・・・・・「責任転嫁」は人間が一番最初に感染した霊的な病気です。以来、聖書の中に記されている人間の姿にこの霊的な病気は常に見受けられるようになりました。そしてそれ以来、人は諸々の身体に害を及ぼす伝染病を撲滅してきましたが、この霊的な病はすっかり私達の間に定着し、今も世界中いたるところでこの「責任転嫁」は増え広がり、そこからさらに問題は倍々に増え続けています。
私達が抱える問題には原因があり、その原因が分からなければ問題の解決はありません。そして、その原因を検証するにあたり、特にその問題が自分が関わることであるのなら、まず検証すべきは自分自身でありましょう。実際にアダム・イブ以来、「責任転嫁」という病により、問題の原因にいたることなく放置されている未解決の問題が私達の周りには無数にあるのです。その問題の原因はいつも自分以外のことであるために、その問題の核心に私達は近づくことができないのかもしれません。
問題のある車を運転したい人はいないでしょう。その問題を見つけ、解決して安心して運転したいでしょう。いいえ、そのような車で運転すべきです。それは自らの命に、また同乗する者達の命に係わることだからです。そのためには私達はまず、自らの問題の核心をしっかりと見極める必要があります。それではどうしたらいいのでしょうか・・・。

光と医者なる主の前に

私達がシリーズとして見ております箴言にはこのような言葉があります。『乳をしめれば凝乳が出る、鼻をしめれば血がでる、怒りをしめれば争いが起こる』箴言３０章３２節、３３節
自然の理がここには書かれています。牛の乳もしぼれば乳が出ます。その乳に圧力がかかり、そのかかった圧力により、乳の中の凝乳が押し出されるからです。鼻も殴れば血が出ます。鼻に力が加わり、鼻の内部の皮膚が切れてしまうからです。そして私達が互いに怒れば、そこには争いが起こります。怒っている人が誰かを怒れば、その人も怒り、やがては争いとなるからです。
これらの言葉は何を言っているのでしょうか。この世界の出来事には「原因」があり、その「結果」があるということではないでしょうか。
地球の温度が年々、上がっていることには二酸化炭素の排出や広大な森林が日々、失われているという原因があります。車のタイヤがパンクすることにも、タイヤに釘がささって、そこから空気が漏れているという原因があります。夫婦の間に生じる問題にも、何かしらの原因がその背後にあります。子供の学校の成績が思わしくない、よくよく探究してみれば、そのことにも原因があることでしょう。
似たような言葉に「因果応報」という言葉があります。この言葉はもともと仏教の言葉で「良い行いをすれば良い報いがあり、悪い行いをすれば悪い報いがある」ということを意味しますが、今、見ております箴言の言葉は因果応報とは違い、ただシンプルに物事には「原因」と「結果」があるということです。
問題を解決するためには、その原因を突き止めることが大切です。車のタイヤがパンクしているのなら、言うまでもないタイヤを調べるべきであり、ボンネットを開けてクーラント液の有無を調べはしません。夫婦の間に問題があるのなら朝のニュースの中にその原因を探すのではなく、互いの関係の中にある問題が何なのかを話し合うべきです。子供の学校の成績が問題であるのなら、その子が熱中しているゲーム会社を訴えるのではなくて、その子の生活習慣に目を向けるべきでしょう。
生きることはイコール、日々、問題に直面することです。問題は必ず起こります。肝心なのはその原因を見つけることです。もし、その原因を突き止め、それに対処できるのならやがてその問題は改善されることでしょう。しかし、その原因を見出だすことができずに、本来、その原因ではないものを原因としているのなら、いつまでもその問題はそこにあり続けることでしょう。
今朝も私達は何かしらの問題を抱えていることでしょう。その問題解決に取り組んでいることでしょう。そこで私達が確認したいことはその問題の原因を私達はしっかりととらえているかということです。そこでまず、時に私達がその原因を見誤ってしまう大きな理由となっていること、「自分を見つめる」ということについてお話しましょう。
自分を見つめる
私には公言していることがあります。牧師となり１８年が経ちましたが、その間に悟ったことです。それは、私にはどうしても分からないことが二つあるということです。それは私にはうかがい知りえないことです。まず第一、それは私が属しているこのサンディエゴ教会以外の「教会」のことです。そして二つ目は私達夫婦以外の「夫婦」のことです。もちろんどの教会も夫婦もその様を見聞きすることはできますし、実際にその教会の牧師や教会の方達、そして私の周りにいるご夫妻と話しをすることはできます。しかし、私にはその教会のことやそのご夫妻のことは何も分かっていません。このことを悟ってから、私は個人的にこの二つに関しては安易に「ああだ、こうだ」とは言わないように気をつけています。私達の「見た目」と「実際」は違うからです。
