時に人は恐れ、罪悪感、物、人の目などによってその言動が突き動かされることがありますが、あなたはいかがですか。このことを確認してから、新しい年を歩み始めませんか。

あなたを突き動かしているものは何ですか？

明けましておめでとうございます。
ある人が新年に神様にお祈りを捧げました。神様、今のところ、なんとかがんばっています。今のところ、人のうわさ話もせず、怒ることもせず、欲張ったり、機嫌を損ねたり、いじわるをしたり、わがままだったり、甘えすぎたりしていません。本当にそのことでは感謝しています。でも、あと数分で私は寝床から出ます。そうしたらそこからはたくさんの助けが必要になります。
今、皆さんは床から起きて、礼拝堂の椅子に座っています（まだ大丈夫ですか？）。皆さんの中で今日の午後三時までそのまま、その椅子に座っていようと思っている方いますか。今年の春まで、夏まで、秋までじっとそこに座っていようという方いますか。いいえ、皆さんはそこから立ちあがって、各々願うところに向かいます。この礼拝の後、皆さんはそこから立ちあがり、それぞれ望まれる所へと向かわれることでしょう。なぜ、そうするのでしょうか。皆さんの心には思いがあって、その思いに動かされて、その椅子から立ち上がるからです。そして、その私達を突き動かす思いが新しい一年の私達を突き動かすのです（皆さんは既にベッドから出ていることをお忘れなく！）。そこで、今日はその私達を突き動かすものについて幾つかの点検をしたく願っております。
椅子に座っている皆さんを立ち上がらせる方法があります。「そこをどかないとひどいめにあうよ」と言うと人は動きます。そうです。恐れが私達を動かすのです。
私たちはこの世にあってなんと多くの恐れを持っていることでしょうか。あるものは現実的ですが、中には想像上の恐れもあります。いずれにしても人間は恐れに支配されやすいものなのです。聖書の中にはイエス様が何度も恐れるなと言われたことが記されています。なぜなら、神の子イエスはいかなる人の表情の中にも恐れを見てとったからです。
そして、この恐れは私達を突き動かします。イエス様が生まれたというニュースはヘロデ王を恐れさせました。
イエスがヘロデ王の時代にユダヤのベツレヘムでお生まれになった時、見よ、東方の博士たちがエルサレムにやってきて、こう言った、「ユダヤ人の王としてお生まれになった方はどこにおいでいになりますか。私達は東のほうでその方の星を見たので拝みにまいりました」。それを聞いて、ヘロデ王は恐れ惑った。エルサレム中の人も王と同様であった（マタイ２章１節ー３節 新改訳聖書）
恐れに突き動かされたヘロデは何をしたのでしょうか。彼はベツレヘムにいる幼児の殺害を画策しました。恐れが彼を突き動かし、その恐れは彼に最悪のことを起こさせました。
椅子に座っている皆さんを立ち上がらせる方法があります。「あなたはそこに座る資格などないはずです。あなたには償わなければならないことがたくさんあるのですから」。そうです。罪の責めにより、私達はそこから立ち上がります。
私たちの心にもし罪責感というものがありますのなら、そのことに対する後悔と恥ずかしさ、そして、時にその償いに駆り立てられて私達は生きます。このことは私達を色々な言動へと導きます。すなわち、自分を飾ったり、強く見せることによって、その後ろめたさをごまかしたり、自分自身を罰しなければならないという思いから、自らがあえて不幸になる道を選び、時には自分で自分の心と体を罰するのです。「何もそんなに自分を苦しめる生き方を選択しなくてもいいではないか！」と思うほどに自分の生活を窮地に向かわせてしまう方がいますが、その人は自分を台無しにすることにより、無意識のうちに自分の罪に罰を与えているのかもしれません。
イエス・キリストの１２弟子の一人であったユダはイエスを売り渡しました。しかし、後になり、そのことを悔いたのです。
3そのとき、イエスを裏切ったユダは、イエスが罪に定められたのを見て後悔し、銀貨三十枚を祭司長、長老たちに返して4言った、「わたしは罪のない人の血を売るようなことをして、罪を犯しました」。しかし彼らは言った、「それは、われわれの知ったことか。自分で始末するがよい」。5そこで、彼は銀貨を聖所に投げ込んで出て行き、首をつって死んだ（マタイ２７章３節－５節）。
彼は己の犯した罪を知っていました。彼はその自分に絶望し、その罪の償いとして、自らの命を失いました。罪の責めは時に私達から命を奪うのです。
椅子に座っている皆さんを立ち上がらせる方法があります。「そこに座っていていいのですか。今、外であなたが欲しがっているテレビが破格で売られていますよ」そうです。物質によってわたしたちはそこから立ち上がります。
