イエス様は、私達の救いをもたらすために天国からこの世に来られたのです。イエス様が十字架上で「完了した！」と宣言された時、彼は十字架の死により私達の罪の負債を完済するという、私達の誰もできないことを成し遂げたのです。そして、墓に葬られ、三日目に死から蘇られたのです。
イエス様は復活の後、ご自分に関する福音を宣べ伝える弟子達を励まし、続けさせ、弟子達が聖霊の力によってそうすることを思い起こさせるために、この地上で４０日を過ごしました。イエス様はこの地上での働き、この世に遣わされた召命と目的を果たした後、天国に昇られた（帰られた）のです。
このメッセージでは、使徒信条の「天に昇り、全能の父なる神の右に座したまえり」の声明文を見ます。そうすることで、イエス様が天に昇られたことの意義と、それが私たちにとって何を意味するのかを考えてみます（本多）。

Let me begin this morning by talking to the youth and college students. 今朝はまず、若者と大学生に向けてお話をしましょう。
How many of you enjoy going to school? 学校に行くのを楽しみにしている人はどれくらい、いますか？
Which do you look forward to more: Going to school or going back home? 学校に行くのと家に帰るのと、どちらが楽しみですか。
You may not think about it as such, but going to school is like going to work. 皆さんは そのように考えないかもしれませんが、学校に行くことは仕事に行くようなものです。
You go to school to learn and to study, and this is your work as a student. 学ぶために学校に行き、勉強する。それは学生としての仕事です。
And when you are done with your work for the day, you go home. そして、その日の仕事が終わると家に帰る。
I know, sometimes the work comes home with you in the form of homework. 宿題という形で仕事と共に家に帰ることもあります。
But I am highlighting here the routine of going to school and then going home. しかし、私がここで強調しているのは、学校に行き、そして家に帰るというルーティンです。
Now, let me address the working adults. それでは話を働いている大人の方々に向けましょう。
The Covid-19 pandemic changed many things in this world. コビッド１９のパンデミックは、この世界の多くのことを変えました。
One of the things it has changed is the way that we do work. その一つが仕事のやり方です。
How many of you now do your work at home, if not all the time, at least partially? 今、自宅で仕事をしている人はどれくらい、いるでしょうか？
I am assuming that most of you who now work at home, used to go to a physical location other than your home to work. 今、自宅で仕事をしている皆さんのほとんどは、以前は自宅以外の場所に行って仕事をしていたのではないでしょうか。
You left home, got to your work place, worked, and then after your work for the day was done, you went back home. 家を出て職場に行き、仕事をし、その日の仕事が終わると家に帰る。
So, again, we see here a routine of going to work and then going home. つまり、ここにも仕事に行き、家に帰るという決まった習慣が見られます。
Sometimes, we are sent on a business trip where we may be away from home for more than a day. 私達は時々、出張で一日以上家を空けることもあります。
Those who have experienced a military deployment know of long stretches of being away from home. 軍隊に派遣された経験のある人なら、長い間、家を空けるということを知っています。
However, after your work, trip, assignment, or deployment is done, you are allowed to go home. しかし、仕事、出張、任務、配備が終われば、家に帰ることが許されます。
Jesus was sent into this world to do the work of the Father. イエス様は御父の仕事をするためにこの世に遣わされました。
He left His home, Heaven, to His assigned work place, Earth. イエス様はご自分の家である天国を離れ、与えられた仕事場である地球へと向かわれました。
From the time of His birth, becoming a human being, born of a virgin by the work of the Holy Spirit, His purpose and calling were determined. 聖霊の働きによって処女から生まれ、人間となった時から、イエス様の目的と召命は決まっていました。
The name given to Him by God through an angel that spoke to His earthly father Joseph makes this clear.地上の父ヨセフに語った天使を通して、神様から与えられた名前が、このことを明らかにしています。
Matthew 1:21（マタイ1章21節）
“and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”「その名をイエスと名づけなさい。彼は、おのれの民をそのもろもろの罪から救う者となるからである」。
Jesus came to save us from the wages of sin which is death (Romans 6:23). イエス様は、罪の報酬である死から私達を救うために来られました（ローマ６章２３節）。
He came into this world for the purpose of bringing about our salvation. イエス様は、私達の救いをもたらすためにこの世に来られたのです。
