真理に立つということは摩擦を生みますので、それは私達にはしんどいことです。誰かが傷つくかもしれませんし、当然、自分も傷つきます。これらはできたら極力、避けたいことですし、そうすることが愛なのだと私達は思うことがあります。
しかし、実際、よくよく心に手を置いて考えますと、その思いは愛ではないということにすぐに気がつかされます。すなわち、そのことを言ってしまったら自分はどう思われるだろうか、そのことによって反感を買うのではないだろうかという恐れと保身がそこにあることに気がつくのです。そして、その時に私達はキリストに満ち満ちているもの、すなわち愛にもまことにも生きてはいないのです。

Ⅱヨハネ：真理は愛に寄り添う

昨年の一月から始まりました聖書全巻からのメッセージシリーズも残りわずかとなりました。今日がヨハネ第二の手紙で、来週が第三、そして、ユダ、黙示録で聖書全巻が終わります。そこで、まず、今日、皆さんと共に見てまいります聖書中一番短い書であるヨハネ第二の手紙の冒頭にある言葉を数節、拝読させていただきます。
1長老のわたしから、真実に愛している選ばれた婦人とその子たちへ。あなたがたを愛しているのは、わたしだけではなく、真理を知っている者はみなそうである。2それは、わたしたちのうちにあり、また永遠に共にあるべき真理によるのである。3父なる神および父の御子イエス・キリストから、恵みとあわれみと平安とが、真理と愛のうちにあって、わたしたちと共にあるように。4あなたの子供たちのうちで、わたしたちが父から受けた戒めどおりに、真理のうちを歩いている者があるのを見て、わたしは非常に喜んでいる。5婦人よ。ここにお願いしたいことがある。それは、新しい戒めを書くわけではなく、初めから持っていた戒めなのであるが、わたしたちは、みんな互に愛し合おうではないか。6父の戒めどおりに歩くことが、すなわち、愛であり、あなたがたが初めから聞いてきたとおりに愛のうちを歩くことが、すなわち、戒めなのである（Ⅱヨハネ１章１節－６節）。
先週、私達はヨハネ第一の手紙よりヨハネの人となりについて見ました。すなわち、かつては「雷の子」と呼ばれていた彼が「愛の使徒」となり、口を開けば愛しか語らない人に変えられたということです。なぜ彼はそのように変わったのでしょうか、ヨハネは十字架のイエスを間近に見、そしてそこに本物の愛があるということを知ったからです。キリストの愛が彼を変えたのです。
今日、見てまいりますヨハネ第二の手紙は一章しかない短い手紙で、それはわずか１３節しかありませんが、やはりそこは愛の使徒、最初に読みました６節までの間に「愛」という言葉が５回も出てきます。彼はここでも変わらず「愛の使徒」です。しかし、そんなヨハネの手紙でありながら、彼は今、読みました言葉のすぐ後の７節以降にこう書いているのです。7なぜなら、イエス・キリストが肉体をとってこられたことを告白しないで人を惑わす者が、多く世にはいってきたからである。そういう者は、惑わす者であり、反キリストである。8よく注意して、わたしたちの働いて得た成果を失うことがなく、豊かな報いを受けられるようにしなさい。9すべてキリストの教をとおり過ごして、それにとどまらない者は、神を持っていないのである。その教にとどまっている者は、父を持ち、また御子をも持つ。10この教を持たずにあなたがたのところに来る者があれば、その人を家に入れることも、あいさつすることもしてはいけない。11そのような人にあいさつする者は、その悪い行いにあずかることになるからである。（ヨハネ第二の手紙１章７節－１１節）。
これらの厳しい言葉に私達は違和感を感じます。なぜなら、私達はヨハネを愛の使徒として見てきたばかりであり、ヨハネは今、読みました第二の手紙にもこのように書いているからです。5ここにお願いしたいことがある。それは、新しい戒めを書くわけではなく、初めから持っていた戒めなのであるが、わたしたちは、みんな互に愛し合おうではないか。6父の戒めどおりに歩くことが、すなわち、愛であり、あなたがたが初めから聞いてきたとおりに愛のうちを歩くことが、すなわち、戒めなのである（Ⅱヨハネ１章５節ー６節）。
かたや互いに愛し合うことが勧められており、かたやキリストの教えを通り過ごしている人達に対して厳しい態度で臨むようにと勧めています。「愛」という言葉の余韻をもって、この手紙を読むのなら、私達には明らかにそこに愛のかけらもないように思えます。これらの異なった勧めはどのように同居できるのでしょうか。
もう一度、このヨハネ第二の手紙の最初の一節から六節を読んでみましょう。そうしますと、そこには「愛」という言葉と共にある言葉に気がつきます。それは「愛」と同じように六節までに四回出てくる「真理」という言葉です。そうです、この「真理」という言葉は「愛」と言う言葉に寄り添うかのようにして書き記されているのです。
