羊の日々は牧者と共にあるものです。それは牧者と共に歩む日々です。私達は牧者なるイエス様の後をついていく羊です。イエス様が足を止めれば、私達も止めます。イエス様が歩き出せば、私達も歩き出します。
ノアがその時になしたことは、彼の牧者を追い越さずに、牧者がとどまっている限り、そこに彼もとどまったということです。ノアは牧者なる神が「それではそろそろ行こうか」と腰を上げた時を待ち続けていたのです。主にある皆さん、このことを私達は「神と共に歩む」と言うのです。
主を追い越して、自分の思うがままに、先を急ぐこと。主の後を歩むことを怠り、そのずっと後を歩くこと。これらは「主と共に歩くこと」ではないのです。「主と共に人生を歩む」、このシンプルな言葉の中に、人が得ることができる最高のもの、私達のクリスチャンライフの全てがあるのです。

ノア：主と共に人生を歩む

「人から学び、神と共に生きる」というシリーズで毎週の礼拝メッセージをお話ししています。“今日はノアという人についてお話しをします。ノアと言えば、「ノアの洪水」であり「ノアの箱舟」です。ノアがその船を作るに至った経緯を創世記６章はこう記しています。
創世記６章５節「主は人の悪が地にはびこり、すべてその心に思いはかることが、いつも悪い事ばかりであるのを見られた」。
創世記６章１１節－１２節「11時に世は神の前に乱れて、暴虐が地に満ちた。12神が地を見られると、それは乱れていた。すべての人が地の上でその道を乱したからである」。
その時、全ての人が、いつも悪いことばかりを考え、暴虐が地に満ちており、全ての人が地の上でその道を乱していたというのです。このことは、その時代がどんなに救いようのない暗黒であったかを明らかにしています。そして、その時代に生きたノアについて創世記はこう記しています。
創世記６章９節「ノアはその時代の人々の中で正しく、かつ全き人であった。ノアは神と共に歩んだ」。
全ての人が邪悪なことばかりを考え、悪が地に満ちていたという環境の中でノアはなぜ、神の前に正しく、全く、神と共に歩むことができたのでしょうか。聖書はその詳細を書いていませんが、ユダヤ人のタルムードの中にはこんな記録があるそうです。
ノアの祖父メトセラは、その父エノクの生き方に習い、神と共に生きた。エノクについては二週間前にお話しましたが、彼は神と共に人生をあゆみ、神様は彼を喜ばれました。ノアは幼い頃、エノクの息子、祖父メトセラと共に過ごすことにより、その感化を受けたというのです。世の中がどんなに乱れていても、もし家庭の中に一人、神を見上げ、神と共に生きる人がいるのなら、その人の影響はどんなに大きなことでしょうか。ある日、神様はノアに語りかけます。
創世記７章１節「あなたと家族とはみな箱舟にはいりなさい。あなたがこの時代の人々の中で、わたしの前に正しい人であるとわたしは認めたからである」
さらに神様はノアに言います。
創世記７章４節「七日の後、わたしは四十日四十夜、地に雨を降らせて、わたしの造ったすべての生き物を、地のおもてからぬぐい去ります」。
日本ではここ数年、過去になかったような豪雨があり、川が氾濫し、崖が崩れて、大きな被害が出ています。数時間の雨が一月分の雨量を上回るというようなニュースをよく聞きます。しかし、それらが記録的な雨であったとしても、さすがに２４時間、降り続けるというようなことはありません。ノアの時の雨は４０日４０夜、降り続けたというのですから、その雨量たるや相当なもので、全地は水で覆われました。
サンデイェゴ・ベイに行きますと大きなクルージング船が停泊していることがあります。あれでメキシコクルーズに行くのでしょう。きっと船の中には映画館あり、ダンスホールあり、エステあり、プールありと至れり尽くせりと想像します。きっとそれは日常とは違う、豪華で快適な船旅なのでしょう。しかし、想像してみてください。
ノアの場合は、その船がどこに向かっているのかも分からず、彼らはもてあそばれる木の葉のように水の上を漂い続けていたということを。ノアとその家族がいた環境では、動物たちの泣き声が船内から絶えることがありませんでした。そして、それに伴い、彼らの食事と排泄の世話にノア達は朝から晩まで、没頭したことでしょう。
