それがいかなる職業であっても、またスポーツであっても、勉強であっても、共通することがあります。それは、その分野で一番力を発揮する人は必死に努力している人ではなく、楽しんでそれらに取り組んでいる人なのです。人が嫌だな、しんどいな、さぼりたいな、手を抜きたいなと思っていることを楽しくやっているのですから、おのずとその結果に違いが出てきます。
私達がイエス様と歩む人生に、この楽しみはないのでしょうか。あの１２弟子たちは歯をくいしばってイエス様に従ったのでしょうか。私達は立ち止まって考えなければなりません。「私は信仰生活を楽しんでいるだろか」と。はたして「信仰生活」と「楽しみ」とは、結びつくのでしょうか（大倉）。

楽しもう、笑おう、遊ぼう

聖書、ヨハネの福音書２章にはイエス・キリストが成された一番、最初の奇跡が記録されています。それはガリラヤのカナという場所で起きた奇跡です。その婚礼にはイエス様もイエス様の母マリアも弟子たちも招かれていました。当時の婚宴は一週間、ゲストに開放され、新郎新婦は王と王妃のような取り扱いを受けたといいます。皆さん、どうですか、今日から来週の日曜日まで催されるという結婚式の招待状がきたら！
当時の人々の生活を想像するに、この新郎新婦の毎日は生きていくための労働に明け暮れていたことでしょう。しかし、その一週間だけは喜びと祝いの中心にいることが許される、新郎新婦にとって、それは人生最良の時であったに違いありません。しかし、そこに大きな問題が起きました。
祝宴のただ中で、祝いを象徴するブドウ酒がなくなってしまったというのです。言うまでもない、それは祝宴に水を差すようなことになりかねない出来事です。盛り上がっていた宴が、そのことでしぼんでしまい、そのことを知った人達は家路につき始めるでしょう。七日の予定が三日でお開きとなるかもしれないのです。このことは招いたゲストに対する失礼にあたり、新郎新婦にとって生涯、ついて回る恥となってしまうような事態です。
この状況を知ったイエス様の母マリアがイエス様に向かって、この問題を打ち明けます。「ぶどう酒がなくなってしまいました」母の言葉に対してイエス様は「そのことが私と何の関わりがありますか」と言います。英語の聖書にはと書いてあります。すなわち、それは「あなたたちの楽しみ、喜びのために私を関わらせる、インボルブさせるのですか？」ということです。
そうは言いながらも、結論を言いますと、イエス様は六つの大きな瓶に水を汲ませ、その水を芳醇（ほうじゅん）なぶどう酒に変えたのです。そのことはイエス様が危機的な祝宴を救われたことを意味しました。また同時にそれはイエス・キリストが人々の喜びが失われることを良しとしなかったことを意味します。さらに言いますと、イエス・キリストは人々の楽しみと喜びに自ら関わった、Involvedなさったことを意味します。皆さん、ヨハネはこの出来事をこのように閉じています。
ヨハネ２章１１節「イエスは、この最初のしるしをガリラヤのカナで行い、その栄光を現された」
ヨハネはあえてこの奇跡こそがイエスが初めてなさった奇跡だと記録したのです。イエス・キリストが一番、最初になさった奇跡は「嵐を静める」とか「瀕死の人間を救う」というような奇跡ではありませんでした。それは人の日常のささやかな喜びが絶やされることがないように、イエス様自身がその出来事に関わったものだったのです。そして、それによりイエスはその栄光をあらわした、すなわち私達の喜びを持続させることにより、その栄光をあらわしたのです。
私はこう思います。このイエス様の記念すべき一番、最初の奇跡において、味気のない水を味わい深いブドウ酒に変えたということは、すなわち、神は私達の味気のないような人生を味わい深い人生と変えてくれることではなかろうか。私達は喜んでいいのだ、楽しんでいいのだということを神は肯定しておられるのではなかろうか。いや、もっと言いますと、そのあなたたちの楽しみと喜びのために、私も関わるぞということが、ここからうかがい知れないでしょうか。
日本にいた時、「信仰生活を守る」という言葉を聞くことがありました。「日曜礼拝を死守する」と言われたこともありました。しかし、なぜ私達は「信仰生活を楽しむ」とは言わないのでしょうか。「日曜礼拝を喜ぶ」ということを私達は考えたことがあるのでしょうか。
「守る」という言葉は私達の肩に力を入れさせます。余分な力が入ると私達はありのままでいることができず、本当の力を発揮することができません。そして、守るということはどうしても私達の関心を内側だけに向けさせます。
そこから外に目を向け、外に出ていく力はなかなか生まれません。余計な力が入ると、その緊張感が回りに伝わり、回りの人の心も守りにはいり、その心は閉ざされます。しかし反対に「楽しむ・喜ぶ」ことは私達から余分な力をぬくことができます。

