振り返れば私の人生は教会と共にありました。教会に住み、教会の中で育ちました。その教会でどれだけの人間に出会ったか分かりません。目を閉じれば、多くの顔が思い浮かびます。
教会によって学んだことは多くあります。教会で私は人間とはなんと素晴らしいのだろうということを学びました。同時に人間はなんと弱いのかということを学びました。教会で私は人が救われるということはこんなにすごいことなのだと知りました。同じように教会で人が救われるということはどういうことなのだろうと悩みました。教会で神様は祈りを確かにきいてくださるということを知りました。教会で神様は私達に待つことを知らせ、自分の祈り願った以外の道があることを教えてくださいました。教会に集う兄弟姉妹と共に、その私達に関わってくださる神様の御心の深さ、広さ、長さを今も目の当たりにし、学んでいます。それは文字通り、とても深く、広く、長く、弱さの中に、不信仰の中にでさえ、人知を超えたはたらきをなし、それを益としてくださる神様を今も体験させていただいております。

エペソ：あなたの教会を知っていますか？ ２０１３年５月５日
これから見ていきますエペソ、ピリピ、コロサイ、ピレモンの手紙は全てパウロによって獄中で書かれました。そして今日、見ます「エペソ人への手紙」はその名こそエペソという町の名がつけられていますが、実際には小アジアの諸教会に回覧された手紙であったといわれています。
英国のウェストミンスター教会の牧師であったマーチン・ロイドジョーンズは、この６章のエペソ人への手紙を２３０回かけて説教しており、１章の１節から１４節の部分だけでも１２回、説教しています。それだけの時間をかけるほどに多くの真理がこの手紙の中には含まれています。
獄中にいたパウロに活動の自由はありませんでしたが、彼の心と頭は自由でした。そして、それに加えて時間がたっぷりありました。これは彼にとって祝福となりました。もし、彼が外の世界で宣教に従事していたのなら、ゆっくりと継続的に祈り、考える時間を持つことは難しかったかもしれません。しかし、彼は鉄格子の中でじっくりと黙想しました。主はその大きなご計画の中で、誰にも邪魔されない時間を彼に与えたのでしょう。キリストにあるのなら、マイナスに思えることが思いがけないプラスとなります。
パウロ自身もそのことをよく理解していたのでしょう。彼はこのエペソ書の中でこういっています『だから、あなたがたのためにわたしが受けている患難を見て、落胆しないでいてもらいたい。わたしの患難はあなたがたの光栄なのである』（エペソ３章１３節）その時、彼の心の中に神様はある課題を与えられました。それは「教会」という課題です。パウロはこのことについてじっくりと祈り、考えなければなりませんでした。この「教会」にこれからのクリスチャニティーがかかっていたからです。
イエス・キリストは既にパウロと共に活動する、目に見える姿として彼と共にはいませんでした。しかし、イエス様が残された言動は彼と共に歩んだ者達の心に残り、それらを直にパウロはキリストの弟子達から聞いたことでしょうし、それらは文書として記録されつつありました。彼は獄中でそれらのことを思い返しつつ、教会ということを考え、このエペソへの手紙を書き始めました。イエスなき後、このイエスを救い主として信じる者達はどのようにその信仰を守っていくのか。イエス・キリストがかつてその愛弟子ペテロに言われていた言葉がありました。パウロはその出来事と言葉をきっとペテロから直接聞いて、何度も思い巡らしていたことでしょう。
13イエスがピリポ・カイザリヤの地方に行かれたとき、弟子たちに尋ねて言われた、「人々は人の子をだれと言っているか」。14彼らは言った、「ある人々はバプテスマのヨハネだと言っています。しかし、ほかの人たちは、エリヤだと言い、また、エレミヤあるいは預言者のひとりだ、と言っている者もあります」。15そこでイエスは彼らに言われた、「それでは、あなたがたはわたしをだれと言うか」。16シモン・ペテロが答えて言った、「あなたこそ、生ける神の子キリストです」。17すると、イエスは彼にむかって言われた、「バルヨナ・シモン、あなたはさいわいである。あなたにこの事をあらわしたのは、血肉ではなく、天にいますわたしの父である。18そこで、わたしもあなたに言う。あなたはペテロである。そして、わたしはこの岩の上にわたしの教会を建てよう。黄泉の力もそれに打ち勝つことはない。19わたしは、あなたに天国のかぎを授けよう。そして、あなたが地上でつなぐことは、天でもつながれ、あなたが地上で解くことは天でも解かれるであろう」。
パウロがキリストのこの言葉を思うことによって理解することはキリスト御自身が教会というものをこの地に建てるということであり、その教会には天国の鍵が授けられており、その教会は死の力によっても打ち負かすことはできないものなのだということです。この言葉は今日、私達の教会の玄関前の石に刻まれており、その下には私達の教会の土台となります日英両語の聖書が埋められています。