人にはリラックスする時間とスペースが必要ですが、そこは密室で彼らの心身は相当にきつかったことでしょう。その過酷な環境によるストレスゆえに家族の間でも色々な問題が生じていたと想像することは難しくありません。
梅雨(Rainy Season)を経験したことのある人たちは、その過酷さを知っています。そのシーズン、数日の間に食パンに青いカビが生えます。洗濯ものは乾かず、何とも言えない異臭がただよいます。
止まることなく４０日の間、降り続ける豪雨、雨が止んでも、見渡す限りの水の世界、そんな光景を見続けた彼らが心に思うことは何だったのでしょうか。言うまでもありません。それは「雨よ、早く止んでくれ」であり、「一日も早く、ここから出してくれ！」ということだったことでしょう。
私達もこのような状況に置かれることがないでしょうか。息が詰まるような閉塞感。とにかく朝から晩まですべき事があり、息つく暇もない。ほっとする場所がない。そこにいる者達の関係がギスギスしてしまうような状況。
そんな時にノアは何をしたのでしょうか。創世記８章によりますと、ノアは箱舟の外の状況を注意深く観察し、日づけと共にその状況を記録していたようです。そして、毎日のルーティンをこつこつと続けたのです。
この過酷な環境の中にあるノアの姿から私達は知恵を得ます。ノアが置かれていた状況というのは肉体的に精神的に、限界に近いような状態だったと思われます。彼は家族のリーダーとして家族の心にも向き合い、彼らを励まし、その心を一つにしなければならないということを経験したでしょう。
時に己の願望を封印して、家族を支えなければならないということもあったでしょう。そのようなことを思えば、ノアこそがこの状況の中、心が折れてしまってもおかしくない状況です。しかし、彼は日々、なすべきことを続けたのです。
心身共にしんどい状況になりますと私達は地道なことを丁寧にし続けることが億劫になり、それは雑となります。しかし、彼はその試みの期間にあっても日々、自分がなすべきことを毎日、コツコツと続けました。ヘブル人への手紙の記者はノアについて、こう評価しています。
ヘブル１１章７節 「信仰によって、ノアはまだ見ていない事がらについて御告げを受け、恐れかしこみつつ、その家族を救うために箱舟を造り、その信仰によって世の罪をさばき、そして、信仰による義を受け継ぐ者となった」
ノアの前には降りしきる雨。雨が降りやめば、どこまでも続く水の世界。しかし、彼の脳裏にはその先にある光景があったのでしょう。彼はまだ見ていない光景を、信仰をもって受け止めたのです。このヘブル人への手紙は私達に語りかけます。
ヘブル１０章３５節−３６節 35だから、あなたがたは自分の持っている確信を放棄してはいけない。その確信には大きな報いが伴っているのである。36神の御旨を行って約束のものを受けるため、あなたがたに必要なのは、忍耐である。
４０日４０夜、降り続けた雨が止んでから１５０日経って、地上から水が減り始めたと創世記は記しています。この時点で雨が降り始めてから１９０日が経っています。そしてさらに数ヶ月経ち、山の頂きが見えてくるようになりました。
そんなある日、ノアが２度目に放った鳩がオリブの若葉をくわえて帰ってきたと創世記は記しています（創世記８章１１節）。それを見てノアは地から水がひいたのを知りました。それから、さらに七日待ってまた、鳩を放ったところ、もはや彼のもとには帰って来ませんでした（創世記８章１２節）。それは鳩が身を置き、暮らすことができる土地があったということを示していました。
そのことは、すなわち彼とその家族も、いよいよ待ち望んだ箱舟の戸を開けることができる時が来たことを意味しました。寝ても覚めても待ち望んだ日がいよいよ、すぐ目の前にやって来たのです。そして、その時からさらに一月後の１月１日、いよいよ地の上の水は枯れ、土のおもてはかわいていることをノアは知るのです（創世記８章１３節）。さぁ、今すぐここから出て、大地の感触を味わおうと私達なら当然、思うはず。草木に触れよう！土を握りしめよう！外の空気を思い切り吸おう！
しかし、ノアはまだ箱舟から出ることをしませんでした。彼とその家族が箱舟から出たのは、それからさらに二ヶ月後の２月２７日だったと創世記は記しています。
