しかし、興味深いことにイエス様は、たとえ弟子達の前を去らねばならなくなっても、彼らを置き去りにしませんでした。イエス様はヨハネ１４章１８節において「私はあなたがたを捨てて孤児にはしません。わたしは、あなたがたのところに戻ってくるのです」と言われました・・・。

聖霊を意識して生きる
ローマ人への手紙８章１節―１１節

1こういうわけで、今やキリスト・イエスにある者は罪に定められることがない。2なぜなら、キリスト・イエスにあるいのちの御霊の法則は、罪と死との法則からあなたを解放したからである。3律法が肉により無力になっているためになし得なかった事を、神はなし遂げて下さった。すなわち、御子を、罪の肉の様で罪のためにつかわし、肉において罪を罰せられたのである。4これは律法の要求が、肉によらず霊によって歩くわたしたちにおいて、満たされるためである。5なぜなら、肉に従う者は肉のことを思い、霊に従う者は霊のことを思うからである。6肉の思いは死であるが、霊の思いは、いのちと平安とである。7なぜなら、肉の思いは神に敵するからである。すなわち、それは神の律法に従わず、否、従い得ないのである。8また、肉にある者は、神を喜ばせることができない。9しかし、神の御霊があなたがたの内に宿っているなら、あなたがたは肉におるのではなく、霊におるのである。もし、キリストの霊を持たない人がいるなら、その人はキリストのものではない。10もし、キリストがあなたがたの内におられるなら、からだは罪のゆえに死んでいても、霊は義のゆえに生きているのである。11もし、イエスを死人の中からよみがえらせたかたの御霊が、あなたがたの内に宿っているなら、キリスト・イエスを死人の中からよみがえらせたかたは、あなたがたの内に宿っている御霊によって、あなたがたの死ぬべきからだをも、生かしてくださるであろう。
この箇所を注意深く読まれる方はあることに気がつかれたのではないかと思います。すなわち、このパウロが書き記しましたローマ人への手紙８章１節ー１１節の間には肉という言葉が９回も記されているということです。
ここに記されている日本語聖書で言いますところの「肉」、また英語聖書がいうところの「FLESH」という言葉ですが、この言葉は新約聖書の原語であるギリシア語では「サルクス：Σαρξ」と言い、このサルクスという言葉が用いられる時、それらは私達の肉を表すとともに、私達人間の「弱さ、無力、頼りなさ」を意味します。すなわち、諸々の試みや誘惑を前にしてそれらに対抗することが出来ない人間の罪の性質をもこのサルクスは意味しています。
そして、その肉なる人間の姿というものを赤裸々に書き記したものが先週見た７章のパウロの心内なのです。その７章では何と「わたし」という言葉が３１回も書かれており、まさしくその章は「私の欲している善はしないで、欲していない悪を行っている（１９）。わたしはなんという惨めな人間なのだろうか（２４）」というような肉の欲に悩むパウロ自身の心が描かれています。
しかし、転じてこの８章全体になりますと計２４回も「霊」について触れられているのです。そういう意味では７章と８章は「肉」と「霊」のコントラストがよくなされているといえます。
実に７章には「私は自分の欲する善を行わないで、悪を行っている。このみじめな私を誰が救ってくれるだろうか」というパウロの嘆きと叫びが書かれており、それに対してガラリと８章の一番最初の言葉は「今やキリスト・イエスにある者は罪に定められることがない」で始まり、その終わりは「どんな被造物も私達の主キリスト・イエスにおける神の愛から私達を引き離すことはできないのである」と締めくくられているのです。
すなわち、このことは私達の罪と欲との戦いは何によって抗していけばいいのかというと、それは霊の働きによる以外にないということをパウロはここで言っているのであります。
「霊」というと私達日本人はまず「幽霊とかお化け」を思い出します。しかし、おもに聖書でいうところの「霊」とは「聖霊」を意味します。これは神の霊ということで、それは私達の目には見えません。しかし、確かに神の霊が私達の間にあるというのが聖書が言うところなのです。今日はこの聖書に記されている聖霊について、そのイントロダクションをお話したいと願っています。「イントロダクション」と言いましたのはこの聖霊のはたらきというは多岐にわたっていますので、それをこのメッセージだけでは語りえないので、その続きはまた来週、お話しさせていただきます。

