私達は勝利を確信している

ヨハネ１６章３３節
33これらのことをあなたがたに話したのは、わたしにあって平安を得るためである。あなたがたは、この世ではなやみがある。しかし、勇気を出しなさい。わたしはすでに世に勝っている」。

さて、このような問いかけに答えることができる人、いますか。
世界で最も裕福な人の名前を五人あげなさい。
昨年のミス・ユニバースの名前をあげなさい。
最近の３人のノーベル賞、受賞者の名前をあげなさい。
答えられる人はいないでしょう。これらの人たちは皆、ある意味、最後に勝ち残った人達で、勝利者と呼ばれる人たちです。まさしく彼らは時の人であり、羨望の的となっている人達です。そこに居た人達の視線は彼らだけに注がれて、スタンディングオベーションを受けた人達です。しかし、その人たちをいつまでも覚えている人はいません。
このことを身に染みて知っていた野球監督に野村勝也さんがいます。彼は「人生のうちで野球をやっている期間は短く、それは人生の一部である。リタイヤした後にあの人は元プロ野球選手だと言われて終わるのはみじめだ。私は野球を通じて、その後の人生につながるような人間形成をはかるように選手と向き合って来た」と言っています。スーパーボールに勝っても、ワールドシリーズに勝ってもそれはひと時のことであり、このことは私達の人生はそれでは終わらない、そのことでその人が人生の勝利者となるわけではないということです。
スポーツでもミスグランプリでも、ビジネスでも、ビンゴでも、宝くじでも、それらは全て人生の一部なのであり、それで人生は終わりではなく以後、続いていくのです。人生は最後の最後まで分からないのです。ライフ・ゴーズオン！
聖書はこの「勝ち負け」について何と言っているのでしょうか。聖書は勝ち負けの区別をせずに、やんわりと皆が公平に仲良しにと言っているのでしょうか。いいえ、驚かれるかもしれませんが、聖書は明らかに勝利について語っているのです。今日の箇所、 ヨハネ１６章３３節においてイエス様は勝利の宣言rをしているとおりです。
ここでイエス様は何に勝っていると言っていますか。イエス様は「わたしは既に世に勝っている」と言ったのです。この言葉は勝利を手中に収めようとしているというのではなくて、イエス様は既に世に勝っているというのです。
この言葉を直にイエス様から聞いた弟子ヨハネもその手紙にはっきりと書いています。『なぜなら、すべて神から生れた者は、世に勝つからである。そして、わたしたちの信仰こそ、世に勝たしめた勝利の力である。世に勝つ者はだれか。イエスを神の子と信じる者ではないか』（Ⅰヨハネ５：４‐５）
ヨハネは「勝つ」ことを意識し、それを求めました。しかし、彼がいう「勝ち」とは、今日の勝ち負けの対象が職業・容姿、服装、学歴、趣味、家柄等に対するものであるのに対して、彼はその勝ち負けを決する相手をイエス様が言われたように「世」と定めていたのです。
このことは多くの私達には不思議に思えます。なぜなら、今、お話しましたように私達にとって勝敗を決する相手というのは「誰それという個人」であったり、同業種の「競争相手」であったりするわけで、「世」との取組みについて考えている人はおらず、また世と向き合って勝ち負けを考えている人はいないからです。
すなわち聖書は、私達の仕事や容姿や学歴や家柄は、そもそも私達の勝敗を決するようなものではないのだということを私達に伝えているのではないでしょうか。その中で唯一、その勝敗にかかわるものとして「世」ということについて聖書は触れているのです。
この世については色々な人が様々なことを言っておりますが、その一つにこの世は無常だという宗教的な言葉があります。この言葉が示しますことは文字通り「常なるものは無いのだ」ということで、そうであるのなら私達がこの世に対してできることは、この日々、変わりゆく世界を受け入れる以外にないということになるのです。この常なるものはないということは、勝ち組と呼ばれている人達がそう呼ばれる原因となっているものにも該当します。そうです、それらは常なるものではないのです。
そして、それは私達自身もまさしくそうで、私達は生まれ、病み、老い、死ぬということに直面します。この無常にどう向き合うかというところから宗教が生まれてきたのです。しかし、そんな無常な世に対して勝利をとったと言った者はイエス・キリスト以外にいないのです。
もし仮に、この世界に勝利するなどという大それたことを言うことができる存在がいるとしたら、その方というのはこの世以上の存在、もっといいますとこの世の法則である、生と死というものの法則から完全に解かれている存在でなければならないのです。このことにおいて世に既に勝っていると言われたイエス様はこんなことを言っています。「わたしの国はこの世のものではない・・・。事実、わたしの国はこの世のものではない」（ヨハネ１８章３６節）。彼は自身、自分はこの世の者ではないと言ったのです。すなわち、彼はこの世の無常の法則に支配されることのない存在でありました。
さらに、驚くべきことにこのイエス・キリストをこの地上に送られた神はこの世についてある思いをもたれていました。「神は、実に、そのひとり子をお与えになったほどに、世を愛された」（ヨハネの福音書 ３：１６）