はたして「信仰生活」と「楽しみ」とは、結びつくのでしょうか。聖書によると、カナの婚礼には料理頭の「最初に良いブドウ酒を出す」というプロのもてなしがありました。彼らが最初に良いブドウ酒を出したのは、酔いが回る前にブドウ酒の美味しさをゲストに味わってもらうためです。彼らが酔い始めると、その味覚は麻痺し、ブドウ酒の味が判別できなくなるゆえ、後半からは別に良いブドウ酒でなくともいいのです。
私達は同じことを人生についても思うことがあります。ある人はいいます、「若い時はよかったな」「しかし、歳老いてからの人生には楽しみはない」
覚えてください、主イエスは最後のゲストが帰路に着く、その時まで最高のぶどう酒を彼らにお与えになったのです。最後まで新郎新婦も招かれた客も、その喜びと笑いが途切れることはなかったのです。
「これからの人生はつまらないものだ」ということは誰が決めたのですか。私たち自身です。主は私たちの人生の最後まで、その喜びと楽しみを提供しようとされるお方です。
皆さん、最近、笑っていますか。笑いというのはいつ起こるのかご存知ですか。聖書の中には笑った人達がいます。いいえ、人達というより、笑った夫婦です。そう、あのアブラハムとサラです。
創世記１７章１７節「アブラハムはひれ伏して笑い、心の中で言った「百歳の者にどうして子が生まれよう。サラはまた九十歳にもなって、どうして産むことができようか」
創世記１８章１２節「それでサラは心の中で笑って言った、わたしは衰え、主人もまた老人であるのに、私に楽しみなどありえようか」
創世記２１章６節「そしてサラは言った、神はわたしを笑わせてくださった。聞く者は皆わたしのことで笑うでしょう」
彼らがなぜ笑ったかご存知ですか。１００歳になるアブラハム、９０歳になるサラに子供が与えられるといわれたからです。すなわち、彼らの笑いは「自分の固定概念が壊された時」に自ずと起きたことなのです。分かりやすくいいますと「こうなるべき」と思っていたものが、予想外のことになる時に私達は笑うのです。
トランプには数字が記されています。しかし、それだけではトランブはおもしろくありません。トランプには数字ではあてはまらないカードがあります。
私達はそのカードをジョーカーと呼びます（この呼び名はジョークからきています）。数字の羅列、確率をなき者にしてしまう存在、そこにトランプの楽しみがあるのです。私達の想像もしていなかったハプニングは私達に笑いをもたらすのです。
カナの婚礼の台所事情を知っていた料理頭と僕だけが、このイエスがなさったことを知っていたと聖書は記録しています。彼らはこれらの驚くべき出来事、ハプニングを見てどうしたと思いますか。最初はあっけにとられていたと思います。しかし、後になって我にかえって、彼らは笑ったのではないでしょうか。
彼らは「ぶどう酒が尽きてしまう」と血の気が引くような緊張を経験します。しかし、イエスによって考えもしなかった、最高のブドウ酒が最後まで提供されるようになった。彼らはその想像を超えた出来事を目撃したのですから、笑いが込み上げてきたことでしょう。
このように「笑いとは固定概念が壊される時に起きる」ということであるならば、私達のクリスチャン・ライフには笑いが保証されているということです。なぜなら信仰をもつということは本来、固定概念が壊されることを意味するからです。私達の習慣とか経験、さらには私達の常識、限界、数字による確率ということまでを超えた神の働きに私達が目を止めていくことが私達の信仰生活です。そうであるのなら、私達の信仰生活には常に笑いが伴うのです。
ところで聖書には「イエス様が泣いた」ということは記録されていますが、「イエスが笑った」ということは記録されていません。なぜですか。イエス様は笑わなかったのですか。福音書の記者が書き留めた記録は特別な出来事でした。イエス様は今日、６時に起き、顔を洗い、身支度を整えたというようなことは書いていません。なぜですか、イエス様は顔を洗ったり、身支度をしなかったのですか。いいえ、イエス様も顔を洗い、身支度をしたのです。でも当たり前にしていることをあえて記録する必要はないのです。イエス様が涙を流されたのは稀な出来事であったのでしょう。しかし、イエス様はいつも笑っておられたゆえに福音書の記者はあえてそれを書き記す必要などなかったのでしょう。
かの日、大人も子供も食事を取るのも忘れてイエス様の後を追いました。大人には義理というものがある、しかし、子供はそんなの関係ない。行きたいか、行きたくないのかということには彼らの気持ちが１００％、反映します。子供たちはよく食べ、よく笑う、イエス・キリストについていったのです。
最後に「遊ぶ」ということについてお話ししましょう。「あんぱんまん」という漫画の作者、やなせたかしさんは言います。『子どもというのはどんな逆境にあっても、遊びます』退屈な病院の待合室でも、彼らは遊びを見つけます。たとえそれが避難所であっても彼らは遊び始めます。人間は「遊び心」を失った時に恐ろしいことをし始めます。「遊び心」は心の余裕から生まれるからです。世界で最も困難な歴史を歩んだユダヤ人は一番、ジョークを語る民族です。