パウロはこのキリストの言葉を心に留めつつ、実際にこれまでお話してきましたように、キリストが言われていた教会をあちらこちらに開拓し、その教会を中心とした宣教活動をしました。ゆえにパウロが獄中で考えていたことは、キリストが「この岩の上に教会を建てよう」と言われたその教会とはいったい何であるのかということであり、その教会に神は何を期待しているのかということでした。そんな彼に神様は教会について示されました。彼はそのことを彼が受けた奥義としてこのエペソ書に書き記しています。
『1こういうわけで、あなたがた異邦人のためにキリスト・イエスの囚人となっているこのパウロ―2わたしがあなたがたのために神から賜わった恵みの務について、あなたがたはたしかに聞いたであろう。3すなわち、すでに簡単に書きおくったように、わたしは啓示によって奥義を知らされたのである。4あなたがたはそれを読めば、キリストの奥義をわたしがどう理解しているかがわかる。5この奥義は、いまは、御霊によって彼の聖なる使徒たちと預言者たちとに啓示されているが、前の時代には、人の子らに対して、そのように知らされてはいなかったのである。6それは、異邦人が、福音によりキリスト・イエスにあって、わたしたちと共に神の国をつぐ者となり、共に一つのからだとなり、共に約束にあずかる者となることである。7わたしは、神の力がわたしに働いて、自分に与えられた神の恵みの賜物により、福音の僕とされたのである。8すなわち、聖徒たちのうちで最も小さい者であるわたしにこの恵みが与えられたが、それは、キリストの無尽蔵の富を異邦人に宣べ伝え、9更にまた、万物の造り主である神の中に世々隠されていた奥義にあずかる務がどんなものであるかを、明らかに示すためである。10それは今、天上にあるもろもろの支配や権威が、教会をとおして、神の多種多様な知恵を知るに至るためであって、11わたしたちの主キリスト・イエスにあって実現された神の永遠の目的にそうものである（エペソ３章１節－11節）。
「奥義」とはパッと見て分かるようなものではなく、しかし、その深いところに確かにある最も大切なことです。注意深く読まなければ分かりづらいところですが、パウロが神様から受けた奥義というのは、まずキリストの無尽蔵の富がユダヤ人のみならず、異邦人、すなわち私達のような日本人にまでおよび、私達もこの世界に住むいかなる人達と共にキリストにあって一つのからだとなるということ、そして、今や天上にあるもろもろの支配や権威が教会をとおして、神の多種多様な知恵を知るに至るのだということであり、それは私達の主キリスト・イエスにあって実現された神の永遠の目的にそうものであるというのです。そして、これと同じようなことをこの後すぐにもパウロは書いています。
14こういうわけで、わたしはひざをかがめて、15天上にあり地上にあって「父」と呼ばれているあらゆるものの源なる父に祈る。16どうか父が、その栄光の富にしたがい、御霊により、力をもってあなたがたの内なる人を強くして下さるように、17また、信仰によって、キリストがあなたがたの心のうちに住み、あなたがたが愛に根ざし愛を基として生活することにより、18すべての聖徒と共に、その広さ、長さ、高さ、深さを理解することができ、19また人知をはるかに越えたキリストの愛を知って、神に満ちているもののすべてをもって、あなたがたが満たされるように、と祈る。20どうか、わたしたちのうちに働く力によって、わたしたちが求めまた思うところのいっさいを、はるかに越えてかなえて下さることができるかたに、21教会により、また、キリスト・イエスによって、栄光が世々限りなくあるように、アァメン（エペソ3章１４節－２１節）。
パウロが神様によって知らされた奥義とは、教会を通して私達が神様の多種多様な知恵を知るにいたることであり、私達が愛に根ざした生活をすることにより、全ての兄弟姉妹と共に神の栄光の富の広さ、長さ、高さ、深さを理解することができるようにということです。
サンディエゴ湾には空母、ミッドウエイが博物館として停泊しています。その勇壮な姿はその前の道を通ることによって仰ぐことができます。しかし、実際に空母の大きさを知るためには、その広さ、長さ、高さを知るためにはその中に入り、実際に狭い通路を歩きまわり、船内の急な階段を上り下りし、そして甲板に出て端から端まで歩いてみて初めて分かります。

これらのことを通して、今、確信することはこの教会を通して、私はそこに集う兄弟姉妹と共に神の多種多様な知恵を知り、神が私達に与えてくださる栄光の富の広さ、長さ、高さ、深さを理解させていただくのだということです。教会に行かずとも聖書を通して私達はその知識を増やし、「神様について」知ることは出来ると思います。しかし、教会なくして私達は神様が与えてくださる多種多様な知恵や神様の栄光の富の深さ、広さ、長さ、高さを知ることはできないということは真実だと思います。パウロが言ったところのキリストの奥義というものは、皆さん、何を隠そうこの教会の中にあるのです。
パウロはエペソ書においてさらに踏み込んで教会についてこう書いています。11そして彼は、ある人を使徒とし、ある人を預言者とし、ある人を伝道者とし、ある人を牧師、教師として、お立てになった。12それは、聖徒たちをととのえて奉仕のわざをさせ、キリストのからだを建てさせ、13わたしたちすべての者が、神の子を信じる信仰の一致と彼を知る知識の一致とに到達し、全き人となり、ついに、キリストの満ちみちた徳の高さにまで至るためである。（エペソ４章１１節－１３節）。