米国の西海岸から日本行きの飛行機に乗りますと、東京に到着するまで１１時間ぐらいかかります。その時間を私はいつもとてつもなく長く感じています。残り３時間ぐらいになりますと、私はモニターに映る、飛行機の現在地の地図を睨み、「もっと早く飛べ」と念じます（私は愚か者です）。その３時間の長いこと、今か、今かと時計を１５分ごとに見ます。
悪臭と動物たちの鳴き声で満ちた、薄暗い船から、飛び出して、大地に足を置きたい。そのノアと彼の家族の願望は限界に近いことだったでしょう。ノアがいよいよゴールは近いという時、彼は残りの３時間を待ったのではありません。結局、彼らはそれから二ヶ月、箱舟の中にとどまったのです。そして、大地が全く乾いているということを確認した、その日に神様はノアに語りかけます。
創世記８章１６節「あなたは妻と、子らと、子らの妻たちと共に箱舟を出なさい・・・・」。
この言葉に従い、ノアとその家族をはじめ、「すべての獣、すべての這うもの、すべての鳥、すべて地の上に動くものは皆、種類にしたがって箱舟を出た」（創世記８章１９節）というのです。
皆さん、私たちの人生の選択と決断はどのようになされるのでしょうか。多くの場合、自分の念入りな観察と調査と勤勉さが裏打ちされて、私たちは一歩を踏み出します。ノアもこの観察と調査と日々の働きを怠りませんでした。
私達は彼がそうするのは、彼がいつ船から出るのかを決めるためだと思います。しかし、ノアはそれらの地道なデーターを参考にしつつも、神様の言葉をひたすら待っていたのです。
目の前にある、日々のルーティンをこつこと忠実に成し遂げ、後は全てを神に委ね、神様のゴーサインをノアは待っていたのです。思い起こせばこの大地に雨が降り始めて、ノアとその家族、また全ての動物が箱舟に入った後、神様は彼らのためにあることをしました。
創世記７章１６節『そこで主は彼のうしろの戸を閉ざされた』。
これからこの箱舟は大水の上に浮かび、大水にもまれます。その状況で彼らの生死を決めるのは、箱舟の中に水が侵入しないことです。その肝心要の外界と箱舟の中を隔てる扉を神様自らが閉めたのです。主が閉めてくださった扉から水が船内に侵入することはなかったことでしょう。そして、主がその初めに戸を閉じられた以上、主がその戸を再び開くのでなければ、自分でそれを開けるべきではないとノアは思ったのでしょう。
この度、エノクとノアについてメッセージを備えている中で、教えられたことがあります。それはノアの先祖エノクとノアについて聖書が言っていることが同じだということです。
創世記３章２２節『エノクはメトセラを生んだ後、三百年、神と共に歩み、男子と女子を生んだ。エノクの年は合わせて３６５歳であった』
創世記６章９節『ノアはその時代の人々の中で正しく、かつ全き人であった。ノアは神と共に歩んだ』
「エノクは神と共に歩んだ」と聖書は記しており、また聖書は「ノアも神と共に歩んだ」とも記しているのです。私達がクリスチャンとして生きるということ、それはどういうことなのか、そのことを説明する言葉はたくさんあると思います。しかし、それは複雑なものではなく、それはシンプルに「私達が神と共に人生を歩む」ということです。
私に関して言えば、現在、私は妻と子供たちと人生を歩んでいます。「ああ、私は今日も彼らと人生を歩んでいるんだ。今日も気を抜かないように彼らと人生を歩むぞ」と私は毎日、気張っていません。
私は今日も生かされており、そして、今日も彼らと普通に人生を歩んでいます。.それは私の日常であり、気張ることではありません。彼らと共に起き、食べ、働き、笑い、頭を抱え、眠る・・・。それは極めてシンプルなことです。
主と共に歩むことも複雑なことではありません。そう、私達は今日も主と日々を歩んでいる。それ以上でもなく、それ以下でもありません。私が妻や子供達と日々を過ごし、彼らと共に人生を歩んでいるからには、彼らの気持ちを無視することはできません。神と共に人生を歩むということも、私達が神様のお気持ち、そのお心を無視しては、神様と共に歩むということは成り立たないのです。