このカナで執り行われていた祝宴が暗いものであったとは思えません。そこには喜びと笑いがありました。そして、それが一週間も続いたというのですから、そこには当時の余興といいますか、遊びもあったことでしょう。飲む、食べるだけでは一週間はもちません。イエス様が水をブドウ酒に変えたことは、その祝宴が続くことを良しとされたということであり、またそこでの遊びを喜び、きっとそこにご自身も加わったと私は思います。
遊びは、英語でいうところのＰＬＡＹですが、このＰＬＡＹには色々な意味があります。「遊んでばかりいて」と咎めることができないほどに遊びには深い意味があるのをご存知でしょうか。
もちろんこの場合の「遊び」とは違法なもの、自分の健康や財産、家庭を壊してしまうようなものではありません。そのことにより自分の心身がリフレッシュするだけではなく、共にそれを楽しむ人たちも同じ恩恵を受け、そのひと時を神様に感謝することができるような遊びです。
皆さん、「遊び、ｐｌａｙ」という言葉の意味の中に「機械の部品と部品の間の余裕」というものがあるのをご存知でしょうか。車にこの遊びがなくなると、ハンドルやブレーキが擦り切れて事故が起きます。同じように私達も遊びを失うと、燃え尽きてしまうのです。
このカナの婚礼はヨハネだけが記している出来事なのですが、伝説によりますと、そのヨハネはウズラ狩りを楽しみとしていたといいます。ある時、彼の弟子がヨハネに尋ねます。「あなたのような偉い人がそんなくだらない遊びをしているのですか」ヨハネは答えます。「弓は張ったままではいけない、時にゆるめないと肝心な時に矢を撃つことができない」。もしかしたら、彼の心の中には、このカナの婚礼の人々の楽しみと遊びの輪の中にいにキリストの姿があったことでしょう。
皆さん、私達の主イエス・キリストはその記念すべき最初の奇跡を我々にとって大きな喜びの現場となる結婚式においてなされました。その結婚式の喜び、楽しみ、笑い、遊びが中断されないように、その奇跡はなされたのです。私達がこの出来事を知る時に、神は私達が楽しみ、笑い、遊びと共に生きることを願っていることが分かります。
あの無心論者であったニーチェが言った言葉を思い出しましょう。「私がキリスト教徒にならないのは、彼らの間に喜びというものを見いだすことができないからだ」。イエス・キリストは言われました。「あなたたちは世の光です」。暗闇に包まれているような世界にあって、私達は世にキリストにある喜びと楽しみと笑いを差し出していきましょう。
あなたは家庭や職場にどんな光景を見たいですか。皆が緊張して、ビクビクしているような光景でしょうか。恐れが支配し、感情を押し殺しているような光景でしょうか。主にある皆さん、私達はそこに互いの笑顔を見たいのではないでしょうか。
きっと、この野外礼拝のメッセージの最後に私が何を言いたいのかお分かりになるでしょうか。そう、これが結論です。ですから今日、私たちは大いに笑い、大いに遊ぼうではありませんか！
この後の食卓を楽しんでください。イエス・キリストほど会食を楽しまれた方はいません。用意されているぬいぐるみを子供と一緒に着てみてください。きっとぬいぐるみの中から、違った風景を見ることができるでしょう。ぬいぐるみを着て子供と一緒に記念の写真を撮ってください。しかし、予めご了承ください。あなたと子供の姿は写真に映っていません。そこには恐竜や相撲レスラーがいるだけです。でも１０年後、あなたはその写真を見て子供と笑いながら今日という日について話すことができるでしょう。
本日午後一時、ソフトボールフィールドに来てください。お父さん方、今日、皆さんはタティス・ジュニアになれるかもしれません。昔、ソフトボールをしていたというお母さん方、躊躇しないでください。
父なる神様の祝福が今日、この公園で時を過ごす皆さんの上に豊かにありますように！皆さんから主イエスがくださる喜びと笑いが失われることがありませんように！お祈りしましょう。
Let’s have fun, laugh, and play!

The Bible, in chapter 2 of the Gospel of John records the very first miracle that Jesus Christ performed. It was a miracle that took place in a place called Cana in Galilee. Jesus, His mother Mary, and His disciples were invited to that wedding. In those days, the wedding feast was open to guests for a week, and the bride and groom were treated like kings and queens. Dear people, what would it be like to get an invitation to a wedding that will be held from today until next Sunday!