これら私には知りえない二つのことに加えて、最近、またもう一つ、ここに私が知りえないことが加わろうとしています。それは何を隠そう「自分自身」のことです。自分のことは自分が一番、よく分かっているといいながら、実は自分のこともよく分かっていないのではないかと思うのです。まさしくイエス様が血だらけになって十字架の上で私達のために父なる神様に願って下さったとおりです『父よ、彼らをおゆるしください。彼らは何をしているか自分で分からないのです』（ルカ２３章３４節）。
一例をあげましょう。それは人類最初の人間にさかのぼります。その人の名前はアダム、神が一番最初に造られた人間です。彼のあばら骨から彼の妻、イブが造られました。世界最初の夫婦です。神様はこの夫婦をエデンの園と呼ばれる豊かな土地に住まわせ、そこに生えている全ての木からなる実を取って食べていいが、ただ園の中央にある木になる実からは食べてはならないと言われたのです。言うまでもなく彼らはその実を食べずとも十分に自らを養うことができました。しかし、最終的に彼らはその実に手を伸ばし、それを口に入れたのです。
検証します。誰が実を食べましたか。その実を食べるか否か、誰が指導権をもっていましたか。アダム自身であり、イブ自身です。彼らは無理やり、手足を縛られ口を開けられ、実を食べたのではないのです。彼らは自分でそれを口に運んだのです。「禁じられていた実を食べてしまった」ということを結果とするなら、原因は何ですか。原因は「自らその実を口に運んだ自分」です。
しかし、彼らの言い分は違いました。自分が実を食べてしまったという結果に対して、彼らはそれとは異なる原因を主張しているのです。神様に問われたアダムは言いました『わたしと一緒にしてくださったあの女が、木から取ってくれたので、わたしは食べたのです』（創世記３章１２節）イブは言いました『蛇がわたしをだましたのです。それでわたしは食べました』（創世記３章１３節）。アダムは自分が実を食べた原因はイブを自分に与えた神と自分にその実を勧めたイブにあり、イブは自分が実を食べた原因は彼女にその実を勧めた蛇にあったと主張するのです。そして、彼らがそのことを主張している限り、それは明らかに彼らの問題の原因ではありませんから、この問題の解決にはならず、彼らはこの問題を未解決のまま園を追われて出ていくのです。
後に彼らからは二人の息子、カインとアベルが生まれますが、兄カインは弟に対する妬みと憎しみ、怒りゆえに彼を打ち、殺してしまいます。なぜ人類二代目にしてこのような兄弟となってしまったのでしょうか。もしかしたら、彼らの父母、アダムとイブが実を食べてしまったということに対して、その原因を己が過ちとして、あの時に悔い改めていたのなら、すなわち、その問題の原因をしっかりと彼らが認識していたのなら、このような悲劇は生まれなかったかもしれません（明らかにあの問題の後に夫婦の間に不信感が生まれたはずで、それは夫婦の関係をぎくしゃくさせたことでしょう）。

イエス・キリストに出会う
イエス様はかつてご自身についてこう言われました『医者を必要とするのは丈夫な者ではなく、病人です』（マタイ９章１２節）。またこうも言われました『わたしは世の光である。わたしに従って来る者は、やみのうちを歩くことがなく、命の光をもつであろう』。（ヨハネ８章１２節）。
「医者を必要とするのは丈夫な者ではなく、病人です」という言葉にはイエス様ご自身が「医者」だということをほのめかしています。これはイエス・キリストが内科医、外科医であったということではなく、私達の魂の問題を取り扱う医者だということです。また文字通り、イエス様はご自身を世の光だと言われ、この光をもつものは闇のうちを歩くことがないと言われました。
歯医者さんに行きますとこの二つのことがよく分かります。私達が歯医者さんに行くと、私達は椅子に寝かされ口を開けます。そうしますと頭上にまぶしい光が照らされ、私達の口の中があらわになります。詳しいことは分かりませんが、歯医者さんのいうことを聞いておりますと、私達の歯には一つ一つ専門的な呼び名があるようで、歯医者さんはその一つ一つの歯を名を呼びながら診察してくれます。歯の外見のみならず、時にはレントゲンも取り、その土台となっている歯茎、その歯の前も後ろもくまなく見てくれます。そして、そこに虫歯や問題を見つけていくのです。