聖書はその神は私達の主なのだと言います。「主は私達の牧者である」と詩篇２３篇は私達に語りかけます。私達は羊であり、主は私達の牧者です。主は私達を緑の牧場、憩の水際に伴われると、そこには書かれています。私達は自分でどこかにある緑の牧場や水際のことを思い、入念にそこに到るまでの計画をたてます。しかし、私達が考える、その場所に本当に緑の牧場があるのか、憩いの水際があるのか、その保証はありません。そこに行ってみたらまだ草は生えていなかった、水は枯れていたというようなことがあるのです。しかし、主なる牧者はそれらを知り尽くしており、その牧者は私達の先頭に立つのです。
ノアはカラスやハトを何度か、外界の調査のために送り出しました。そして、二度目に送りだした鳩は最後にオリブの若葉をくわえて帰ってきました。その一枚のオリブの若葉の緑はノアと家族にとってどんなに大きな喜びであり、希望となったことでしょうか。それは、彼が勤勉に調査したからこそ得られた、試みの中の光であったことでしょう。
ノアはこのオリブの若葉から未だ見ない草木が生え始めた大地を想像したことでしょう。自分がまだ見ぬ地、そこで既にはたらかれている神様のみわざにノアは思いを寄せたのです。自分の力の及ばない未来において既に、事を始めているお方と共に生きるという喜びを彼は望み見ていたに違いありません。私達が主と共に歩く時、神様はそのような希望を私達の試みの中にも見せてくれます。
羊の日々は牧者と共にあるものです。それは牧者と共に歩む日々です。私達は牧者なるイエス様の後をついていく羊です。イエス様が足を止めれば、私達も止めます。イエス様が歩き出せば、私達も歩き出します。

この言葉に従い、ノアと彼の家族は箱舟から出ました。ノアの行動を最終的に決定したのは、自分の入念な観察結果ではなく、神様のみ言葉だったのです。イエス・キリストは言われました。
ヨハネ１０章４節「羊はその声を知っているので、彼について行くのである」。
私達が神の言葉を聞き分け、それに従う時に、その歩みは堅固なものとなるでしょう。「善悪を決めるのは、全てあなたの判断です。ご自由にどうぞ！」そんな時代に今、私たちは生きています。残念なことに、この判断に生きるのなら、私達は益々、混乱し、争いは増え続けることでしょう。
あなたはあなたに「ノー」と言ってくれる存在を必要としていませんか。あなたはあなたに「オーケー」と言ってくださる存在を必要としていませんか。でも、そんなこと、誰が言ってくれるのか？そこまで信頼できる人がこの世界にいるのか。
私たちの人生の始めの扉を開いたのは父なる神です。ですから、このお方がその最後に私たちの人生の扉を閉じてくださることでしょう。人は神様から命の息を吹きかけられて生きる者となりました。そうでありますから、私達の最後の息を引き取られるお方も神様です。この神様に自分の歩みを委ねることができることはなんとさいわいなことでしょう。
私達は過去に戻ることはできません。しかし、今日から先のことについては、話は別です。主にある皆さん、主と共に人生を歩んでいきませんか。かつては主と共に歩んでいた。しかし、今はそうではない。昔の話だ。もしそんな方がいましたら、今日から再び、主と共に、神が私達に与えてくださっている人生を歩みましょう。
ノアのように、主と共に家族の先頭に立ちませんか。そのあなたの前には牧者なる主イエス・キリストがいます。私は今、複雑で難しいことを言っているのではありません。ただ「主と共に人生を歩みましょう」と言っているのです。
私達の人生の全権を主に握っていただき、その主と共にこの旅路を歩き続けようではありませんか。このシンプルな勧めの中に、私達が得ることができる最高のものがあります。そして、私達のクリスチャンライフの全てが、そこにはあるのです。

Noah: Walking Through Life with the Lord

“Learning from Others, How to Live with God” is the message series that we speaking on in our weekly worship services. Today we will talk about a man named Noah. Noah, as in “Noah’s Flood” and “Noah’s Ark”. Genesis 6 describes how Noah came to build that ark.