説明するまでもない、これは私たち現代社会に蔓延しているものです。より多く何かを所有することで、より幸せになり、偉くなり、安定するだろうという現代の神話です。これらのものは私達を興奮させますが、これらのものにより私達が満足することは決してありません。
かつて自分が願うものを全て手に入れた王がイスラエルにいました。彼は言いました。7わたしはまた、わたしより先にエルサレムにいただれよりも多くの牛や羊の財産を持っていた。9こうして、わたしは大いなる者となり、わたしより先にエルサレムにいたすべての者よりも、大いなる者となった。11そこで、わたしはわが手のなしたすべての事、およびそれをなすに要した労苦を顧みたとき、見よ、皆、空であって、風を捕えるようなものであった。日の下には益となるものはないのである（伝道の書２章７節、９節、１１節
ことの問題は物は決して私達の心に喜びと平安を与えるものではないということです。 人生の最後にこのことに気がつくのか、いつ気がつくのか、それはとても大切なことです。
椅子に座っている皆さんを立ち上がらせる方法があります。「皆が立っているのに、あなただけが座っているのですか」。そうです、私達は人の目により、そこから立ち上がります。
イエス様が捕われた時にその裁きの座についていたのはピラトでした。ピラトは状況を把握して、自らのジャッジをすべきでした。当初、彼はイエス様を許そうとしていました。
２３ところが、彼らは大声をあげて詰め寄り、イエスを十字架につけるように要求した。そして、その声が勝った。２４ピラトはついに彼らの願いどおりにすることに決定した。（ルカ２３章２３節、２４節）。
マルコはこの時のことを「群衆を満足させようと思って、バラバをゆるしてやり、イエスをむち打ったのち、十字架につけるために引きわたした」（マルコ１５：１５）と記しています。
彼の心には定まった思いがあったのですが、彼はその思いを捨て、住民の声に従いました。その結末は何ですか、言うまでもない、その結末は群衆を恐れ、自らの信念を変えたピラトによるところのキリストの十字架です。彼は後、二千年間、使徒信条の中にその名前が加えられ、全世界でキリストを十字架にかけた者として唱えられているのです。
皆さん、今日お話しました「恐れ」、「罪の責め」、「物」、「人の目」は時に、これまでの私達を動かしていたものであり、もしかしたら今年一年、私達を突き動かす可能性のあるものです。否、もしかしたら、このことに私はこれまでずっと着き動かされれてきたという方がいるかもしれません。これらのことにより私達は突き動かされ続け、その生涯を終えるかもしれません。そこで提案です。まず、今、お話した五つのことについて聖書が何を言っているのか確認しましょう。
恐れに対して
ヨハネは恐れを消すことができる方法を記しています。『愛には恐れがない。完全な愛は恐れをとり除く』（ヨハネ第一の手紙４章１８節）。「愛」だけが恐れを取り除くことができるのです。
罪の責め に対して
ダビデ王は犯してしまった罪の責めで余生を送るのかというようなところに立たせられた時に、自らの罪を神の前に悔い改めました。その時に、彼は罪の赦しを受けたのです。彼は書いています。
1そのとががゆるされ、その罪がおおい消される者はさいわいである。2主によって不義を負わされず、その霊に偽りのない人はさいわいである。3わたしが自分の罪を言いあらわさなかった時は、ひねもす苦しみうめいたので、わたしの骨はふるび衰えた。4あなたのみ手が昼も夜も、わたしの上に重かったからである。わたしの力は、夏のひでりによってかれるように、かれ果てた。5わたしは自分の罪をあなたに知らせ、自分の不義を隠さなかった。わたしは言った、「わたしのとがを主に告白しよう」と。その時あなたはわたしの犯した罪をゆるされた（詩篇３２篇１節－５節）
「神の赦し」だけが罪の責めを取り除くことができるのです。
物 に対して
私達は物とかけ離れて生きることはできません。しかし、イエス・キリストはこのことについてこう書いています。
「あなたがたは自分のために、虫が食い、さびがつき、また、盗人らが押し入って盗み出すような地上に宝をたくわえてはならない。むしろ、自分のため、虫も食わず、さびもつかず、また、盗人らが、押し入って、盗み出すこともない天に、宝をたくわえなさい。あなたの宝のある所には、心もあるからである。」（マタイによる福音書６章１９節－２１節）
私達の思いが「天の宝」に向けられる時に、物が私達をコントロールする生き方から解放されるのです。
人の目に対して
モーセの後継者、ヨシュアは約束の地、カナンに入り、土地を分画しました。それゆえに彼とイスラエルの生活は安定しました。ゆえにヨシュアはその場所で、これから自分は何を第一にして過ごすのかということを自ら問いました。その中でヨシュアははっきりと自分が立つところを言いました。