虫歯を発見してくれる歯医者に私達は感謝します。それを見つけることができないのなら歯医者にはなれないことでしょう。歯を見ておりながら、あなたが今、抱えている歯の痛みはあなたが聞いている音楽がよくないのですよとか、それは大統領が変わったからですよと言う歯医者を私達は信頼しません。たとえバッドニュースであっても、その問題を解決するために、その問題を突き止め、それを指摘してくれる医者を私達は信じるのです。
医者は患者の病の原因を見つける人です。イエス様と出会うということは、このキリストの光に照らされて私達の問題に光をあててもらうということです。骨折をしているのに絆創膏をはって処置したり、内臓で悪性の腫瘍が進行しているのにサプリメントを飲んで治そうとしていた、私達の問題の根源にこのお方は光をあてるのです。
ヨハネによる福音書には（４章）、皆さんもよく御存じの出来事が記録されています。イエス様は昼下がり、サマリアのスカルの井戸辺で一人の女と出会いました。場所は今日の中東、その日差したるや大変なものだったことでしょう。真夏のラスベガスやデスバレーがそうであるようにかの中東で、昼間に炎天下にいることは危険です。そんなことは当時のその地域の住人達も十分に承知で、彼らは陽が傾きかける頃に水を汲みに来るのを常としています。しかし、この女は炎天下のもと、水を汲みにやってきたのです。
なぜでしょうか。彼女には人とあまり出会いたくない理由があったようです。そんな折、その井戸辺でイエス様と出会い、二人の間に会話が始まります。その中で突如、イエス様は突拍子もないことを言います『あなたの夫を呼びに行って、ここに連れてきなさい』（ヨハネ４章１６節）。
この一言は彼女が一番、触れてほしくはない質問でした。彼女はそのことを触れられたくないがために、人目を避けて炎天下に水を汲みにきたのです。しかし、イエス様は彼女との会話の間中、その光により、彼女の心を診断していたかのようにして、彼女と初対面であるにもかかわらず、その心の奥底にある問題の核心に単刀直入、踏み込んだのです。なぜなら、そこに光をあてない限り、彼女はいつまでも人目を避けて生きる生涯を送らなければならないからです。
彼女は答えました「わたしには夫はありません」イエス様はその言葉を受け止めて言われました「夫がないと言ったのは、もっともだ。あなたには五人の夫があったが、今のはあなたの夫ではない。あなたの言葉のとおりである」（ヨハネ４章１７節、１８節）。
それまでは触れられたくない、隠そうとしていた問題。しかし、その問題に光が照らされました。おそらく彼女の出会った男たちには様々な問題があったことでしょう。しかし、その問題を全て彼らだけに押しつけ、自分は何と不幸なのだと嘆いていたのでは、彼女は本当の解決にいたることはなかったことでしょう。なぜなら人と人との関係は常に相手があり、自分があるからです。
魂の医者なるイエス様は、その光をもって彼女の心の底にある闇を照らしました。しかし、それは「暴露する」というようなものではなく、この女はその光の温かさを感じ取ったのでしょう、「このままあなたは生きていくのか」と彼女のことを真剣に考えてくださるイエス様の愛に触れ、それまで誰に対しても決して開けることのなかった、固く閉ざされていたその彼女の心の扉を開いたのでしょう。
扉が解き放たれた彼女はどうしたのでしょうか。それまで隠れるように生きていた彼女は町に出ていき、自分の問題に光をあててくれた方のことを大声で伝えたのです。その時に彼女は街中で何と叫んだのですか。ヨハネは記しています。
『この人は、わたしのしたことを何もかも言い当てた』（ヨハネ４章３９節）。
彼女は「この人は私の夫たちがわたしにしたことを何もかも言い当てた」とは言いませんでした。もしかしたら、それまではその思いだけに縛られていたのでしょう。憎むべき人が一人ではなく、五人も、六人もいるのですから、十二分に彼らに対する怒りと憎しみだけで日々を送ることができたでしょう。そして、それは決して彼女を幸いにすることはなかったことでしょう。しかし、イエスに己の心を照らされた彼女は言ったのです。
「この人はわたしのしたことを何もかも言い当てた」と！英語では“He told me everything I ever did.”と書かれています。彼女が”He told me everything they ever did to me”と言わなかったこと、ここに彼女が問題の原因をキリストによって示され、長年、彼女が抱えていた問題から解放された証しがあります。まことに、まことにイエス様は彼女を闇の中から救い出されたのです。
パウロは第二コリント５章１７節で言っています『誰でもキリストにあるならば、その人は新しく造られた者である。古いものは過ぎ去った、見よ、すべてが新しくなったのである』「キリストにあるならば」というのは、すなわち「もし私達が医者なるお方の光に己が心を照らされるならば」ということなのです。