Genesis 6:5 The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.
Genesis 6:11-12. 11 Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways.
It says that at that time, every inclination of the thoughts of all people were only evil all the time, the earth was full of violence, and all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. This reveals how irredeemably dark that time period was. And of Noah, who lived during that time period, Genesis says:
Genesis 6:9 Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God.
How could Noah be righteous before God, blameless, and walk faithfully with God, in the midst of an environment where all the people thought only evil and evil filled the earth? The Bible does not give the details, but there is this record in the Jewish Talmud.
Noah’s grandfather Methuselah lived faithfully with God, following the way of his father Enoch. As I mentioned about Enoch two weeks ago, he lived walking faithfully with God and God was pleased with him. Noah was inspired as a child by spending time with Enoch’s son, his grandfather Methuselah. No matter how turbulent the world is, if there is one person in the family who looks up to God and lives with Him, how great is their impact. One day, God spoke to Noah.
Genesis 7:1 “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation.”
Furthermore, God says to Noah.
Genesis 7:4. “Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.”
In Japan, the last few years have seen torrential rains like never before, causing rivers to overflow, hill sides to collapse, and great damage. We often hear in the news that a few hours of rain can exceed a month’s worth of rainfall. However, even if they are record-breaking rains, it is not as if they continue to fall for 24 hours straight. The rain at the time of Noah was said to have continued for 40 days and 40 nights, so the amount of rainfall was considerable, and the entire earth was covered with water.
If you go to San Diego Bay, you may see a large cruise ship docked there. They are probably going on a cruise to Mexico. I imagine that the ship will have a movie theater, dance hall, beauty salon, swimming pool, and so on. It must be a luxurious and comfortable boat trip that is different from everyday life.
That in Noah’s case, they didn’t even know where the boat was headed, and they were drifting on the water like a tree leaf. In the environment Noah and his family were in, the cries of the animals never ceased from the boat. And with that, Noah and his family would have been immersed from morning to night in taking care of their food and excrement.
People need time and space to relax, but it must have been very hard on their bodies and minds in the closed space. It is not difficult to imagine that the stress of this harsh environment caused many problems within the family.
Those who have experienced the Rainy Season know how harsh it can be. During that season, mold grows on the bread within a few days. Laundry does not dry and there is an indescribable strange odor.
Torrential rains that continued for 40 days without stopping, and even after the rains stopped, a world of water as far as the eyes could see. What was on their minds as they continued to see these things? It goes without saying. It would have been, “Rain, please stop soon,” and “Get me out of here as soon as possible!”
Are we not placed in this kind of situation as well? A stifling sense of entrapment. Anyway, there are things to do from morning to night, and there is no time to catch one’s breath. There is no place to be relieved. A situation where the relationships between those there would be strained.
What did Noah do at such a time? According to Genesis 8, Noah carefully observed the conditions outside the ark and recorded them along with the date. And he continued on with his daily routine.
We gain wisdom from seeing Noah in this harsh environment. Noah’s situation was probably close to his physical and mental limits. He would have experienced that as a family leader he must also deal with the hearts of his family members, encourage them and unite their hearts.
At times, he would have had to shut down his own desires and support his family. With that in mind, Noah is the one whose heart could be broken under the circumstances. But he continued to do what needed to be done, day after day.
When we are in a difficult situation, both mentally and physically, it becomes troublesome for us to continue to do the steady and careful things, and it becomes a chore. But even during that trying period, Noah continued to do what he had to do, day in and day out. The writer to the Hebrews gives this assessment of Noah.
Hebrews 11:7. By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.
The rain is pouring down before Noah. When the rain stops falling, the world of water continues forever. But in his mind he must have had a vision of what lay ahead. He took in faith a sight he had not yet seen. This letter to the Hebrews speaks to us.
Hebrews 10:35-36. 35 So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. 36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
One hundred and fifty days after the rain stopped falling for forty days and forty nights, Genesis tells us that the waters began to recede from the earth. At this point, it has been 190 days since the rain began. After a few more months, the top of the mountains came into view.