神はこの世を愛されたというのです。愛というものの大きさをもし計ることができるとしますなら、その相手に対して何を犠牲にすることができるかということがあげられるでしょう。神は実に、そのひとり子、すなわち最も大切なものを与えるほどに、この無常な世を愛されたというのです。そして、ここで言う世の対象は私達なのです。愛の対象は愛される資格もない私達なのです。それ故にその時に私達は「神よ、なにゆえに」と思うのです。
ダビデは詩篇８篇３節、４節において、その気持ちというものをこう表現しました。「わたしは、あなたの指のわざなる天を見、あなたが設けられた月と星とを見て思います。人は何者なので、これを心にとめられるのですか。人の子は何者なので、これを顧みられるのですか」
この「なにゆえに」という驚きと「それにもかかわらず」というその神の愛に気がつかされる時、私達もパウロがローマ書８章３７節ー３９節において言っている言葉と共に生きることになるのです。
３７しかし、わたしたちを愛して下さったかたによって、わたしたちは、これらすべての事において勝ち得て余りがある。 ３８わたしは確信する。死も生も、天使も支配者も、現在のものも将来のものも、力あるものも、３９高いものも深いものも、その他どんな被造物も、わたしたちの主キリスト・イエスにおける神の愛から、わたしたちを引き離すことはできないのである。
ここでパウロが言っている死も生も、現在のものも将来のものも、力あるものも、それらは全て無常なるものです。宗教指導者は老いも病も死もそのまま受け入れなさいと言います。そして、それは言い方を変えれば「それらを仕方のないものとして諦めなさい」ということです。ですから私達はこの宗教者の言わんとすることを理解します。なぜなら、私達がいたるところというのは、やはりその辺りだからです。これだけは自分でどうこうすることができないものなのですから。
しかし、パウロはこれら「死も生」も主イエス・キリストにおける神の愛から、私達を引き離すことはできないと言ったのです。私達は確かに病を負い、年月と共に老い、やがて死にます。私達の健康も若さも常なるものではないからです。もっと言いますと私達の互いの心も常に変わるものです。時に「熱愛」は冷めていくのです。
しかし、聖書はそんな私達を私達を愛しておられお方がいるというのです。そのお方の愛を知る時にパウロはこれら全てのことについて勝ち得て余りがあるといったのです。世に起こるどんな事柄もこの神の愛から自分を引き離すことはできないと言ったのです。
私達がこの世に対して全く無力なことは「死」でありますでしょう。死と対峙します時に、それを克服した人、すなわちその死に勝利した人間は未だかつていないのです。しかし、使徒パウロはこう書き記しました。
「ここで、あなたがたに奥義を告げよう。わたしたちすべては、眠り続けるのではない。終わりのラッパの響きと共に、またたく間に、一瞬にして変えられる。というのは、ラッパが響いて、死人は朽ちない者によみがえさせられ、わたしたちは変えられるのである。なぜなら、この朽ちるものは必ず朽ちないものを着ることになるからである。この朽ちるものが朽ちないものを着、この死ぬものが死なないものを着る時、聖書に書いてある言葉が成就するのである。「死は勝利にのまれてしまった。死よ、おまえの勝利はどこにあるのか。死よ、おまえのとげはどこにあるのか」。死のとげは罪である。罪の力は律法である。しかし感謝すべきことには、神はわたしたちの主イエス・キリストによって、わたしたちに勝利を賜ったのである。だから、愛する兄弟たちよ。堅く立って動かされず、いつも全力を注いで主のわざに励みなさい。主にあっては、あなたがたの労苦がむだになることはないと、あなたがたは知っているからである」。 １コリント１５章５１節－５８節
パウロは言いました。「死は勝利にのまれてしまった。死よ、お前の勝利はどこにあるのか」。神は私達の主イエスが十字架によりその愛を私達に示され、さらにその死から復活されることにより、死に対する勝利をわたしたちにも賜ったというのです。
先ほど世の億万長者、その姿かたち、その職業において勝利者となった者達を私達は知らない、心にとめていないと申し上げました。しかし、イエス・キリストはいかがでしょうか。キリストには財なく、社会的地位もなく、学識もありませんでした。しかし、今日、イエス・キリストの名を知らぬ人はいません。この世と格闘している私達は、この世に完全な勝利をとられたお方の名前は決して忘れないのです。そして、このことについて聖書は人事ではなく、驚くべき、そうそれはそれはもう驚嘆すべき約束を私達に残しているのです。「世に勝つ者はだれか。イエスを神の子と信じる者ではないか」（Ⅰヨハネ５：５）彼を信じる者は、彼と同じように世に対する勝利者となることができるからです。
それだけではなく、聖書はそんな私達にこんな約束もしておられます。14しかるに、神は感謝すべきかな。神はいつもわたしたちをキリストの凱旋に伴い行き、わたしたちをとおしてキリストを知る知識のかおりを、至る所に放って下さるのである。（Ⅱコリント２章１４節）。凱旋とは勝利者のパレードです。私達はイエス・キリストゆえにそのパレードの参列に加わることができるのです。
パウロは言います「しかし、私達を愛してくださった方によって、私達は勝ちえて余がある」（ローマ８章３７節）新改訳聖書では「私達は私達を愛してくださった方によって、これら全てのことの中にあって圧倒的な勝利者となるのです。