今から６０年も昔、私の母はクリスチャンとなりました。あまりにも嬉しくて、親に伝道をしました。やがて私の祖母はクリスチャンとなりました。しかし、私の祖父はなかなか大変でした。大工の棟梁をしていた祖父はお酒が大好きで泥酔して、大声をあげて近所の人達が寝静まっているような時に夜な夜な家に帰るような生活を送っていたのです。
祖母は夫のことで悩んだに違いありません。彼が玄関先で着のみ着ままで酔っぱらって寝込んでしまっている。靴を脱がせ、床に連れていき、時には近所の人たちに謝らなければならない。普通で考えますのなら、決して夫として敬うことができるような姿ではありませんでしょう。私にはうかがい知れませんが、夫婦の間にも色々な問題があったことでしょう。しかし、クリスチャンになって彼女はある時、そんな祖父を前にして心から謝ったそうです「あなたが夜な夜な飲まずには家に帰ることができなかったのは私が悪かったのです」。祖父母の間にどんなことがあったのか私には分かりません。そして、祖母の心の中で何が起きたのかも私には分かりません。しかし、きっと彼女はイエス・キリストの光によってその心の何かが照らされ、そして、医者なるイエス・キリストによって彼女の問題が示されたのでしょう。以後、徐々にですが祖父の心は変わり、彼はやがてクリスチャンとなり、母に看取られて御国に帰りました。
「この人は今日も帰ってこない。どこで飲んでいるのやら。幼子もいるのに全て私に押しつけて」。「あの人はもう治らない」などと愛想をつかしていたことでしょう。そして、そのような思いはやがて憎しみや怒りと変わり、その感情と共に人生は終わったかもしれません。しかし、イエス様はそのあわれみゆえに祖母の心に光をあててくださったのです。
私達は今、訴訟大国、アメリカに暮らしています。訴訟とはすなわち自分を正しいものとし、あなたが間違っているということを裁判で問うていくことです。たとえ自分に落ち度や過ちはあってもそれは口に出さず、相手の過ちを事細かに見つけ出しては表ざたにすることにより判決の勝敗は決められていきます。判決による白黒はでるでしょう。しかし、必ずしもその判決がその裁判の根本的な問題の解決をしているかといいますと、決してそうではありません。
皆さん、今日のメッセージはもしかしたらある方には不快に思われるものであったかもしれません。心地よいということを考えましたら、決して心地よい話ではなかったかと思います。しかし、今日、お話しましたことは私達が抱えている問題を解決するために誰しもがまず取りかかるべき、まず最初のことであり、次にさらなる検証をするべきだと信じます。
歯医者で虫歯を抜かれたり、歯を削られることは痛みが伴いますし、嫌なことです。しかし、歯医者で横に寝かされた時に私達は心に願うのです。お医者さん、しっかりとその明かりで私の痛みの原因を照らし出して、そこに触れてください。わたしはもうあの痛みと共に暮らしたくはありませんから。
私達が今、抱えている問題は何でしょうか。その問題の本当の原因は何でしょうか。「このことゆえに」と思っているものが私達にはあるでしょうか。そのことゆえに常に心の中に怒りや嘆きがあり、その苦々しい思いはなくなることなくいつまでも心の中にないでしょうか。
もしそうなら、もう一度、自分に問いかけてみましょう、それは本当にその問題の原因なのかと。もし、本当にそれがその問題の原因であるのなら、その解決に向けて、続けて取り組みましょう。しかし、もしそうではないのなら、今一度、私達の魂の医者であるイエス・キリストが照らす光の前に自ら出てみようではありませんか。来週は私達が抱える問題の原因について、また別の角度から光をあててみたく願っております。お祈りしましょう。
Before the Lord, our light, our doctor

The Proverb chapter 30, verse 33, “For as churning cream produces butter, and as twisting the nose produced blood, so stirring up anger produces strife.” It is about the natural relation of cause and effect. For as pressing milk produces curds, and pressing the nose produces blood, so pressing anger produces strife.