When Jesus declared on the cross, “It is finished!”, He accomplished what none of us can do, and that was to pay fully for the debt of our sins through His death on the cross.イエス様が十字架上で「完了した！」と宣言された時、彼は十字架の死により私達の罪の負債を完済するという、私達の誰もできないことを成し遂げたのです。
However, He didn’t quite clock out of work at that moment. He still had the resurrection awaiting Him. しかし、その瞬間に仕事を終えたわけではありません。まだ復活が待ち受けていたのです。
Which we looked at in detail, last week, as we celebrated Resurrection (Easter) Sunday. 先週、私達は復活（イースター）の日曜日をお祝いしましたので、それを詳しく見ました。
Jesus’ resurrection from the dead proved that His sacrifice was perfect, イエス様の死からの復活は、イエス様の犠牲が完全であったこと、
and that death no longer had power over those who are saved through faith in Him. そして、死はもはやイエス様を信じる信仰によって救われた人々を支配する力を持っていないことを証明しました。
Still, Jesus was not quite done with His time here on Earth. それでも、イエス様はこの地上での生涯を終えませんでした。
There was another promise that God had given to His people, and that was the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon them. 神様がご自分の民に与えたもう一つの約束があり、それは彼らの上に聖霊が望むということでした。
Thus, after His resurrection, Jesus spent 40 days on this earth in order to encourage His disciples to carry on the work of proclaiming the Good News concerning Himself, そのため、イエス様は復活の後、ご自分に関する福音を宣べ伝える弟子達を励まし、続けさせ、
and to remind them that they would do so in the power of the Holy Spirit. 弟子達が聖霊の力によってそうすることを思い起こさせるために、この地上で４０日を過ごしました。
But like all good workers who finish their work, Jesus too accomplished what God the Father had set out for Him to do, and He was now ready to go back home. しかし、全ての良い働き手がその仕事を終えるように、イエス様もまた、父なる神がご自分のために定められたことを成し遂げられ、家に帰る備えが整いました。
Jesus was done with His job here on Earth, fulfilling the calling and purpose for which He was sent to this world for, and He was ready to head back to Heaven. イエス様はこの地上での仕事を終え、この世に遣わされた召命と目的を果たし、天国に帰る準備ができたのです。
Today, we are going to be looking at the statement in the Apostles’ Creed: He ascended into heaven, He is seated at the right hand of the Father. 今日、私達は使徒信条の「天に昇り、全能の父なる神の右に座したまえり」を見ていきます。
Let us begin by looking at Luke’s account found in Acts 1:1-11 of what Jesus did after His resurrection and leading up to His ascension back to heaven. まず、使徒行伝１章１節から１１節にある、イエス様が復活した後、天に昇られるまでのルカの記述から見てみましょう。
Acts 1:1-5（使徒行伝１章１節－５節）
1 The first account I composed, Theophilus, about all that Jesus began to do and teach, 2 until the day when He was taken up to heaven, after He had by the Holy Spirit given orders to the apostles whom He had chosen. 3 To these He also presented Himself alive after His suffering, by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God. 4 Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me; 5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 1テオピロよ、わたしは先に第一巻を著わして、イエスが行い、また教えはじめてから、2お選びになった使徒たちに、聖霊によって命じたのち、天に上げられた日までのことを、ことごとくしるした。3イエスは苦難を受けたのち、自分の生きていることを数々の確かな証拠によって示し、四十日にわたってたびたび彼らに現れて、神の国のことを語られた。4そして食事を共にしているとき、彼らにお命じになった、「エルサレムから離れないで、かねてわたしから聞いていた父の約束を待っているがよい。5すなわち、ヨハネは水でバプテスマを授けたが、あなたがたは間もなく聖霊によって、バプテスマを授けられるであろう」。
In verses 1 and 2, at the beginning of the book of Acts, we see that Luke was writing this account concerning Jesus, as well as the first account he composed, referring to the Gospel of Luke, to a person named Theophilus. 使徒行伝の冒頭の１節と２節では、ルカがこのイエス様に関する記述と、ルカの福音書を参照した最初の記述を、テオピロという人物に向けて書いていたことが分かります。