この度、このヨハネの手紙を読みつつ、あらためてヨハネによる福音書をも読み直してみて、目から鱗が落ちました。私達はかつての雷の子がキリストの愛によって変えられ愛の使徒となったということを知っています。そして、私達は聖書のメッセージは愛のメッセージだと言います。神は愛であり、イエス・キリストはその愛をご自身を通して世にあらわされたということを私達は知っています。そして、それは全く正しいことです。しかし、ヨハネはその「愛」の側にいつも「真理」を置いたのです。それは、ヨハネが持っている独特な考えではなくて、そこにいたった経緯というものがあります。
ヨハネは他の福音書とは異なる方法で、ヨハネによる福音書の冒頭を有名なこのような言葉で書き始めました。1初めに言があった。言は神と共にあった。言は神であった。2この言は初めに神と共にあった。3すべてのものは、これによってできた。できたもののうち、一つとしてこれによらないものはなかった。4この言に命があった。そしてこの命は人の光であった。5光はやみの中に輝いている。そして、やみはこれに勝たなかった・・・。
・・・14そして言は肉体となり、わたしたちのうちに宿った。わたしたちはその栄光を見た。それは父のひとり子としての栄光であって、めぐみとまこととに満ちていた（ヨハネ１章１節－１４節）。
神様は言葉によってこの世界を創造されました。まさしく「創世記一章」に記されていますように「光あれ」という言葉と共にこの世界は始まったのです。神の言葉によって始まった世界、そしてそこに住み、増え広がる人間に対して神は言葉を語り続けました。その言葉は真理であり、そこには命があり、その命は私達の光となりました。
さらに驚くべきことにこの言葉は肉となり、私達の世界に宿りました。それがイエス・キリストです。そして、ヨハネはこのキリストは「恵み」と「まこと」とに満ちていたというのです。先に読みましたヨハネ第二の手紙の４つの「真理」という言葉はアルセイアというギリシア語です。そして、ここで記されている「まこと」も言語を見ますとアルセイアである「真理」を意味しているのです。ヨハネはここでキリストは恵みに、すなわち愛だけで満ちていたとは言っていません。そうではなく、まこと、すなわち真理にも満ちていたというのです。イエス様をいつも間近に見ていたヨハネはイエス様の内に「愛」と共に「真理」をいつも見出していたのです。なぜなら、この真理というのはイエス様を形容するような言葉ではなく、イエス様はかつて「わたしは道であり、真理であり、命である。だれでもわたしによらないでは、父のみもとに行くことはできない」（ヨハネ１４章６節）と言うことにより、ご自身そのものが真理なのだと言われていたからです。
クリスチャンであるということはキリストの愛に生かされ、その愛に生きることに招かれているということです。しかし、時々、悩むことがないでしょうか。「このことはおかしい」、「このままいけばその人も周りの人も行き詰まり、取り返しのつかないことになってしまう」。しかし、そのことを言ってしまうということは、そのことに追随しないということは、その人を傷つけるし、それはキリストの愛に従っていないのだろうと自分を責めることになります。

先に言葉に命があり、言葉は人の光であり、この言葉が肉体となられたというヨハネの福音書の言葉を読みました。ヨハネはその言葉についてイエス様の言葉をこう記録しています。31イエスは自分を信じたユダヤ人たちに言われた、「もしわたしの言葉のうちにとどまっておるなら、あなたがたは、ほんとうにわたしの弟子なのである。32また真理を知るであろう。そして真理は、あなたがたに自由を得させるであろう」（ヨハネ８章３１節－３２節）。
なんとキリストの言葉は真実でしょう、確かに私達が真理に背を向ける時に私達の心には自由がないのです。イエス様は「なんでもいいよという愛」を伝えるためにきたのではないのです。否、それはもはや愛と呼べるようなものではないのです。キリストはご自身、愛と真理なるお方として、それに生き、それを伝えたのです。
これらのことを調べていきます時に、このキリストの内にある愛と真理を理解していたのはヨハネだけではなく、パウロもしっかりとそれを受け止めていたことに気がつきます。愛とは何かということを書き連ねた、あの有名な愛の賛歌、コリント第一の手紙１３章において彼は愛について語っているのです。4愛は寛容であり、愛は情深い。また、ねたむことをしない。愛は高ぶらない、誇らない、5不作法をしない、自分の利益を求めない、いらだたない、恨みをいだかない。6不義を喜ばないで真理を喜ぶ。7そして、すべてを忍び、すべてを信じ、すべてを望み、すべてを耐える（コリント第一の手紙１３章４節－７節）。