思えば不思議なものです。教会の裏表を見続けた者が牧師となりました。そこには多くの労苦と痛みと悲しみがあることを知りつつも、それ以上の報いと癒しと喜びが教会にはあることを知っているからです。牧師として年月を送りながら、私もパウロと同じようにこの教会とは何なのかということを自ら問うようになり、今も問い続けています。その中で自分は牧師として何をすべきなのか、何に集中すべきなのかを悩み、考えています。そして、そのような中で見出した一つの指針が、今、読みましたエペソ書の言葉の中に集約されています。
すなわち、自分の役目は12それは、聖徒たちをととのえて奉仕のわざをさせ、キリストのからだを建てさせ、13わたしたちすべての者が、神の子を信じる信仰の一致と彼を知る知識の一致とに到達し、全き人となり、ついに、キリストの満ちみちた徳の高さにまで至るためである。
まず聖徒達をととのえること。英語では「Equip」と書かれています。それは整える、準備する、養うという意味があります。そして、私達すべての者が、神の子を信じる信仰の一致と彼を知る知識の一致とに到達し、全き人となり、ついにキリストの満ち満ちた徳の高さにまでいたることです。
まさしく、これこそが私が生涯を捧げていることなのだと確信しています。このサンディエゴ教会において、私たち一人一人が神の愛と恵みがどんなに大きなものであるのかということを知り、それを知った者がその愛にこたえて、どのような生き方をするようになるのか、キリストのからだなる教会で、その神の愛と恵みにどのように応答して、このからだを建てあげ、教会に集う私達の間に３０パーセントでも７０パーセントではない、全ての人がキリストを信じる信仰の一致と彼を知る知識の一致、すなわち、キリストとはいかなるお方であるのかという共通理解を得、そのキリストに対する思いを一つにし、少しでもそのキリストの満ち満ちた徳の高さにまでいたることに努めるのです。このことの成就は並大抵のことではなく、きっとこのことを目指す旅半ばで自分の人生は終わり、次の人たちに引き継ぐのだと思います。
皆さん、教会を建て上げるというのは大変なことです。国と国の間で戦争になりましたら、どの国も敵国の基地をまず攻撃するでしょう。サタンが攻撃の対象とするのは常に教会であり、そこに属する者達です。しかし、この教会はその攻撃に屈しません。イエス様が約束されたように黄泉の力でさえも、この教会を揺り動かすことができません。イエス様ご自身が私達と共にいるからです。
このエペソ書においてパウロは教会に対する自らの決意について、その根拠となる言葉を書き記しています。それは夫と妻に関して書かれた言葉の中にあります。エペソ書５章２５節『夫たる者よ。キリストが教会を愛してそのためにご自身を捧げられたように、妻を愛しなさい』
ここで夫は妻を愛しなさいと言われています。そして、その模範が記されています。その規範は週刊誌に書かれているようにとか、あの夫婦のようにというのでもなく『キリストが教会を愛してそのためにご自身を捧げられたように』です。この言葉を私達に当てはめますのなら、キリストはサンディエゴ教会を愛して、そのためにご自身を捧げられたということです。
私達がこの教会に仕えるということの根拠は全てこの一言に凝縮されます。仲良しの人がいるから、居心地がいいから、時に私達は教会をそのように見ます。しかし、それは別の言い方をすれば、仲良しの人がいなくなったら、居心地が悪くなったら、私達はいつでもこの教会を去るということです。まさしく、とても残念なことですが、それはこの教会を通して私達に与えられるキリストの栄光の富の深さ、広さ、高さにいたらずに、狭く、浅くしか教会を受け止めることができなかったからです。
しかし、私達は知ります。「主は全く不完全な教会をご自身を捧げるほどに愛された」。私達の教会生活は常にこの言葉を自らの心に問いかけることによってなされていきます。このキリストの教会に対する思いを全ての兄弟姉妹が共有することができるように、そのことがどんなに大変なことであるかお分かりかと思います。しかし、同時にこれほどにやりがいのあることはないのです。
皆さんにとってサンディエゴ日本人教会は何なのでしょうか。この教会に対して主がもっておられる思いとは何なのでしょうか。この教会をとおして私達は神の栄光の富の広さ、高さ、深さを知り、この教会をとおして私達は神の多種多様な知恵を悟り、この教会で私達はすべての者達が神の子を信じる信仰の一致と彼を知る知識の一致に到り、キリストの満ちみちた徳の高さにまで至ることを目指しているのです。ご自身を捧げられるほどにこの教会を愛してくださっている主の心を己が心として、私達はこれからもこの教会に集ってくるのです。お祈りしましょう。
“ Do you know your
church?” Ephesians May 5, 2013
From today, we will be
