人々には適切ではありません。
13そこで、ユダヤ人のまじない師で、遍歴している者たちが、悪霊につかれている者にむかって、主イエスの名をとなえ、「パウロの宣べ伝えているイエスによって命じる。出て行け」と、ためしに言ってみた。14ユダヤの祭司長スケワという者の七人のむすこたちも、そんなことをしていた。15すると悪霊がこれに対して言った、「イエスなら自分は知っている。パウロもわかっている。だが、おまえたちは、いったい何者だ」。16そして、悪霊につかれている人が、彼らに飛びかかり、みんなを押えつけて負かしたので、彼らは傷を負ったまま裸になって、その家を逃げ出した。（使徒行伝19:13-16）
イエスの名によって父なる神に祈ることは、祝福です。それは、イエス・キリストを信じる信仰によって、内在する聖霊によって神の子とされた者に与えられる祝福なのです。見知らぬ人が自分の父親のように私に近づいてきて、自分のために行動してくれるように頼むことはないように、見知らぬ人が自分のために神に行動してくれるように頼むことはできないのです。
ですから、もしあなたが神に向かって「アッバ、父よ！」と叫んだり、「イエスは主です！」と宣言したりできないなら、自分が神との関係の中でどこに立っているかを考えてみることをお勧めします。
もしあなたが現在、神との正しい関係を持っていないことを知っていて、神の子どもとなりたいと願っているなら、聖書の次の箇所を考えてみてください。
しかし、彼を受けいれた者、すなわち、その名を信じた人々には、彼は神の子となる力を与えたのである。13それらの人は、血すじによらず、肉の欲によらず、また、人の欲にもよらず、ただ神によって生れたのである。（ヨハネ書1:12-13）
ここでいう「彼」とは、イエス・キリストのことです。ですから、あなたは神の子であるイエス・キリストを信じることによって、父なる神の子となることができるのです。
あなたが神の子であるイエスを信じ、あなたの罪のために十字架上で死に、死からよみがえったイエスのわざを信頼するとき、あなたは聖霊を受けるのです。このためには、誰の助けも必要ではありません。
もし、あなたの心がそうするように導いているならば、それは聖霊があなたを助けてくれているのです。 私がこのメッセージを続けている間にも、あなたは今すぐそうすることができます。
心の静けさの中で、キリストへの信仰を通して神に祈り、神の赦しと救いを求めることができるのです。同時に、まだ準備ができていない方、もっと詳しく知りたい方は、 礼拝後に大倉牧師か私のところに来て、お話しください。一緒にお会いしたいと思います。あなたが神の子となったとき、そのとき、あなたは何のためらいもなく、イエスの名によって父なる神に祈ることができるようになるのです。
そして、「アッバ、父よ！」と神に叫ぶことができるように、御霊によってこそ、私たちは真に祈ることができるのです。
26御霊もまた同じように、弱いわたしたちを助けて下さる。なぜなら、わたしたちはどう祈ったらよいかわからないが、御霊みずから、言葉にあらわせない切なるうめきをもって、わたしたちのためにとりなして下さるからである。そして、人の心を探り知るかたは、御霊の思うところがなんであるかを知っておられる。なぜなら、御霊は、聖徒のために、神の御旨にかなうとりなしをして下さるからである。（ローマ書8:26-27）
このように、イエスが天に昇り、弟子たちが聖霊を待っている間、”彼らは皆、一つとなり絶えず祈りをしていたのです。聖霊が弟子たちに下ったのはペンテコステの日ですが、聖霊は弟子たちを導いて、祈りながら待つようにさせたのでしょう。
教会が生まれる前、信者の共同体は皆、絶え間なく祈っていました。祈りはペンテコステの日までの１０日間にだけ行われたのではないことが分かります。
使徒行伝を通して、祈りは教会に不可欠なものであることがわかります。また、新約聖書全体を通して、教会に祈ることを勧めているのを見ます。
お父さん、もしあなたがより良いお父さんになりたいと願うなら、神に喜ばれるお父さんになることを求めなければなりません。神に喜ばれる父親になるためには、聖霊に満たされることが必要です。
聖霊に満たされるためには、絶えず祈る父親でありたいと思います。子供たちのために、子供たちとともに祈りたいものです。
天の御父を知る喜びを子供たちに教えたいものです。私達、父親は子供達のために最善を尽くしているかもしれませんが、 完璧ではありませんし、いつも子供たちのそばにいるわけではありません。しかし、父親として子供たちを天の父に導くことができ、子供たちが聖霊の導きによってイエスの名によって絶えず天に祈ることができる祝福を知るなら、 私達は神に喜ばれていることを知り、慰めと喜びを見出すことができます。全ての私達にとって、神に喜ばれる教会とは、絶えず祈るために集まり、神との密接な交わりを持つ教会です。
祈りの素晴らしいところは、神とコミュニケーションをとるために何かを購入する必要がないことです。携帯電話も必要ありません。 電子メールのアカウントも、ズームのアカウントも必要ありません。
ソーシャルメディアのアカウントや特別なアプリも必要ありません。私達はいつでも、どこでも祈ることができます。 祈りの部屋で一人で祈ることも、何百人もの人たちと一緒に祈ることもできます。
祈りのために集まることは、初代教会にとって不可欠なものであり、今日に至るまで、教会にとって不可欠なものです。聖霊が教会のすべての始まりの場所であるならば、祈りは教会の土台となるものです。
常に共に祈る教会は、神に喜ばれる教会なのです。最後に、聖霊のために祈ることについて、イエス様が言われたことを聞いてください。
「そこでわたしはあなたがたに言う。求めよ、そうすれば、与えられるであろう。捜せ、そうすれば見いだすであろう。門をたたけ、そうすれば、あけてもらえるであろう。
10すべて求める者は得、捜す者は見いだし、門をたたく者はあけてもらえるからである。あなたがたのうちで、父であるものは、その子が魚を求めるのに、魚の代りにへびを与えるだろうか。12卵を求めるのに、さそりを与えるだろうか。13このように、あなたがたは悪い者であっても、自分の子供には、良い贈り物をすることを知っているとすれば、天の父はなおさら、求めて来る者に聖霊を下さらないことがあろうか」。（ルカ書11:9-13）
お父さん、メッセージは届きましたか？ 私たちは子どものために最善を尽くしても、神を出し抜くことはできないのです。
父なる神だけが、本当に最良のものを与えることができます。父なる神だけが、求める者に聖霊を与えることができるのです。
主にある皆さん、私達は祈りのうちに一つになって、聖霊に満たされた生活を求めていく教会でありましょう。そのような教会こそ、神様に喜ばれる教会です。祈りましょう。