One can only imagine the lives of the people of that time, and the days of this bride and groom must have been filled with laborious work to survive. But for the bride and groom, who were allowed to be in the center of joy and celebration for that one week, it must have been the best time of their lives. However, a big problem arose there.
In the midst of the feast, the wine, symbolic of the celebration, ran out. Needless to say, it was something that could put a damper on the festivities. The lively feast will be dampened by it, and those who learn of it will soon begin to go home. The scheduled seven-day event may end in three days. This would have been disrespectful to the invited guests, and will cause lifelong embarrassment for the bride and groom.
When Mary, Jesus’ mother, learned of this situation, she made known the problem to Jesus. “They have no more wine.” In response to his mother’s words, Jesus says, “What does that have to do with me?” The English Bible says, “Why do you involve me?” In other words, it is to say, “Do you want to involve me for the sake of your fun and enjoyment?”
Having said that, Jesus ended up changing water that filled up six large jars into fine wine. This meant that Jesus saved the feast from crisis. At the same time, it also means that Jesus Christ did not approve of the loss of the people’s joy. More to the point, it means that Jesus Christ involved Himself in the fun and joy of the people. Dear people, John closes out this event in this way.
John 2:11: What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which He revealed His glory.
John dared to record that this was the first miracle Jesus had ever performed. Jesus Christ’s very first miracle was not “calming a storm” or “saving a dying person”. It was Jesus Himself who was involved in the event, so that the small joys of a person’s daily life would not cease. And in doing so, Jesus revealed His glory, that is, He revealed His glory by sustaining our joy.