Theophilus means “one who loves God”. テオピロとは「神を愛する者」という意味です。
In the notes of the study Bible I use, it mentions that this could be a general dedication by Luke to all Christian readers. 私が使っているスタディバイブルの注釈には、これはルカが全てのクリスチャン読者に捧げた一般的な献辞である可能性があると書かれている。
However, it also notes that Theophilus was most likely a Roman acquaintance of Luke who had a strong interest in the new Christian religion. しかし、テオピロはルカのローマの知人で、キリスト教という新しい宗教に強い関心を持っていた可能性が高いとも書かれています。
In either case, it is an incredible historical account of Jesus’ interactions with His disciples after His resurrection and the work of the Holy Spirit in and through His disciples after Jesus’ ascension. いずれにせよ、それはdイエス様の復活後の弟子達との交流や、イエス様の昇天後の弟子達における、また弟子達を通しての聖霊の働きについての驚くべき歴史的記述です。
Luke thus goes into detail of how Jesus proved His resurrection to His disciples over a period of forty days. ルカはこのように、イエス様が４０日間にわたって弟子達にどのように復活を証明されたかを詳しく述べています。
Jesus spoke of the promise of the Holy Spirit being given to His disciples, and “not many days from now”. イエス様は、弟子達に聖霊が与えられるという約束について「今から多くの日が経たないうちに」と語られました。
We also see how Jesus gave specific instructions to His disciples concerning the timing of God’s work and the work given to them after they received the power of the Holy Spirit. また、イエス様が弟子達に、神の働きと聖霊の力を受けた後に与えられる働きの時期について、具体的な指示を与えたことも分かります。
Acts 1:6-8（使徒行伝１章６節－８節）
6 So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, “Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; 8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” 6さて、弟子たちが一緒に集まったとき、イエスに問うて言った、「主よ、イスラエルのために国を復興なさるのは、この時なのですか」。7彼らに言われた、「時期や場合は、父がご自分の権威によって定めておられるのであって、あなたがたの知る限りではない。8ただ、聖霊があなたがたにくだる時、あなたがたは力を受けて、エルサレム、ユダヤとサマリヤの全土、さらに地のはてまで、わたしの証人となるであろう」。
In His response to His disciples’ question of the timing of the restoring of the kingdom to Israel, Jesus basically told them, that was not what they should be concerned about. イスラエルに御国が回復される時期についての弟子達の質問に対して、イエス様は基本的に、弟子達が心配すべきはそのことではないと言われました。
Instead, they were to be prepared for the work that they would be empowered to do when they received the Holy Spirit. そうではなく、聖霊を受けた時に力を与えられるであろう、そのはたらきのために準備するのだと。
That work was to be Jesus’ witnesses, beginning in Jerusalem, and then spreading outward to the remotest part of the earth. そのはたらきとは、イエス様の証人となることであり、それはエルサレムから始まり、地の果てまで広がっていくことです。
Jesus reminded them to keep their focus on their calling and purpose, as He did, and leave the rest to God. イエス様は彼らに、ご自分もそうであったように、自分達の召命と目的に集中し、あとは神に委ねるようにと言われました。
Now that Jesus was done instructing His disciples and preparing them for the arrival of the Holy Spirit, He was ready to go back home. イエス様は弟子達への指導を終え、聖霊の到来の準備を整え、家に帰る準備をされました。
Acts 1:9-11（使徒行伝１章９節－１１節）
9 And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them. 11 They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.” 9こう言い終ると、イエスは彼らの見ている前で天に上げられ、雲に迎えられて、その姿が見えなくなった。10イエスの上って行かれるとき、彼らが天を見つめていると、見よ、白い衣を着たふたりの人が、彼らのそばに立っていて11言った、「ガリラヤの人たちよ、なぜ天を仰いで立っているのか。あなたがたを離れて天に上げられたこのイエスは、天に上って行かれるのをあなたがたが見たのと同じ有様で、またおいでになるであろう」。
We see the details of Jesus’ ascension described here. イエス様の昇天の詳細がここには記されています。
It says, “He was lifted up”. It wasn’t like He flew or He blasted off. 「彼は引き上げられた」とここには記されています。彼は飛んだのでも、吹き飛ばされたのでもありません。