15もしあなたがたが主に仕えることを、こころよしとしないのならば、あなたがたの先祖が、川の向こうで仕えた神々でも、または、いまあなたがたの住む地のアモリびとの神々でも、あなたがたの仕える者を、きょう、選びなさい。ただし、わたしとわたしの家とは共に主に仕えます」（ヨシュア２４章１５節）。
「失敗の秘訣を挙げるとすれば、それはすべての人を喜ばせようとすることです」ことです。主イエスも言われました「人は誰も二人の主人に兼ね仕えることはできない」（マタイ６：２４）。ヨシュアは彼の人生に常に真実であった神に仕えることをよしとしたのです。
私達に注がれている「神の真実」を知る時に、それは私達を人の目から解放してくれるのです。なぜなら主こそ私達が第一とすべきお方だからです。
以上、４つのものを見てまいりましたが、言うまでもなく、私はこの四つから好きなものを選んでくださいということで、この四つを取り上げたのではなくて、それで本当にいいのですかということを確認したく、これらをあげたのです。
それでは私達は何に着き動かされて生きるべきでしょうか。そうです、それは私達が既に神様からいただいているものに対しての私達の心からのリスポンスです。そうです、私達が神様からいただいている「愛」、「赦し」、「天の宝」、「真実」に対するリスポンスです。これらを一つの言葉で言い当てるのなら、それは「神の恵み」です。恵みとは受けるに値しないものに惜しみなく与えられるもの、それが恵みであり、その神の恵みこそが私達を突き動かすべきものです。 この恵みによって突き動かされるのなら、私達は無尽蔵の力をいただきます。そこには喜びがあり、感謝があります。
聖書の中の多くの人達は腰を上げ、その所から立ち上がり、神に仕えました。彼らを突き動かしたものは何でしょうか。そうです、それこそが神の恵みなのです。これが全ての私達の言動の原点です。
おそらく使徒パウロは聖書の中で最も大いなるはたらきをした人の一人でしょう。彼はその信仰ゆえに幾度もの試練にあいつつも、何度も何度も席から立ち上がり、キリストを宣ベ伝えました。その原動力は何だったのでしょうか。 彼は聖書の中に１３の手紙を残していますが、その全てがこのような言葉で始まっているのをご存知ですか。
後でパウロが書いた１３の手紙を全て見てみてください。その彼の手紙の冒頭を全てみてください。パウロの手紙は一つ残らず、一つ残らずですよ、その第二文までに必ずこんな言葉で始まるのです。「私達の父なる神と主イエス・キリストから、恵みと平安とが、あなたがたにあるように！」
恵みはパウロ自身がその生涯で神様から受け取った最高のものなので、彼が私たちに望む最高のものも、いつも神の恵みなのです！。そして、その神の恵みこそ、私達を突き動かすべきものであるということをパウロは知っていたのです。
旅行が終り帰宅した後に、私達は旅行中携帯していたバックから全ての物を取り出してバックを空にします。そして、その最後に私はいつもする儀式があります。バックを逆さにして揺するのです。何度も何度も。そうすると、どこそこの店のナプキンやら小銭やら爪楊枝やら色々な物が落ちてきます。
もし、聖書をそのようにふることが出来るならば、そこからは恵みという言葉がジャラジャラ落ちてくることでしょう。
主にある兄弟姉妹、神は私達一人一人に一度の人生を託しているのです。その人生をどう送るかということは私達にかかっているのです。一年、どう過ごしますか。恐れ、罪悪感、物、人の目に支配されて生きますか。よかったら主の恵みに生きませんか。「よかったら」と言いましたのは、それは私が踏み入ることができないことであり、その決断をするのはあなた自身だからです。もし、皆さんの中でこのことで課題があるという方がおりましたら、新しい一年、このことにタックルしてみませんか。もし何かお役に立てることがありましたら、お知らせください。
あなたは何をもって新年、腰をあげますか。あなたを突き動かすものはなにですか。今年、私達は何に突き動かされてキリストの体なる教会に仕えていくのでしょう。それが「神の恵み」であるのなら、私達の人生は、私達の教会はますます祝福されることでしょう。

One man pray to God in the New Year. Dear God, for now, I am doing pretty good so far. I do not rumors of people, I do not get mad, I am not greedy, I do not mean to others and I am not selfish. I really appreciate for this. But now I have to wake up from my bed in a few minutes, and then I really need a lot of your help.