I think of it this way. In this memorable very first miracle of Jesus, wouldn’t the fact that He turned tasteless water into tasty wine suggest that God would change our tasteless life into a tasty life? Isn’t God affirming that we are allowed to rejoice and have fun? Or, to put it more bluntly, can you not see that He will be involved for the sake of your fun and joy?
When I was in Japan, I sometimes heard the phrase, “Keep your life of faith”. I was also told, “Keep Sunday worship to death”. But why don’t we say, “Enjoy your life of faith”? Have we ever thought about “Enjoying Sunday worship”?
The word “keep” puts a lot of pressure on our shoulders. When unnecessary pressure is applied, we are unable to be ourselves, and we are not able to show our true strength. And keeping (or protecting) inevitably directs our attention only inwardly.
From there, the ability to look outward and go outward is not easily created. When unnecessary pressure is applied, the tension is transmitted to those around you, and the hearts of those around you become defensive, and their hearts become closed. However, conversely, by “enjoying and rejoicing,” we can remove the unnecessary pressure off of us.
No matter what profession, sport, or study, they all have one thing in common. It is that the people who are best in their field are not those who desperately work hard, but those who enjoy what they do and have fun doing it. Because they are having fun doing things that other people find unpleasant, tiring, or want to skip or cut corners, the results will naturally be different.
Do we not have this enjoyment in our lives as we walk with Jesus? Did those 12 disciples grit their teeth and follow Jesus? We must stop and think. Am I enjoying my life of faith?”
Is there really a connection between a “life of faith” and “enjoyment”? According to the Bible, there was professional hospitality at the wedding at Cana, with the master of the banquet “bringing out the choice wine first”. They served good wine first so that the guests could taste the goodness of the wine before getting drunk. Once they start to get drunk, their sense of taste becomes numb and they cannot taste the wine, so it did not have to be good wine for the second half of the feast.
We sometimes think the same thing about life. Some people say, “It was great when I was young.” “But there is no pleasure in life when one is old.”Remember, the Lord Jesus gave them the best wine until the last guest was on their way home. Till the end, the bride and groom and their invited guests had never ceased their joy and laughter.Who decided that “life from now on will be boring?” It is ourselves. The Lord is the One who provides that joy and enjoyment until the end of our lives.
Dear People, have you been laughing lately? Do you know when laughter occurs? There are people in the Bible who laughed. No, not people, but a couple who laughed. Yes, that Abraham and Sarah.
Genesis 17:17: Abraham fell facedown; he laughed and said to himself, “Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?”
Genesis 18:12: So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, “After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?”
Genesis 21:6: Sarah said, “God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me.”
Do you know why they laughed? It is because they were told that a child would be given to Abraham, who will be 100 years old, and Sarah, who will be 90. In other words, their laughter was spontaneous “when their stereotypes were broken”. To put it simply, we laugh when something we thought “should happen” turns out to be unexpected.
Playing cards are marked with numbers. However, that alone does not make the playing cards interesting. There is a card in the deck that does not have a number.
We call that card a joker (the name comes from a joke). Among a list of numbers, something exists that makes probability disappear, is where the fun of playing cards lies. Happenings we never imagined bring us laughter.
The Bible records that only the master of the banquet and the servants who knew what was going on in the kitchen at the wedding in Cana, knew what Jesus had done. What do you think they did when they saw these amazing events and happenings? I think they were taken aback at first. But they must have laughed when they later came to themselves.
They experienced a blood draining tension as they “ran out of wine”. But through Jesus, the best wine that they never would have thought of was being served to the end. They must have burst into laughter as they witnessed the unimaginable.
Thus, if “laughter is what happens when stereotypes are broken,” then laughter is guaranteed in our Christian life. This is because having faith inherently means that stereotypes are broken. Stopping to look at God’s work that transcends our habits, our experiences, and even our common sense, limitations, and numerical probabilities, is our life of faith. If so, then our life of faith is always accompanied by laughter.