何度も死ぬほどの困難を繰り返した、おそらく、この時も何かしらの試練の中にいたであろうパウロは言いました「わたしを愛してくださった方によって、私達は勝ちえて余がある」
また「世に勝つ者はだれか。イエスを神の子と信じる者ではないか」（１ヨハネ５章５節）とヨハネが書いた時、彼の人生は晩年であり、その時に彼はパトモス島に島流しにされた囚人であったのです。その生涯が終わりに近づき、人生の辛苦をなめ尽くした彼が言うのです「世に勝つ者はだれか。イエスを神の子と信じるものではないか」と。
私達はどうですか。私達はイエス様が言ったように世では悩みがあります。悲しみがあります。はたして私達もイエス様のようにパウロのようにヨハネのように勝利者になれるのでしょうか。
「わたしは世に勝っている」と言われたお方は確かにこの世に勝利をとられました。このお方はこう言われたことを覚えていますか「わたしはブドウの木、あなたがたはその枝である」。皆さん、イエス様がブドウの木であり、私達がその枝であるのなら、イエス様が勝利者であるのなら、私達も勝利者なのです。枝と木とが全く別々ということはないでしょう。
主にあって人生の本当の勝利者となりましょう。皆さん、今、色々なことにおいて勝利しているかもしれません。連戦連勝といえるような毎日を送っている方もいるかもしれない。しかし、それが人生の全てではありません。あるいは敗北の連続というような毎日を送っている人もいるかもしれません。しかし、それゆえにあなたは本当の勝利者ではなく、敗北者でもないのです。それも人生の一部にすぎません。本当の勝利者はキリストにあって一見、おろかに見えるイエスの十字架による罪の赦しと永遠の命を得た者です。
凱旋パレードに加わっている者は下を向いていません。彼らは顔をあげて、そのパレードに加わっていることを誇りに思い、内なる喜びをあらわすのです。そうです、勝利者の笑みです。私達がこのところに加わっているのなら、私達は顔をあげてこの生涯を全うすべきです。世の人はもしかしたら私達を敗北者と呼ぶかもしれない。しかし、神の基準は違う。あなたはキリスト故に勝利者なのだと言うのです。
「あなたがたはこの世にあっては悩みがある。しかし、私は既に世に勝っている。世に勝つ者はだれか。イエスを神の子と信じる者ではないか。私達もこのイエスの勝利に共にあずかる者でありたいと思います。そして、勝利者であるのなら、勝利者たる生き方をしようではありませんか。私達は主イエス・キリスト故に私達に与えられている勝利のエンブレムを握りしめ、これからも胸をはって顔をあげて生きていくのです。

33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
Lately, we do not hear about KACHIGUMI and MAKEGUMI in Japanese. KACHIGUMI is a group of winners and MAKEGUMI is a group of losers. These words categorize us either winner or loser. It is good to not hear that these days. One incident happened at Akihabara, in Tokyo, Japan on 2008. One man stabbed and killed 7 innocent people who were just walking on the street. The man was arrested and police found a paper written by him before he committed the murders, he said KACHIGUMU (The Winners) do not understand how I feel. He thought of himself as a MAKEGUMI (Looser). The TV news mentioned about his statements and since that time people began to categorize either KACHIGUMI or MAKEGUMI in jobs, appearance, academic history even hobby and family trees. The use of these words gave rise to discrimination, prejudice and hatred, and as one result, seven were murdered.
Can you answer these questions?
Who are the top five richest people in the world? Who is the winner of Miss World last year? Tell us the three most recent Nobel Prize winners.
I don’t think you can answer these. These are people we are called winners. They had rivals, but won. They are the ones who received standing ovation. But not one person will remember them forever.