愛は不義を喜ばないで真理を喜ぶ。そうです、真理を喜ぶことはまた愛だとパウロは言ったのです。
イエス様がもし言うべきことを言わなければ、すべきことをしなければ、イエス様はユダ社会に受け入れられたことでしょう。律法学者やパリサイ人が期待する言動をしていれば、聴衆が聞きたいことだけを話していれば、十字架にかかることはなく、そればかりか、地位と名誉が与えられたことでしょう。しかし、それはイエス様のまことに反していたのです。そして、それはイエス様の愛に反していたのです。ですから、イエス様はそのまことを貫かれたのです。
先々週も見てまいりましたようにヨハネは「よく見る人」でした。常にイエス様の側におり、その言動を目に焼き付けるようにして観察しました。すなわち、幼子の頭に手を置いたり、遊女や取税人と共に過ごすイエス様を見、同時にあまりにも率直にものを言うイエス様の姿をも彼は垣間見たのです。そのどちらもイエス・キリストの姿だったのです。
皆さん、今日はイエス様とはどんなお方であったかということをお話ししました。このお方は「愛」と「真理」に満ちたお方です。私達はイエスは愛なるお方であるということならよく知っています。しかし、このお方が真理に従って生きたということはあまり考えません。そして、この事実は私達に大きなチャレンジを与えます。自分が愛と思っていたことが、実はキリストの言っていた愛だったのか。そこにキリストにある真理はあったのかと問われるからです。もう一度、私達は己が日々の生活の中にこのキリストの視点を取り戻しましょう。私達は真理に生きるということも、すなわち愛であるということに気がつかされていくことでしょう。
2 John: Truth is always along with LOVE

We have been focused one book from the Bible every Sunday since January 2012, and now we have only four books left which is second and third letter of John, the book of Jude and Revelation. Let us read first 6 verses of second letter of John, the most shortest book in the Bible.
To the lady chosen by God and to her children, whom I love in the truth—and not I only, but also all who know the truth— 2 because of the truth, which lives in us and will be with us forever:3 Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father’s Son, will be with us in truth and love.4 It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us. 5 And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another.6 And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love (2 John 1;1-6).
We had seen the first letter of John last Sunday and mentioned the life of John. He was called The Son of Thunder, but he had changed to the apostle of Love. He was changed because he found the real love on the cross of Jesus. The love changed his character and his life.
John’s second letter has only 13 verses, but we count five loves in first six verses. Again, John is still apostle of love, but he also wrote these things following verse 6.