You are now get up from your bed , and sitting on the pew (Are you still ok?). Is there anyone who is going to remain sitting on the pew till 3 pm this afternoon? Or all year, spring, summer, and fall? NO! You will rise from the pew and you all walk towards wherever you want to go. Why? Because we are all driven by some thought within us. These thoughts also drive us this coming year. Please do not forget, you are already out of your bed.So we would like to check a couple of things about the things driving us today.
There is a way that makes you stand from where you are. If you are told “If you do not stand, you will be hurt” You will stand. Yes “Our fear” makes us stand.
We have fear in this world. Some are very realistic, and some might only be our imagination. Sometimes, we are controlled by fear. Many times Jesus says “Do not be afraid” towards the people because he always observed a fearful mind in them.
Fear drives us. The news of Jesus’ birth made King Herod fearful.
For English speaking brothers and sisters when I read the Bible verses in Japanese, the English verses will appear on the screen along with Japanese verses, so please read while I read in Japanese. So we will be able to save our time.
1-2 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem village, Judah territory— this was during Herod’s kingship—a band of scholars arrived in Jerusalem from the East. They asked around, “Where can we find and pay homage to the newborn King of the Jews? We observed a star in the eastern sky that signaled his birth. We’re on pilgrimage to worship him.” 3-4 When word of their inquiry got to Herod, he was terrified—and not Herod alone, but most of Jerusalem as well.(Matthew 2:1-3 The Message).
What did Herod do when driven by fear? He ordered to kill every infant in Bethlehem. Fear drives him to become a cruel murder.
There is a way that will make you stand from where you are. If you are told “You are not worthy to sit there because you have things to pay for your fault. Yes “guilt” makes us stand.
If we have guilt, we regret, feel shameful and try to live for our own redemption. Without doubt, this will lead us to improper words and deeds. Some people may decorate themselves, try to pretend we are tough, betray our feelings and even try to punish ourselves. Sometimes people choose the way that never results in happiness but one that leads to destruction. They may destroy their life and punish themselves.
One of Christ’s disciple, Judah sold Jesus and he regretted what he had done.
3 When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders. 4 “I have sinned,” he said, “for I have betrayed innocent blood.”“What is that to us?” they replied. “That’s your responsibility.”5 So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself (Matthew 27:3-5).
Judah knew what he had done and was disappointed in himself and paid for his sin through death. Brothers and sisters, please remember, guilt took our life.
There is a way that makes you stand from where you are. If you are told “Are you sure you want to be sitting there? I saw an ad of a sale of a TV you wanted” Yes “the material” makes us stand.
This is spread in our society. The myth that when we earn and gain more, we become happier, get more respect and stabilization. These things make us excited for a while but it will never satisfy.
There was a king in Israel who had everything he wanted, he said.
7 I also owned more herds and flocks than anyone in Jerusalem before me. 9 I became greater by far than anyone in Jerusalem before me. In all this my wisdom stayed with me.11 Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 2:7,9,11)
The problem he had was that the things he gained never gave him joy and peace.
Either we realize this truth at the ending stage of our life or find it right now, that is very important for us.
There is a way that makes you stand from where you are. If you are told “Everyone is standing, and you are the only one sitting. Yes “what others think” makes us stand.