Katsuya Nomura, a former professional Japanese baseball coach knew this throughout his career. He used be one of the most remarkable baseball players in Japanese Baseball History. He said the length of a professional baseball player’s career is so short, and that is only a part of their life. He said, “It is sad if people only say, he was a baseball player before”. Therefore I try to teach them not only baseball skills but more focus on their growth as a man. Even if you won the Super Bowl or World Series, that is a moment of your life. Our life does not end with it and that victory is not the victory of our life.
The victory of sport, Miss World, business, lottery or even bingo, that is only part of our life and our life goes on. We do not know about our life until we actually reach the end. Life goes on!
What does the Bible say about winning and losing? Does the Bible expect there to be no winner or loser and make the world fair? You might be surprised, the Bible mentions about winning and victory. Jesus declares his victory in John 16:33.
What does Jesus say he won against? He said, I have overcome the world.” He did not say that I almost overcame the world but he said “I have overcome the world.”
One of his disciple’s, John said 4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. (1 John 5:4-5)
John paid attention to winning and sought victory. Although, the victory he sought was not about his job, appearance, his posessions, knowledge, or his family history. He just focused on overcoming the world as his master, Jesus said.
This is a wonder to us because when we talk about victory, we are talking about someone who competes with us. No one thinks about overcoming the world.
The Bible says, our job, appearance, academic History and family history will not decide our victory or defeat. In the topic of victory and loss, the “world” is focused on in the Bible.
There are many views and ideas about the world, an example is, “our world is vanity”. This is a kind of religious term. The idea is, there are no consistent things in this world. Everything is changing and we have to accept it. The things what worldly winners receive are also changing. Yes these are changeable and perishable.