looking at the letters of Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon. They were all written by Paul
while he was in prison. Ephesians, which we are reading today, comes from the name of the town of Ephesus. It is said that this letter was
circulated to the churches of Asia Minor.
Martin Lloyd Jones was the pastor of Westminster Church in the UK. He has
preached over 230 times on the letter to the Ephesians, which
has 6 chapters. He has preached more than
12 times on just verses 1 to 14, of Chapter 1. It is worth studying many times because so many truths are hidden inside this letter.
When Paul was in prison, he had no freedom to do activities, but his head and his heart were free. In addition, he had plenty of time. This was a blessing for
him. If he had engaged in missions in the
outside world, it might have been difficult to pray continuously and to have time to think deeply. However, he spent a great deal of time thinking behind
bars. In the Lord’s plan, He gave Paul
this precious time in which he was not disturbed by anyone. In Christ, what seems to be a nagative thing,
unexpectedly becomes a positive thing.
Paul himself would have understood it.
"I ask you therefore, not to be discouraged because of my sufferings for
you, which are your glory. "(Ephesians Chapter 3
verse 13)
At that time God gave Paul a challenge in his heart. It is the challenge of "The Church". Paul needed time to pray and think carefully about this.
Because,
the "Church" could become a hope and a foundation for the future of Christianity.
Jesus Christ was not a visible figure working
with Paul.
However, the
actions and words of Jesus Christ remained in the minds of those who walked with Him. Paul would have heard directly from the disciples of Jesus, and Jesus’s words and his behavior had
been recorded
as documents. While recalling those things in prison, Paul began writing a letter to the
Ephesians. He wrote how a person who
had believed in Jesus as Savior could maintain or keep his faith afterwards, even after Jesus was gone. There were words that Jesus
once spoke to the disciple
Peter. Paul would have heard the words directly from Peter and he was thinking about it many times.