What is insight of the word? It tells us about “cause” and “effect” of this world.
Global warming has been caused by increasing of CO2 discharged and lost forests. A flat tire is caused by nail in the tire and leaking air. There is something behind a married couple’s problem. Bad grade of your child at school? There should also be something behind that.
We have similar words for it in Japanese, “Inga-Oh-ho”. This “Inga-Oh-ho” originally comes from Buddhism words. It means if you do good things, you would get good rewards, and if you do something bad, you would get bad rewards. This chapter in the proverbs, we are looking into now, does not mean the same as “Inga-Oh-ho”, but simply saying “cause” and “effect”.
It is important for us to find out the cause to solve our problems. If you have a flat tire, you should check the tire. You don’t want to open the bonnet to check the coolant. If you have relationship problems between you and your spouse, you don’t want to find out the reasons of your marriage problem in the morning news on the TV, but you should talk with your spouse to figure out the issues in your relationship. If your child got a bad grade at school, you don’t want to sue the game company that your child is crazy about, but check your child’s daily routines and habits.
Living is facing problems everyday. Problems happen to us daily. The most important point is to find out the “cause”, “the reason why”. If you can find out “the reason why” and deal with that, your problem will be improved. However, if you cannot find out “the true reason why”, and you take another thing as the cause, you will never be able to get over the problems.
Even this morning, right now, some of you have issues, and are trying hard to overcome your issues. This morning, what I want to make clear is if you understand your true problem or not. To make sure, let us talk about checking ourselves. We often miss the true reason of our issues, unless we search inside our heart in Him.
Search inside our heart
It has been eighteen years since I became a pastor. In those years, I’ve found two things that I would not be able to completely comprehend. One of them is that I would not be able to fully grasp about other churches other than the church that I serve at. The other one is that I would not be able to understand completely about other people’s marriage other than my marriage. Of course, I could try to understand somewhat by observing them or asking them some questions. However, I would not be able to do so completely. Since I’ve learn this, I always try not to judge anything easily. It is just simply what we see or hear does not necessarily reflects what they really are.
In addition these two things, I put one more thing in my “I don’t know” list lately. This is about “myself”. We say that “I know about myself most”, however, I came to think that I know myself least. Literally, as Jesus prayed for us on the cross, Luke chapter 23:34, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”
One Example. Dating back to the first man and woman in our history. His name is Adam, the very first man who God made. Then God made his wife from Adam’s rib bone, named Eve. They were the first married couple in the world according to the Bible. God put them in milky, rich land called “The garden of Eden”. God allowed them to pick up any fruits of trees except one tree in the Garden. Needless to say, they could nurture themselves without eating the fruits of the tree. However, they reached out for the fruit and ate it.
Let’s think about it. Who ate the fruit? Who made the decision to eat it or not? That was Adam, himself and Eve, herself. They were not forced to eat it. They ate it by themselves. If we say, the effect is that “they ate forbidden fruit”, then what is the “cause”? The cause is “themselves who ate it.”
However, they insisted on differently. They insisted on different cause and effect why they ate it. Adam answered God, “The Woman you put here with me –She gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it” Genesis 3:12. Eve said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” Genesis 3:13. Adam insisted on the cause that is because Eve gave it to Adam. Eve insisted on the cause that is because a serpent deceived her. As long as they insist on this, they are not able to see their true problem. So they could not solve the real problem. They were placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden without solving the true problem.
Later on, Adam and Eve had two sons, named Cain and Abel. Older brother, Cain murdered Abel, his younger brother. That murder was caused by Cain’s jealousy, hatred, and anger. Why did they become such horrible brothers? They were only second generation out from the first married couple in history. If their parents, Adam and Eve acknowledged what they did as their own sin, and repented before God, it would not had happened. I am guessing after that had happened to them, they lost trust each other and made them miserable as a married couple.