There is a gentle sense to His being lifted up into the clouds. In other words, it seems effortless. 雲の中に引き上げられたという穏やかな感覚がここにあります。 言い換えれば、それは楽なことのように思えます。
Jesus’ ascension was clearly visible to His disciples, who watched Him until a cloud received Him out of their sight. イエス様の昇天は弟子達にもはっきりと見え、弟子達は雲がイエス様の姿を見えなくなるまでイエス様の姿を見守っていました。
Two angels described here as “two men in white clothing,” suddenly appeared next to the disciples as they were straining to watch Jesus ascend into heaven. ここで「白い衣を着た二人の人」と表現されている二人の天使は、イエス様が天に昇るのを見ようと緊張していた弟子たちの隣に突然現れました。
As God’s messengers sent by God, the two angels had a special twofold message for these disciples. 神様から遣わされた神様の使者としてこの二人の天使はこの弟子達に特別な二重のメッセージを持っていました。
First, the angels reminded them that Jesus had indeed ascended back to heaven. まず、天使達はイエス様が天に昇られたことを告げました。
Jesus had gone home, and thus they will not see Him anymore no matter how intently they looked into the sky. イエス様は家に帰られたのだから、どんなに熱心に空を見つめても、もうイエス様を見ることはできない。
Secondly, the angels reminded them that Jesus will fulfill His promise to come back again. 第二に天使達は、イエス様が再び戻って来られるという約束を果たされることを彼らに思い出させました。
There is also some detail concerning Jesus’ return that is shared by the angels here. また、イエス様の再臨に関する詳細が、ここで天使達によって語られています。
The angels make it clear that Jesus will return by coming down from heaven. 天使達はイエス様が天から下って来られることを明らかにしています。
Unlike beginning His ministry here on this earth through a virgin birth in His first coming, Jesus will come in glory from heaven when He comes again. 処女懐胎によってこの地上でのミニストリーを始められた初降臨とは異なり、イエス様が再び来られる時は、天から栄光を帯びて来られるのです。
This truth must have greatly comforted Jesus’ disciples who may have been unsure of what awaited them in the immediate future. この真理は、当面の将来に何が待血受けているのか分からずにいたであろうイエス様の弟子達を大いに慰めたに違いありません。
They knew they will soon be receiving the Holy Spirit and will thus be empowered to be Jesus’ witnesses. 彼らは間もなく聖霊を受け、イエス様の証人となる力を与えられることを知っていました。
They also knew that now Jesus was no longer with them physically. 彼らはまた、今やイエス様が肉体的には、もはや彼らと共におられないことも知っていました。
They knew that suffering and persecutions awaited them and that not many people at the moment were sympathetic to their cause. 苦しみと迫害が待ち受けていることも、知っていたし、今現在、自分たちの大義に同情的な人は多くないことも知っていました。
However, they knew that Jesus died for their sins according to the Scriptures, He was buried, and He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). しかし彼らは、聖書に従ってイエス様が自分達の罪のために死なれ、葬られ、聖書に従って三日目によみがえられたことを知っていました（1コリント１５章３節−４節）。
And now, they knew that Jesus would return once again according to the Scriptures. そして今、彼らは聖書に従ってイエス様が再び戻って来られることを知っていました。
They had faith in what Jesus had already accomplished and they had hope in what has been promised to them concerning Jesus’ future return. 彼らは、イエス様がすでに成し遂げてくださったことを信じ、イエス様の将来の再臨に関して約束されていることに希望を持っていました。
Luke records for us that not many days after this, Jesus’ disciples received the Holy Spirit, and indeed went on to be Jesus’ witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. ルカはこの後何日も経たないうちにイエス様の弟子達が聖霊を受け、エルサレム、ユダヤ、サマリヤ、そして地の果てまでイエス様の証人となったことを記録しています。
Some of you may ask: So, what is Jesus doing now? では、イエス様は今、何をしているのでしょうか？
No, He is not taking a long vacation. He is not just chilling out in Heaven. いいえ、彼は長い休暇を取っているのではありません。天国でくつろいでいるのでもありません。
In fact, though Jesus’ work here on earth was completed, He is now at work in Heaven. 実際、イエス様の地上での働きは終わりましたが、今は天国ではたらいておられます。