When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples,
“Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still
others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered,
“You are the Christ. The Son of the living God.”
Jesus replied, “Blessed are you. Simon son of Jonah, for this was not
revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are
Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not
overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven : whatever you
bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be
loosed in heaven.( Matthew chapter 16: Vs 13 ~19)
Paul understood this by thinking over these words of
Christ. Jesus said He Himself would build the Church
in this land, that the key of heaven has bestowed to the church, the church has
the power that even the death cannot overcome. This Bible passage is carved in
the stone in front of the entrance of our church in both Japanese and English. The Bible is the the foundation of our church,
and so a Bible in English and in Japanese have actually been buried under that
stone.
While bearing these words of Christ in his mind, Paul put
all his efforts into developing churches in many places, and he did missionary activities based on the church. Therefore, Paul was thinking in prison, what
exactly the church should be according to Jesus. He said, "I will build a
church on this rock" and What God was looking forward to in the
church? God had revealed to Paul about
the meaning of the Church. Paul wrote to the Ephesians about this mystery that
he had received.
3 For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of
Christ Jesus for you Gentiles— 2 if indeed you have heard of
the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to me for you, 3 how
that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written
already, 4 by which, when you read, you may understand my
knowledge in the mystery of Christ), 5 which in other ages was
not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to
His holy apostles and prophets: 6 that the Gentiles should be
fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through
the gospel, 7 of which I became a minister according to the
gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power
8 To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was
given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of
Christ, 9 and to make all see what is the fellowship[a] of the mystery, which
from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things
through Jesus Christ;[b] 10 to the
intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to
the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, 11 according
to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord,(Ephesian
chapter 3 Vs. 1~11)
This "mystery" is not something you can
understand easily, but it is the most
important thing that certainly exists in one’s being. It is not easy to
understand if you do not read it carefully. But the mystery that Paul was given
by God is an inexhaustible wealth of Christ which reaches not only to the Jews,
but also to the Gentiles, even to the Japanese like us, and it says that we
become one body in Christ, with any
people who live in this world. It also says that the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by
the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, 11 according
to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, And, Paul
is writing same as like this.
14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from
whom every family[a] in heaven and on earth
derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he
may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so
that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being
rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together
with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep
is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses
knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or
imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to
him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for
ever and ever! Amen.(Ephesian
Chapter 3 vs:14~21)
The mystery that Paul was told by God, is that we acquire a wide variety of
knowledge of God through the church, and by the life we live in the love of God, we
will be able to understand the breadth, length, height, and depth of God’s glory.
The aircraft carrier, Midway, has been brought to San Diego Bay as a
museum. You can look at this historical
ship by passing by in front of it.
However, in order to know the actual size of the carrier you need to
enter into it. In order to know the
size, length, and height of the carrier, you need to walk across the narrow
ramp onto the ship. Actually, you need
to climb up and down the steep stairs on board.
Then you will realize for the first time how large this aircraft carrier
really is.
The church is the same.
When I look back at my life, I
realize that the church has always been with me. I lived in the church, I grew up in the church.
I do not know how many people I met in the church. When I close my eyes, many faces of church
people come to my mind.
There are many things I've learned through the church. In church, I learned how
great man is. At the same time, in the
church I learned how fragile man is. I am
amazed how great it is that people would be saved in the church. I have been troubled by what it means that
people would be saved in a church. I
learned that God certainly hears the prayers in the church. In the church, God teaches us that there are
times for us to wait. In the church, God
teaches us that there is another way than the way we are hoping and
praying. Along with the brothers and
sisters in church, I am learning of the
depth, length and width and the size of God's mercy and love. Literally, God is so deep, so wide and so
long that even our weakness or our unbelief could become a benefit beyond our
human understanding. Even now, I
experience God’s mercy and love in this way.
Through these things, I am sure that we will know a wide variety of the wisdom
of God along with our brothers and sisters who gather here this church. We will also understand the length, the
width and the height and depth of the
wealth of the glory of God that He gives us through the church.
