最近のバイブルスタディーで聖書、ピリピ１章９節ー１１節を学びました。その時に以下、「The Message MSG」の英語訳と比較してみましたところ、多くのことを教えられました。
『わたしはこう祈る。あなたがたの愛が、深い知識において、するどい感覚において、いよいよ増し加わり、それによって、あなたがたが、何が重要であるかを判別することができ、キリストの日に備えて、純真で責められるところのないものとなり、イエス・キリストによる義の実に満たされて、神の栄光とほまれとをあらわすに至るように』（口語訳）
『So this is my prayer: that your love will flourish and that you will not only love much but well. Learn to love appropriately. You need to use your head and test your feelings so that your love is sincere and intelligent, not sentimental gush. Live a lover’s life, circumspect and exemplary, a life Jesus will be proud of: bountiful in fruits from the soul, making Jesus Christ attractive to all, getting everyone involved in the glory and praise of God.』(The Message MSG)
愛とは「闇雲に何でもかんでも愛する」ということではなく、愛とは「よく愛するもの」であるということ。私達は「ふさわしく愛する」ことを学ばなければならないということ。時に理性をも用いて、自分の感情をよく吟味し、センチメンタルな感情に支配されてはいけないということ。これらのことを学ぶことができたことは、私にとって大きな収穫となりました。