While Jesus was on earth and in the midst of His public ministry, He was asked of why He healed a person on the Sabbath. Jesus answered: イエス様が地上におられ、公の務めの最中に、なぜ安息日に人を癒したのかと尋ねられました。イエス様は答えられました：
John 5:17（ヨハネ５章１７節）
“My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working.”「わたしの父は今に至るまで働いておられる。わたしも働くのである」。
His point was that God never slumbers nor sleeps (Psalm 121:4). 彼が言いたかったのは、神は決してまどろむことも眠ることもないということです（詩篇１２１篇４節）。
God, the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit, are continually at work. 父なる神、子なるイエス、聖霊は絶えずはたらいています。
So, we know what Jesus has done while He was on this earth, and we know that He is going to come back again, but what is He doing now in Heaven? ですから私達はイエス様がこの地上にいる間に何をされたかを知っていますし、また戻って来られることも知っていますが、今、天にて何をしているのでしょうか。
To answer that question, let’s look at the significance of Jesus’ ascension. その疑問に答えるために、イエス様の昇天の意味を見てみましょう。
Jesus’ ascension fulfills His claim that He would go to the Father. イエス様の昇天は、御父のもとに行かれるというイエス様の主張を成就するものです。
Here is what Jesus said to His disciples before His crucifixion. イエス様が十字架につけられる前に弟子達に言われた言葉があります。
John 14:28（ヨハネ１４章２８節）
“You heard that I said to you, ‘I go away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced because I go to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.” 「『わたしは去って行くが、またあなたがたのところに帰って来る』と、わたしが言ったのを、あなたがたは聞いている。もしわたしを愛しているなら、わたしが父のもとに行くのを喜んでくれるであろう。父がわたしより大きいかたであるからである」。
Jesus’ ascension means that He is preparing a place for us in Heaven. イエス様の昇天は、イエス様が私達のために天国に場所を用意してくださることを意味します。
Again, here is what Jesus said to His disciples before His crucifixion. 再び、イエス様が十字架につけられる前に弟子達に言われた言葉がこれです。
John 14:2（ヨハネ１４章２節）
“In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.”「わたしの父の家には、すまいがたくさんある。もしなかったならば、わたしはそう言っておいたであろう。あなたがたのために、場所を用意しに行くのだから」。
Thus, we see that Jesus went back to Heaven to be with His Father, and there He is preparing a place for us in the Father’s house. このように、イエス様は御父と共にいるために天に帰られ、そこで御父の家に私達のための場所を備えていてくださることがわかります。
Jesus’ ascension also means that He is now seated at the right hand of the Father. イエス様の昇天はまた、イエス様が今、御父の右に座しておられることを意味します。
This is also one of the key statements we profess as part of the Apostles’ Creed, and it is a result of His ascension. これは使徒信条の一部として私達が公言している重要な文言の一つでもあり、イエス様の昇天の結果なのです。
Acts 2:22-25（使徒行伝２章２２節－２５節）
22 “Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know— 23 this Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death. 24 But God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power. 25 For David says of Him, ‘I saw the Lord always in my presence; for He is at my right hand, so that I will not be shaken.’” 22イスラエルの人たちよ、今わたしの語ることを聞きなさい。あなたがたがよく知っているとおり、ナザレ人イエスは、神が彼をとおして、あなたがたの中で行われた数々の力あるわざと奇跡としるしとにより、神からつかわされた者であることを、あなたがたに示されたかたであった。23このイエスが渡されたのは神の定めた計画と予知とによるのであるが、あなたがたは彼を不法の人々の手で十字架につけて殺した。24神はこのイエスを死の苦しみから解き放って、よみがえらせたのである。イエスが死に支配されているはずはなかったからである。25ダビデはイエスについてこう言っている、『わたしは常に目の前に主を見た。主は、わたしが動かされないため、わたしの右にいて下さるからである』。
This was the apostle Peter’s message to the crowd gathered in Jerusalem who had witnessed the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon himself and Jesus’ disciples on the day of Pentecost. これは、ペンテコステの日に、自分自身とイエス様の弟子達に聖霊が注がれたのを目撃した使徒ペテロが、エルサレムに集まった群衆に語ったメッセージであります。