We might be able to increase our knowledge and to know
about God through the Bible without going to church. However, I think it is
true that we cannot know without church, the depth of the riches of the glory
of God and the wide variety of wisdom that God will give us. The mystery of
Christ which Paul wrote about, is present in the church.
Paul wrote about the church more in Ephesians. 1 So Christ
himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and
teachers, 12 to
equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built
up 13 until we all reach unity in the
faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to
the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (Verse 11 -13 verse Ephesians Chapter 4)
Thinking of myself, I feel it is strange that the person
who has been watching the church from the inside and outside became a pastor.
It is because even though there is much
sadness, pain, and toil in the church, I know that God’s mercy and healing
exceed all of them. I started asking myself as a pastor, “What is the church?”
and I still keep asking myself today. I contemplate what I should do as a
pastor, what should I focus on. And now,
one of the guidelines that I have found is summarized in the words of Ephesians
that I have read.
In other words, my role is, 12 to equip his
people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the
knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure
of the fullness of Christ.
First of all, to equip the saints. The English word “epuip” means to supply, to
furnish, and to provide. Equipping
people to reach unity in the faith, and in the knowledge of the Son of God, and
become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
I am sure that I want to dedicate my life to this purpose. My role is to have
everybody in this church know how great God’s mercy is. Then, to know how they should live their lives in response
to God’s mercy. Every single person in church, not 30 percent, nor 70 percent
of them, but all of them, will be able to have a mutual understanding of who Jesus
Christ is. We will all reach unity in the faith and in
the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole
measure of the fullness of Christ.
I think it is not that easy of a task. My life will
probably end mid-journey to the fulfillment of these things and will be taken
over by people who follow after me.
Ladies and gentlman,
It is a hard task to build up the church. If a war begins between two
countries, the first thing one country does is to attack the facilities of its enemy’s
base. In a similar way, Satan’s target
of attack is always the church and the people who belong to it. But the church
will never succumb to the attack of Satan. But as Jesus promised, even the
power of Hades cannot destroy the church. Jesus Christ is always with us. Paul has written the words that are the basis
of his decision in Ephesians. We can find this in the words written about a
husband and wife. Chapter 5 verse 25 in Ephesians says,
"25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave
himself up for her.
It is said that a husband must love his wife. Then, the
model for marriage is written here. This model is not like the ones described
in the weekly tabloid magazines, but is,
"as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her" . If
this applies to our church, Jesus Christ loves the San Diego Japanese Christian
Church, and gave himself up for it.
The reason that we serve this church is condensed into this passage. Sometimes we think of our church as the place
where we can hang out with our friends or where we feel comfortable.
In another words, if there are no longer good friends in
the church, or if we don’t feel comfortable anymore, then we may leave the
church at any time. It would be a shame, but that's because we could not reach
the depth, the heights and the width of the riches of the glory of Christ that
was given to us through this church. We do not interpret the glory of God
accurately.
However, we know that Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.
We need to keep
reminding ourselves. It is very
challenging for the brothers and sisters
in the church to have a common understanding of Jesus’s plan for the church. It is challenging but it is a very meaningful
and rewarding task no matter how hard it is.
What does the San Diego Japanese Christian church mean to
you? And what is God’s plan for our church ?
Our aim is that all of us will realize the width, the
height and the depth of wealth of
the glory of God. we will realize a manifold wisdom of God
through this church. As the Bible says “
the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the
faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to
the whole measure of the fullness of Christ

５）エペソ４章１１節－１３節を読みましょう。ここから私たちの教会の目的は「わたしたちすべての者が、神の子を信じる信仰の一致と彼を知る知識の一致とに到達し、全き人となり、ついに、キリストの満ちみちた徳の高さにまで至るためである（１３節）であることがわかります。この言葉は具体的に私たちが教会においてどうあるべきかということを示していますか。
６）エペソ書５章２５節には『夫たる者よ。キリストが教会を愛してそのためにご自身を捧げられたように、妻を愛しなさい』と書かれています。イエス様が教会のためにご自身を捧げられたということが分かる時に、私たちの教会へのあり方ということがどのように変わりますか。教会はないがしろにできるものなのでしょうか。