And this could also apply to our life, Yes we are born, get sick, get old and pass away. Many religion comes from this vanity, but among them, Jesus Christ is the only one to say, I have overcome the world.
If someone could say I have overcome the world, the man is bigger than our world, and which means the man has to be free from the rule of life and death. 36 Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world…, But now my kingdom is from another place.” (John 18:36). He said, he did not come from this world. He is not controlled by the rule of this world.
Amazingly God who sent Jesus Christ to this world has thought about our world, this is seen in;16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
God so loved the world. If we measure about His love, we will know how much he sacrificed for us. God loves us as He gave his only son which means He gave us the most precious one to us. We know we are not worth to be loved by God, so we think, why?
David expressed his thought in Psalm 8:3,4;When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?(Psalm 8:3-4)
We wonder why God loves us, and when we find “Yet, still he loves us”, we will follow the verses of Romans 8:37-39.37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Paul is saying our death, our life, our present and our future is all in vanity. Some religious leader suggests to us to accept our sickness and death as it is, and that means surrender to these because you cannot change it. We understand what the leader is talking about because that is exactly our nature. We cannot manage these by ourselves.
But Paul said death and life will not be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Surely, we get sick, we get old and we all die someday, because our health and youth is not consistent. Not only that, but our mind is also always changing. Sometimes even our love dies down.
But the Bible says there is one who loves us. The one who gave his life for us. Paul realized that when we know about the love of Jesus, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Nothing in this world will be able to separate us from the love of God.
We, all are powerless to our death. No one ever conquers death, but Paul wrote this; (This is a quit long, so please read along with Japanese on the screen).
51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
55 “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”
56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Paul said “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” 55 “Where, O death, is your victory? God shows His love through the cross of His son, Jesus Christ and by his resurrection, He also gives us victory from our death.
I said before we don’t know and remember our worldly winners but how about Jesus? He does not have a fortune, status or academic history, but we do not forget his name. And the Bible tells us an amazing promise. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
Not only that, the Bible also promised in 2nd Corinthians 2:14;14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.
Paul said; 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. (Romans 8:37). In New Japanese Translation it says, “In all these things we are absolute conquerors through him who loved us”.
Paul experienced the risk of his life so many times, but through his hardship he said 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. When John wrote this, his life is coming towards the end and he was captured in Patmos Island as a prisoner. He experienced so many things in his life and declared who will conquer the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
How about us? We have troubles and hardship as Jesus said. We have sorrow. Can we be like Paul and John?
Jesus overcame the world. Do you remember what he said 5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. Jesus is the vine and if we are the branches, we are one. If Jesus is the conqueror, we are also conqueror’s, because Vine and branch is not set apart, it is one.
Let us be true conquerors. You may keep winning in various things, but that is only part of your life. You may be feeling you are losing so many things, but you are not a loser. That is only part of your life. A True conqueror is the one who has been forgiven for sins by the cross of Jesus Christ and received eternal life from him.
People who are in the victorious parade never look down. Their face is lifted up and feel pride to be a part of the parade and express joy, yes that is the smile of a conqueror. If we are part of the parade, we should lift up our face. People might call us looser, but His standard is completely different. You are the conqueror because of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33), 5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. We eagerly want to be the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God, and if we are a true winner, only because of Christ, let us live like winner. Yes we keep walking with the victorious emblem and walk tall because of the victory of Jesus Christ. Let us pray.

６）Ⅱコリント２章１４節に『しかるに、神は感謝すべきかな。神はいつもわたしたちをキリストの凱旋に伴い行き、わたしたちをとおしてキリストを知る知識のかおりを、至る所に放って下さるのである』とあるように、私達にはキリストの勝利の凱旋に加わらせていただける特権が与えられているとしたら、このことは今を生きる私達をどのように変えますか。勝利者としての生き方はどんな姿ですか。