Casting blame on others or (passing the buck), so to speak. This is the very first spiritual disease. Since then, we can find this spiritual disease all over the Bible. We have been stamping out epidemic diseases. But, this “spiritual disease, to cast blame on others” has been expanding all over the world. And our problems are increasing more and more in this world caused by this disease.
There is “the cause” for each problem. And if we don’t know the cause, we are not able to solve the problem. When you think of the problem you have, if it concerns yourself, you should look into yourself. Actually, since Adam and Eve, there are numberless unsolved problems around us caused by that spiritual disease, “passing the buck”. We are not able to reach to the core of the problem because we tend to think the cause is some other person or things
Nobody want to drive a car with trouble. You want to find out what causes trouble and fix it, then you want to drive the fixed car. Yes, you must drive a car in good condition. Because it will affect your life and passenger’s life seriously by the car you drive. What should we do to drive the car in good condition, then? Now I am talking about the second thing. It is to “encounter Jesus Christ.”
Encounter Jesus Christ
In Matthew chapter9 verse12, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.” And also in John chapter8 verse12, Jesus said “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
“It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick”, that means Jesus describes himself as a doctor. It does not mean He was a physician or a surgeon, but is spiritual doctor. And also literally, Jesus said He is the light of the world and whoever follows Him will never walk in darkness.
If you go to a dentist, you understand well about these two things. When we go to a dentist, we lie down on the chair and open our mouth. Then we are lighted by a very shining light to check in our mouth. I don’t understand their technical terms, but the doctor checks each of our teeth by using their technical terms. They check not only surface of our teeth but also the gums, the roots of our teeth. Sometimes they use X-ray to check inside of our teeth to find out bad root canal of our teeth.
We are grateful for our dentist to find our bad teeth and fix them. If they cannot find out them, they would not be able to be a dentist. If your dentist says “Your toothache is caused by the music that you listen to” or “it is because our president changed, that is why you have a toothache”, do you trust the dentist like that? We trust a doctor, because they tell us the real problem we have, even it is a bad news for us.
The Doctor’s mission is to find out the cause of the patient’s disease. To encounter Jesus means to open yourself and ask Jesus to light on your each cause of your problems in His presence. You don’t want to put a band-aid, when you’ve got a broken arm. You don’t want to have supplement pills to try to be healed when you got an aggressive tumor. Jesus came to light on us to reveal our roots of the issues.
Let us think about a story of a woman in John chapter4. Jesus came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, Jacob’s well was there. Jesus encountered this woman at the Jacob’s well under the blazing sun. The place is located in today’s middle east. We imagine how the strong sunshine was stinging! It must be even dangerous to be under such a strong sunshine, like a mid-summer in Las Vegas or Death valley. That is why the majority of the people came to there to get water when the sun starts going down. But, this woman came to get water under the blazing sun.
Why? She has a reason why she does not want to meet people. But she met Jesus by the well. Jesus talked to this woman. And all of sudden, in the midst of their conversation, Jesus told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.” John, chapter4:16
That was a last question she wanted to hear. She did not want anybody to ask that to her, that is why she came to get water under the blazing sun. However, Jesus cut to her core issue by His light. Because she only could walk in alleys to avoid people unless she is lighted by Jesus.
She replied, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.”
Her hidden issue was that she never wanted to be touched by anyone. But Jesus enlightened her on her hidden issue. I’m guessing that men who had relationships with her, might have a lot of problems. But if she had stayed stuck in the victims mindset, had kept blaming those jerks who had abused her, she would not have been able to overcome her true issue. Because both sides have something to say in any personal relationship.
Jesus, the spiritual doctor lightened her darkness in the bottom of her heart by asking, “Do you keep living the same way so far?” The question from Jesus, it was a “break-through” for her to open the door of the darkest area of her heart which was never opened for anyone before. Jesus came into her, her deep inside to touch her and to heal her by His Agape love.
After Jesus had opened the door of her heart, what did she do? That woman who lived in shame and guilt, she went out in town to speak about her savior who lighted her issue to heal her. What did she shout about? We can see in the John Capter 4, verse 39. “He told me everything I ever did.”
She did not say that “This man told me everything they ever did to me.”