It is from Jesus’ exalted position of being at the right hand of God that we have the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, which again Peter explained in the same message. 聖霊の注ぎがあるのは、神の右におられるというイエスの高貴な立場からであり、ペテロは同じメッセージの中で再びこう説明しています。
Acts 2:32-33（使徒行伝２章３２節－３３節）
32 “This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are all witnesses. 33 Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear.” 2:32このイエスを、神はよみがえらせた。そして、わたしたちは皆その証人なのである。 2:33それで、イエスは神の右に上げられ、父から約束の聖霊を受けて、それをわたしたちに注がれたのである。このことは、あなたがたが現に見聞きしているとおりである。
Jesus’ ascension also began His high priestly ministry of interceding for us. イエス様の昇天はまた、私達のために執り成す大祭司の務めを開始しました。
Hebrews 7:23-27（へブル書７章２３節－２７節）
23 The former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers because they were prevented by death from continuing, 24 but Jesus, on the other hand, because He continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently. 25 Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. 26 For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens; 27 who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. 23かつ、死ということがあるために、務を続けることができないので、多くの人々が祭司に立てられるのである。24しかし彼は、永遠にいますかたであるので、変らない祭司の務を持ちつづけておられるのである。25そこでまた、彼は、いつも生きていて彼らのためにとりなしておられるので、彼によって神に来る人々を、いつも救うことができるのである。26このように、聖にして、悪も汚れもなく、罪人とは区別され、かつ、もろもろの天よりも高くされている大祭司こそ、わたしたちにとってふさわしいかたである。27彼は、ほかの大祭司のように、まず自分の罪のため、次に民の罪のために、日々、いけにえをささげる必要はない。なぜなら、自分をささげて、一度だけ、それをされたからである。
Jesus is nothing like the former high priests who served in the tabernacle or in the temple in Jerusalem. イエス様は、幕屋やエルサレムの神殿で仕えていたかつての大祭司たちとは違います。
He was the perfect sacrifice for our sins, and He is the perfect Savior and Priest who makes intercession for us. イエス様は私達の罪のための完全ないけにえであり、私達のために執り成しをなさる完全な救い主であり祭司です。
The apostle Paul also reminded the believers in Rome of this truth. 使徒パウロもまた、ローマの信徒たちにこの真理を思い出させました。
Romans 8:33-34（ローマ書８章３３節－３４節）
33 Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; 34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. 33だれが、神の選ばれた者たちを訴えるのか。神は彼らを義とされるのである。34だれが、わたしたちを罪に定めるのか。キリスト・イエスは、死んで、否、よみがえって、神の右に座し、また、わたしたちのためにとりなして下さるのである。
What a comfort to know that Jesus is continually making intercession for us in His current high priestly position in Heaven, seated at the right hand of God. イエス様が、神の右に座しておられる天国の大祭司の立場で、絶えず私達のために執り成しをしてくださっていることを知ることは、なんという慰めでしょうか。
Jesus’ interceding for us means that we do not have to worry about the accusations made against us by Satan or anyone else. イエス様が私達のために執り成してくださるということは、私達がサタンや他の誰からも非難されることを心配する必要がないということです。
Jesus is our high priest but is also like a defense attorney who not only defends us, but ultimately paid the price for our forgiveness and pardon through offering up His life, so that we can be declared “righteous” before God.イエス様は私達の大祭司であると同時に、弁護人のようでもあり、私達を弁護するだけでなく、最終的には神の御前で私たちが「義」と宣言されるために、ご自分の命を捧げることによって、私達の赦しの代価を支払ってくださったのです。
Yes, we declare concerning Jesus Christ: He ascended into heaven, He is seated at the right hand of the Father. そう、私達はイエス・キリストについて宣言します：

Jesus being seated at the right hand of the Father means that He is in a position of authority, “far above all rule and authority and power and dominion” (Ephesians 1:21). イエス様が御父の右に座しておられるということは「すべての支配、権威、権力、権勢の上に」（エペソ１章２１節）ある立場におられるということです。