Then one day, Genesis tells us, the dove that Noah released a second time came back with a freshly plucked olive leaf (Gen. 8:11). When Noah saw this, he knew that the waters had receded from the earth. Then, after waiting another seven days, he released the dove again, and it no longer returned to him (Genesis 8:12). It showed that there was a land where the doves could settle and live.
This meant, in other words, that the long-awaited time had finally come for him and his family to be able to open the door of the ark. The day that they had been waiting for day after day finally arrived right before them. And another month after that time, on the first day of the first month, Noah finally learned that the waters above the earth had dried up and the ground was dry (Genesis 8:13). We would naturally think, now, let’s get out of here and feel the earth. Let’s touch the plants and trees! Let’s clutch the soil! Breathe in the fresh air! However, Noah still did not leave the ark. Genesis tells us that Noah and his family left the ark two more months later, on the twenty-seventh day of the second month.
If you take a flight from the West Coast of the United States to Japan, it takes about 11 hours to arrive in Tokyo. I always feel that time is tremendously long. With about three hours to go, I stare at the map of the plane’s current location on the monitor and wish it would fly faster (I am a fool). That three hours is a long time, and I look at my watch every 15 minutes to see if it is now or not.
I want to jump out of the dingy boat, filled with stench and the cries of animals, and place my feet on the earth. The desires of Noah and his family would have been near their limit. When Noah finally realized that the finish line was near, he did not wait for the remaining three hours. In the end, they remained in the ark for the next two months. And God speaks to Noah on the very day that he confirms that the earth is completely dry.
Genesis 8:16. “Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives.”
It says that according to these words, starting with Noah and his family, “All the animals and all the creatures that move along the ground and all the birds—everything that moves on land—came out of the ark, one kind after another” (Genesis 8:19).
Dear People, how are our life choices and decisions made? Often, backed by our own careful observation, investigation and diligence, we take the first step. Noah did not neglect this observation, investigation and daily work.
We think he does so in order to be able to decide when to get off the boat. However, Noah while referring to that steady data, still waited patiently for God’s word.
Noah faithfully accomplished the daily routine in front of him, left everything else to God, and waited for God’s go sign. If we recall, after the rains began to fall on the earth, and Noah and his family, as well as all the animals, entered the ark, God did something for them.
Genesis 7:16. Then the Lord shut him in.
Here on, the ark will float on and be swept away by the mighty waters. What will determine whether they live or die in this situation is that no water will enter the ark. God Himself closed the crucial element of the ark, the door separating the ark from the outside world. Water would not have entered the boat through the door that the Lord closed. And since the Lord had closed the door at the beginning, Noah probably felt that he should not open it himself unless the Lord would open it again.
In the course of preparing a message about Enoch and Noah, I have been taught something. It is that the Bible says the same thing about Noah’s ancestor Enoch and Noah.
Genesis 3:22. After he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked faithfully with God 300 years and had other sons and daughters.
Genesis 6:9. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God.
The Bible says, “Enoch walked faithfully with God,” and the Bible also says, “Noah walked faithfully with God.” There are many words to describe how we are to live as Christians and what it means. However, it is not complicated, it is simply “we walk through life with God”.
Speaking regarding myself, I currently live my life with my wife and children. I don’t get uptight every day thinking, “Oh, I’m going through life with them today. I’m not going to let my guard down as I walk through life with them today.”
I am given life today, and I am living a normal life with them today. It is my daily routine and I am not uptight about it. Together with them, I wake up, eat, work, laugh, ponder things, and sleep . . . . It is quite simple.
Walking with the Lord is not complicated either. Yes, we walk daily with the Lord even today. Nothing more, nothing less. Because I spend my days with my wife and children and live my life with them, I cannot ignore their feelings. Walking through life with God is also not possible if we ignore God’s feelings and His will for us.
The Bible says that God is our Lord. Psalm 23 tells us, “The Lord is our Shepherd”. We are sheep and the Lord is our Shepherd.
It is written there that the Lord makes us lie down in green pastures, and leads us beside quiet waters. We think on our own of a green pasture or waters, and carefully plan how to get there. However, there is no guarantee that there is really a green pasture or quiet waters in that location, as we think. When we get there, we find that the grass had not yet grown, and the water has dried up. However, the Lord who is our Shepherd knows them all, and He will lead us.