She might had been captured by the thought how her husbands abused her. She did not have only one jerk who she hated but five or more. I guess she had reason enough to spend time every day by just chewing on the bitterness towards them. And that bitterness never brought her peace. But she declared after being enlightened by His agape love, “He told me everything I ever did.” Literally, she simply said, “He told me everything I ever did.” She never said “He told me everything they ever did to me.” That is the key sentence that testifies to her salvation by Jesus. Truly, truly, Jesus lifted her up from the bottom of her darkness to set her free.
Second Corinthians, chapter 5, verse 17, Paul said, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” ”In Christ?”, “What do you mean by that? “In Christ” means that we are enlightened by Jesus, our spiritual doctor.
My mother decided to follow Jesus 60 years ago. She became so happy and excited and started to share about God with her parents. Soon after her mother became a Christian. However, it was really difficult for her father to do so. He was the head of carpenters and loved to drink alcohol. He used to come home late really drunk. Furthermore, often times his sleeping neighbors were woken up by his loud drunken voice.
My grandmother must have suffered so much from this. She helped him removed his shoes, changing his clothes, and apologizing to their neighbors on his behalf whenever her husband came back drunk.
There were probably some other issues between them. However, my grandmother who was a Christian chose to stay faithful to her husband. She also apologized him for not being able to provide a home that he feels wanted to come home after work. She must have received much needed wisdom and strength from God. God was there to intervene in their marriage. Over the years, thanks to my grandmother’s love and grace, my grandfather started to change and finally he accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and went to heaven.
She could have complained and became disrespectful to him saying “Why don’t you come home early?” or “Where are you drinking tonight?” or “I am the only one who raises our small children” or You will not be able to change yourself ever.” And those thoughts could have led to bitterness and anger over him. However, my grandmother decided to stay faithful to her husband and God. And God was merciful enough to show my grandmother a light and hope in the midst of darkness.
We live in a country where people try to sue on a daily base. People sue each other to proof that they are right. Most of law suits are done by scrutinizing other people’s mistake. However, even if we are able to rule out who is right or not, often time it would not necessarily solve the root of the problem.
The message from today might make some of you feel uncomfortable. However, the message tells us very important steps to take in order to solve the root of most of our problems.
In order for the dentist to fix our dental problem, they may have to pull out the root canal of teeth or drill into our decayed teeth. Often time it causes some level of pain and discomfort. However, we all trust our dentist enough to let them touch the painful part and hope that the pain will be removed. Because we don’t really want to live with the pain anymore.
What kind of problem do we have in our lives? What really did cause the problem? Do you have something that you can’t really let go of? It is causing bitterness and anger in your life? If this is the case, let’s invite Christ to reveal our condition of heart and ask him to show us how we can deal with the situation in His way. I will talk about our heart issue from the other angle. ３）あなたは自分のことがよく分かっていますか。なぜ自分のことを知るのは難しいのでしょうか。イエス様は十字架上で『父よ、彼らをおゆるしください。彼らは何をしているか自分で分からないのです』（ルカ２３章３４節）と言われました。全ての人にこの言葉が語られているとしたら、私達は何を分からずにいるのでしょうか。
４）創世記３章１節－１３節を読みましょう。アダムとイブが禁断の実を食べてしまったその責任は誰にありますか。なぜ私達は責任転嫁をするのでしょうか。私達の抱える問題の原因がこの責任転嫁により、見えなくなっているということはどれくらいありますか。
５）あなたは病院で診察される時、医者に何を願いますか。イエス様は私達の魂の医者であり（マタイ９章１２節）、また光なるお方であるのなら（ヨハネ８章１２節）、私達がイエス様に願うことは何でしょうか。
６）ヨハネ４章を読みましょう。なぜ、イエス様はこのサマリアの女に『あなたの夫を呼びに行って、ここに連れてきなさい』（ヨハネ４章１６節）と聞いたのでしょうか。
７）なぜ、心の中にある問題の核心に触れることはその解決のために必要なのですか。その核心をイエス様の前に差し出すことによって私達は何を得ますか。
８）この女はイエス様と出会い、町に出ていき『この人は、わたしのしたことを何もかも言い当てた』（ヨハネ４章３９節）といいました。「わたしのしたことを・・・」と彼女が言ったことにはどんな大切な意味がありますか。