When Jesus was captured, Pilate is the one who judged him. He should have judged based on his own thoughts. He tried to forgive Jesus in the beginning.
23 But with loud shouts they insistently demanded that he be crucified, and their shouts prevailed. 24 So Pilate decided to grant their demand. 25 He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, the one they asked for, and surrendered Jesus to their will.(Luke 23:23,24)
Mark mentioned Pilate 15 Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them. He had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified.(Mark 15:15）
Pilate had assurance in his mind he was correct but he did not follow his assurance. Instead he followed what the crowd wished for Jesus. What is the ending of this story? Pilate, fearful of the crowd allowed Jesus to be crucified. Since that time his name was stated in the Apostle’s Creed as a man who crucified Jesus Christ.
What we had heard today, fear, guilt, materials and what others think drive us sometime till today and these things can also drive us this year. We can end our lives driven only by these things. So I have a suggestion here. First of all, let us see what the Bible is saying about these four things.
About our Fear
John mentions the way to drive out fear from us.
18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear. ( 1 John 4:18). Only Love of God can cast our fear away.
About our guilt
When King David suffered through his sins, he repented before God, and he was forgiven. He wrote.
Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.2 Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.3 When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.4 For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer.5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.”And you forgave the guilt of my sin (Psalm 32:1-5)
Only the forgiveness of God can cast away our guilt.
About the materials
We cannot live without materials. Although, Jesus encourages us with these words.
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also (Matthew 6:19-21).
When we focus on the treasures in heaven, we will be released from the control of materials.
For what others think
Joshua is the new leader after Moses. Joshua entered the promise land and divided the land. By his leadership the daily life of Israel became stable. Now Joshua asked himself what is his priority in the new land, and Joshua clearly spoke what he should do.
15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15)
If you want to fail, make everyone happy. Our Lord Jesus said 24 “No one can serve two masters (Matthew 6:24). Joshua decided to serve the Lord because the Lord had been faithful all the time to him and his family.
When we know the faithfulness of God, his faithfulness will give us the freedom from what others think because He is our priority.
I did not mention these four things as just recommendations for you to choose from. I mentioned it to make sure we ask the question, is it ok for your life to be driven by these?
What things should drive our life? That should be our response to what God has given us, is giving us, and will give us. Yes God gives us His 「Love」, 「Forgiveness」, 「Treasures in heaven」, and 「Faithfulness」, and we call all these, His GRACE. Grace is something give to someone unworthy, and the Grace should drives us in our life.
If we are driven by His grace, we will have His power, and the power is boundless. We have joy and gratitude.
Many of God’s people in the Bible stand from where they were sitting and served the Lord. Yes, because they knew God’s grace. This is the reason for our words and deeds.
Probably, the apostle Paul was one of the people who dedicated his life most for Christ. He experienced many trials and hardships because of his faith, he fell many times but he rose every time and spread the words to the world. What is his motive?
Paul wrote 13 letters in the Bible, but did you know in all these 13 letters he began with the same sentence.
You should look at every 13 letters Paul wrote in the Bible. Pay attention to the introduction of all 13 letters, yes every 13 letters even not one exception, Paul wrote; Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
God’s grace is the best gift Paul received from Him, so he always wished the grace upon us. He knew that the Grace should drive us in our life.
When we come back from our travel, we clean up our travel bag. We take everything out from the bag and sometimes we make the back up side down. Yes this is our ritual ceremony after our travel, and things like coins, toothpicks fall out of the bag. You know what I am talking about.
If we shake the Bible like that. What falls from the Bible? Yes, God’s grace will pour out of the Bible.
Dear brothers and sisters, God gives us only one life on this earth. The decisions we make and what we do in this life is up to us. So my question is how are you going to spend your days in 2015? Are you going to live by your fear, the sense of guilt, material or from what others think? Don’t you want to live by God’s grace? If you have issues with what drives you, let us know, we will pray for you and stand before God with you.
What makes you stand from where you are in the new year? This year, what makes you to serve our church which is the body of Christ? If that is God’s grace, our life and our church will be blessed more and more. Let us pray.

８）あなたは神様がこれまでにあなたに与えてくださった恵み、今、あなたに与えてくださっている恵み、これからあなたに与えてくださるであろう恵みについて、応答していますか。それは義務ですか。この応答にはどんな力がありますか。