By the way, the Bible records that “Jesus wept,” but not that “Jesus laughed”. Why? Did Jesus not laugh? What the Gospel writers wrote down and recorded were of special events. It does not say that Jesus got up at 6 o’clock today, washed his face, and got dressed. Why, did Jesus not wash his face or get dressed? No, Jesus washed his face and got dressed, too. But there is no need to record what is commonly expected. It must have been a rare event for Jesus to shed tears. However, since Jesus was always laughing, the Gospel writers did not see the need to write it down.
In those days, adults and children followed Jesus, even forgetting to eat. Adults have a sense of duty, but children don’t care about that. Their feelings are 100% reflected in whether they want to go or not. The children ate well, laughed often, and followed Jesus Christ.
Finally, let’s talk about “playing”.「Yanase Takashi, the creator of the manga Anpanman, says: “Children, no matter the adversity, will play. Even in a boring hospital waiting room, they find play. Even if it is a shelter they begin to play.
When people lose their “playfulness” they begin to do terrible things. This is because “playfulness” comes from a contented heart. The Jews, who have had the most difficult history in the world, are the people who tell the most jokes.
It is hard to imagine that the feast that was being held in Cana was a dark one. There was joy and laughter. And since it was said to have lasted for a week, there must have been some entertainment or playfulness in those days. Drinking and eating alone will not last a week. I believe that the fact that Jesus turned water into wine means that he considered it good that the feast should continue, and that he rejoiced in the play there and surely joined himself in it.
Play in Japanese is ASOBI, and this ASOBI like the word PLAY has many meanings. Did you know that play or asobi has such a profound meaning that you cannot blame someone for “playing all the time”.
Of course, “play” in this case does not mean anything illegal, anything that could destroy one’s health, property, or family. It is playing in such a way that not only refreshes one’s body and mind, but also allows those who enjoy it together to receive the same benefits and to thank God for that moment.
Do you know that one of the meanings of the word “asobi or play” is “the space between the parts of a machine”? If the car loses this play, the steering wheel and brakes will wear out and accidents will occur. In the same way, when we lose our play, we burn out.
The wedding in Cana is an event that is recorded only by John, who, according to legend, enjoyed quail hunting. One time, his disciple asked John. “A great man like you playing such a silly game?” John replied. “The bow must not remain taut, but must be loosened from time to time, or you will not be able to shoot an arrow at the critical moment.” Perhaps, in his mind, he saw Christ in the circle of fun and games of the people at this wedding in Cana.
Dear people, our Lord Jesus Christ performed His memorable first miracle at a wedding that is a place of great joy for us.The miracle was done so that the joy, fun, laughter, and play of that wedding would not be interrupted. When we know of this event, we understand that God wants us to have fun, laugh, and live with play.
Let us remember what the atheist Friedrich Nietzsche said. “The reason I will not become a Christian is because I cannot find joy among them.” Jesus Christ said. “You are the light of the world.” In a world that seems to be enveloped in darkness, let us offer the world joy, fun and laughter in Christ.
What would you like to see in your home or workplace? Is it a scene where everyone is nervous and jittery? Is it a scene where fear reigns and emotions are stifled? Dear people in the Lord, we would like to see each other’s smiles there.
Surely you can see what I am trying to say at the end of this outdoor worship message. Yes, this is the conclusion. So today, let us laugh and play a lot!
Enjoy the food that follows. No one enjoyed eating with others more than Jesus Christ. Try on together with your child the inflatable costumes that are provided. You will surely see a different view through the inflatable costumes. Wear an inflatable custume and take a commemorative photo with your child. However, please understand this beforehand. You and your child will not be in the picture. There will only be a dinosaur and sumo wrestler. But 10 years from now, you will be able to look at that picture and laugh with your child and talk about this day.
Come to the softball field today at 1 pm. Fathers, today you could all be Tatis Jr. Mothers who used to play softball, do not hesitate to come out and play.
May the blessings of God the Father be richly upon all of you who spend time in this park today! May you never lose the joy and laughter that the Lord Jesus gives you! Let us pray.