It also shows how close Jesus is to God the Father, for in reality they are inseparable, working in complete agreement with one another and with the Holy Spirit.それはまた、イエス様が父なる神とどれほど親密であるかを示しており、現実的には二人は切り離すことができず、互いに、また聖霊と完全に一致してはたらいているのです。
Jesus’ ascension back to Heaven and thus being seated at the right hand of the Father reminds us to continually keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and to look to Him in Heaven. イエス様が天に昇り、御父の右の座に着かれたことは、私達が絶えずイエス様に目を留め、天におられるイエス様を仰ぎ見ることを思い起こさせます。
Colossians 3:1-3（コロサイ書３章１節－３節）
1 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. 3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 1このように、あなたがたはキリストと共によみがえらされたのだから、上にあるものを求めなさい。そこではキリストが神の右に座しておられるのである。 2あなたがたは上にあるものを思うべきであって、地上のものに心を引かれてはならない。3あなたがたはすでに死んだものであって、あなたがたのいのちは、キリストと共に神のうちに隠されているのである。
Hebrews 12:1-2（へブル書１２章１節－２節）
1 Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 1こういうわけで、わたしたちは、このような多くの証人に雲のように囲まれているのであるから、いっさいの重荷と、からみつく罪とをかなぐり捨てて、わたしたちの参加すべき競走を、耐え忍んで走りぬこうではないか。2信仰の導き手であり、またその完成者であるイエスを仰ぎ見つつ、走ろうではないか。彼は、自分の前におかれている喜びのゆえに、恥をもいとわないで十字架を忍び、神の御座の右に座するに至ったのである。
Although Jesus is no longer physically present with us on this earth, through His ascension back to Heaven, we are assured of the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives, and we are blessed to be able to pray to the Heavenly Father in Jesus’ name.イエス様は、もはや肉体的にはこの地上に私達と共におられませんが、天に昇られたことによって、私達の人生における聖霊の働きが保証され、イエス様の御名によって天の御父に祈ることができるようになり、私達は祝福されているのです。
And we are greatly comforted by the fact that Jesus as our great high priest in heaven understands our weaknesses, and provides us His mercy and grace in our times of need. そして、天におられる偉大な大祭司であるイエス様が、私達の弱さを理解してくださり、必要な時に憐れみと恵みを与えてくださるという事実に、私達は大いに慰められるのです。
Hebrews 4:14-16（へブル書４章１４節－１６節）
14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. 16 Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. 14さて、わたしたちには、もろもろの天をとおって行かれた大祭司なる神の子イエスがいますのであるから、わたしたちの告白する信仰をかたく守ろうではないか。15この大祭司は、わたしたちの弱さを思いやることのできないようなかたではない。罪は犯されなかったが、すべてのことについて、わたしたちと同じように試錬に会われたのである。16だから、わたしたちは、あわれみを受け、また、恵みにあずかって時機を得た助けを受けるために、はばかることなく恵みの御座に近づこうではないか。
Therefore, let us be grounded in the calling and purpose that each one of us has in living our lives in the power of the Holy Spirit while on this earth, ですから、私達一人ひとりがこの地上にいる間、聖霊の力によって自分の人生を生きるという召命と目的にしっかりと立ち、
and at the same time keep our eyes lifted up to Heaven where Jesus is seated at the right hand of God the Father.同時に、イエス様が父なる神の右に座しておられる天に向かって目を上げていましょう。
And when we are done with our work here on earth, having completed what God has purposed for us to do, then we too can go home to the place that Jesus has prepared for us in Heaven where we will live with God forever. そして、私達がこの地上でのはたらきを終え、神が私達のために意図されたことをやり遂げた時、私達もまた、イエス様が私達のために用意してくださった天国の、神と永遠に共に住む場所に帰ることができるのです。

１）使徒行伝１章１節—１１節を読みましょう。イエス様が復活されてから昇天されるまでの４０日間、弟子たちにどのようなことを話されましたか？イエス様は弟子たちに、聖霊を受けたら何をすると具体的に言われましたか？イエス様が天に昇られたことについて、どのようなことが目につきますか？
２）ヨハネ１４章１節—３１節を読みましょう。この聖書箇所から、イエス様が、ご自分の死と復活だけでなく、昇天についても、弟子たちを準備しておられたことがわかります。イエス様は、なぜ天に帰ることが必要だと言われたのでしょうか？イエス様は、ご自分がいない間、弟子たちの「助け手」となるために何を与えると約束されましたか？このことにより、イエス様が弟子たち（現代の私たちも含む）をどれほど愛し、気にかけておられるかについて教えられますか？
３）使徒行伝２章１４節—３６節とエペソ１章１８節—２３節とコロサイ３章１節—３節を読みましょう。イエス様が神の右に座しておられるとはどう言うことでしょうか？このことは、私たちにとってどのような意味がありますか？