7 I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist. 8 Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. 9 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take them into your house or welcome them. 11 Anyone who welcomes them shares in their wicked work.
We feel discomfort about these strict words because We have been seeing John as an apostle of love, and He also wrote like this in the second letter.
5 I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another.6 And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love (2 John 1:5-6).
Brothers and sisters, how can these words live together? One recommend love one another and just soon after that John recommend very strict attitude we should have. It seems like no love at all in there. How can we deal with these two suggestions?
Let us read carefully the letter of 2 John again, and then we find the certain word along with love. The word is truth, and the word was written 4 times in first 6 verses along with 5 times of love.
As I read the letter of John this time, I found new thing which I did not think about before. We know the child of Thunder changed to the apostle of love, and we say the message of the Bible is love. We say God is love and Jesus showed the love to the world through him. These are all correct, but John always put the truth beside the love. That is not his original thought and idea but that is his assurance given by Jesus himself.
John begin with the gospel of John like this;1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it…. ….14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of graceand truth.
God created this world with His words. Our world began with “Let there be light”, and God kept speaking to the people and John said the words is truth, and the truth has life, and the life became the light of the world.
And surprisingly the words became fresh and that is Jesus Christ, and then The Christ is full of grace and truth. The truth in 2 john is ALSEIA in GREEK and the truth in this John 14 is also ALSEIA. John did not say Jesus is full of grace and love but he said Jesus was full of grace and truth. When John had been observing Jesus words and deeds, he always found his love and truth in him. The truth is not the adjective for Jesus, but Jesus is the truth like he said “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
We, Christian lives in the love of Christ and also invited to live with His love, but do we sometime have struggle such like this? We think this is wrong, if this will be continue, it is going to be big problem and hard to recover, but if we point that wrongness and do not follow such things, we know we hurt the person and we also blame ourselves because we do not follow the love of Christ.
When we stand the truth, we make conflict sometime and it will become our burden. Somebody might hurt and also we hurt. We want to avoid that as possible as we can, and sometime we think that is love.
But when we put our hand on our heart, we find the thought is not love at all. We worry what the other think about us and afraid to be talk back. We try to protect ourselves. At that time , we are not living with love and truth of Christ.
We mentioned the words has life, and the word is our light and the words became fresh. John quoted the words which Jesus spoke; 31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
What a truthful word Jesus teach! If we do not follow the truth, surely, we do not have freedom in our heart. Jesus did not come for show us the love which allow anything and that is not we call love anymore. Jesus is the love and truth and he actually lived with both of it.
This is not only John’s understanding about the love and truth of Jesus but Paul is also knew it. He mentioned the famous 1 Corinthians chapter 13. 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

If Jesus did not say what he should say or if he did not do what he supposed to do, he was accepted among Jews. If Jesus only spoke and follow the expectation of Pharisee and rabbi, he did not crucified and he would given the status and honor but it is against the way of Jesus. Jesus kept the truth.
As we looked last Sunday, John was the person who really observed. He always near Jesus and observed his words and deeds. He saw Jesus put his hand on children and spent time with prostitutes and tax collectors, and also John saw Jesus who honestly speak up to any people because that is truth. John observed these two things in Jesus.
Brothers and sisters, We looked at what Jesus is like. He is full of love and truth. We know Jesus is love, but sometime we miss to know he is also the truth, and the fact gives us challenge. We are asked what we think is this love is really love? Is there a truth there? Let us recover this viewpoint of Christ in our life. We will know to live with truth is also love in Christ. Let us pray.

４）誰かの過ちを指摘しないということは愛でしょうか。なぜまことを通す時に摩擦が生じるのですか。なぜ、それはしんどいのですか。
５）コリント第一の手紙１３章４節－７節を読みましょう。なぜ「愛」は「不義を喜ばないで真理を喜ぶ」のですか。どんな例がありますか。
６）ヨハネ８章３１節－３２節を読みましょう。ここで真理はどのように知ることができると書かれていますか。ここに記されている「自由」とはどんな自由を指しているのでしょうか。