Noah sent out ravens and doves several times to investigate the outside world. And the second time he sent out the dove, it came back with a freshly plucked olive leaf in its beak. How great was the joy and hope of Noah and his family in the green of that single freshly plucked olive leaf! It would have been a light in the midst of the trial, obtained only because of his diligent research.
Noah must have imagined the earth beginning to grow grass and trees that he had not yet seen from the freshly plucked olive leaf. Noah thought about God’s work that was already being done there, in a land he had not yet seen. He must have longed for the joy of living with the One who had already begun things in the future that were beyond his control. As we walk with the Lord, God shows us such hope in our trials.
The days of the sheep are with the Shepherd. It is the days of the sheep that walk with the Shepherd. We are sheep following Jesus the Shepherd. When Jesus stops, we stop. When Jesus walks out, we walk out.
What Noah did then is that he did not go ahead of his Shepherd, but as long as the Shepherd remained, there he remained also. Noah kept waiting for the time when God the Shepherd would sit up and say, “Well then, it’s time to go.” People in the Lord, this is what we call “walking faithfully with God”.
To rush ahead, to go ahead of the Lord, to do as one pleases. Failing to walk after the Lord and walking far behind Him. These are not “walking faithfully with the Lord”. In Genesis 7:1, the Lord said to Noah.“Go into the ark, you and your whole family.”
Obeying these words, Noah and his family entered the ark. In Genesis 8:16, the Lord said to Noah.“Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives. . . .”
Obeying these words, Noah and his family left the ark. It was God’s Word, not his own careful observations, that ultimately determined Noah’s actions. Jesus Christ said.
John 10:4 “His sheep follow Him because they know His voice.”
When we hear God’s word and obey it, our steps will be firm. “It is entirely up to you to decide what is right and wrong. Do as you please!” We are now living in such a time period. Unfortunately, if we live by this decision-making, we will be more and more confused and conflict will continue to increase.
Do you need someone to say “no” to you? Do you need someone to say “okay” to you? But who is going to tell you that? Is there anyone in this world that can be trusted that much?
It is God the Father who opened the door to the beginning of our lives. Therefore, He will close the door of our lives at the end of it. Man became a living being when God breathed into him the breath of life. As such, the One who draws our last breath is also God. What a blessing it is to be able to surrender one’s walk to this God.
But as for what happens from today forward, it is a different story. People in the Lord, why don’t you walk your life with the Lord? I used to walk with the Lord. But not anymore. It was a long time ago. If you are such a person, let’s start again today and walk with the Lord in the life God has for us.
Why not lead your family with the Lord, like Noah? In front of you is the Sheperd, the Lord Jesus Christ. Right now, I am not saying anything complicated or difficult. I am just saying, “Let’s walk through life with the Lord.”
Let us have the Lord hold the full authority of our lives in His hands, and continue to walk this journey with the Lord. In this simple recommendation lies the best we can obtain. And that’s where our whole Christian life is.

２）神様が言われたように大地には４０日４０夜、雨が降り続け、ノアと彼の家族は一年余り、箱舟の中に暮らすことになります。「クルーズ船」と「ノアの箱舟」の違いはなんですか。彼らの日々の苦労は何だったと想像しますか。
３）ストレスフルな環境の中で、ノアはコツコツと毎日すべきことをし続けました。いかなる環境の中にあっても、小さなことを丁寧にし続けることはなぜ大切ですか（ヘブル１０章３５節−３６節）。
４）ノアは外界の状況を知るためにカラスや鳩を空に放ちました。その調査により、大地は乾いていることを知りました。しかし、それでも彼は箱舟を出ようとはしませんでした。なぜですか。
５）神様はノアに向かい、箱舟から出るように言い、ノアはその言葉に従い、箱舟を出ました。あなたは何をもって物事を決めていますか。そこに神様の介入はありますか？
６）エノクとノアについて、聖書は同じことを記し、それを評価しています。それは彼らが「神と共に歩んだ」ということです（創世記３章２２節、６章９節）。私達が日々、神と共に歩むということは具体的にどんなことだと思いますか。