また、まさしく弟子たちと目に見える形では最期の別れとなる時に、イエス・キリストはこんな約束もされました「ただ、聖霊があなた方に下る時、あなたがたは力を受けて、エルサレム、ユダヤとサマリアの全土、さらに地の果てまで、わたしの証人となるであろう」。使徒行伝１章８節
すなわち、イエス様が「私達を孤児とはさせない」と言われたその約束は何によって実現されるのかというと聖霊によって、そのことがなされるということなのです。
さらにエバンジェリスト、ビリーグラハムはかつて言いました。人間には大きな霊的な飢え乾きがある。その一つは「善なるもの」への飢え乾きであり、意識的に、あるいは無意識のうちに、私達の魂はこのことを求めていると。
そして神は既にこの私達の乾き、すなわち善を求める切なる声に対して応えておられます。すなわち神は私達が信仰によってキリストのもとに来ておきながら、敗北、失意、不和の生涯を送ることを望んではおられないということです。
そして、これらのことを可能にするためにも神は私達に聖霊という大いなる賜物を与えてくださったのです。私達を捕らえている弱さから、すなわちパウロがローマ書７章で嘆いているような惨めな敗北感から逃れたいと言う求めに答える力の源が聖霊なのです。聖霊は真に私達に善をなしうる力を与えてくださるのです。
現代の世界に生きていこうとするなら、勝利の生涯を送る人となりたいのなら、神が提供された聖霊による私達の内にはたらくみわざが必要なのです。
もし、私達がイエスを信じ、そしてそのキリストが約束された聖霊の力に私達が寄り頼んでいくならば、私達は自分の生涯のあらゆる歩み、結婚、家族関係、仕事、育児、対人関係を変えることのできる力を、私達は持つことができるのです。
でも、残念なことに、この力ほど無視され、誤解され、誤用されてきたものはありません。私達の無知によって、聖霊の力は妨げられてきてました。私達は今一度、この聖霊による力を私達の内に取り戻さなければなりません。
私達の人生、それを知って生きるのか、知らぬままに生きるのかということで大きな違いをもたらすものです。「聖霊の働き」を知らずに生きるのは、車にはエンジンがあり、私達はその車によってたくさんの可能性を得ることができますのに、そのことを知らずに動かない車に乗って一つ所でじっとしているようなものです。
ですから私達の人生に直接的に関わっておられる聖霊の働きを私達はもっと知り、その働きが私達の生活の中にさらに力強くなされますように祈り、願おうではありませんか。そうする時に私達の生活は必ず変わります。
ここまで今日は聖霊についてそのイントロダクションをお話ししました。このことは聖書のメッセージの中で最も大切なことの一つであり、申し上げましたようにこの一回の礼拝ではお話しし尽くすことができません。ゆえにこの「聖霊」につきましては来週、またお話ししたいと思います。お祈りしましょう。
天のお父様、あなたが私達にして下さった約束を感謝します。そして、その約束の聖霊が今日も私達を教え、励まし、導いていて下さることを感謝します。どうかこの聖霊に寄り頼む人生を送らせて下さい。主イエス・キリストの御名によってお祈りします。アーメン
Being aware Holy Spirit
Romans 8:1-11
8 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
As you read these verses carefully, I assume you notice these verses mentions the words “Flesh” nine times in here Roman chapter 8 which was written by Paul.
The Japanese Bible and the English Bible is talking about “flesh” right here, and according to the Greek, which is NT original words, the flesh is SALKUS (Σαρξ) in Greek, and when SALKUS is used in the NT, that also means our weakness, powerless and unreliable. These things are our nature of resistless to our trials and temptations. Yes, the SALKUS is the meaning of our sinful nature.
And as we had seen last Sunday, Paul describe the flesh mankind as he revealed his mind plainly in previous chapter, Romans 7, and in that chapter, he mentioned first personal pronoun “I” 31 times, and the chapter expressed his inner struggling by saying; “For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?”
But turn our eyes to whole chapter 8, Paul mentioned about “Spirit” twenty one times, so chapter 7 and chapter 8 is pretty contrasted by “Flesh” and “Spirit”.
Indeed Romans 7 write about Paul’s cry “For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?”, and chapter 8 begin with “there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus”, and the last was concluded with “neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord”.
Namely Paul teaches us how can we defy our greed, and Paul said that is done only by the works of Holy Spirit.
When we think about spirit in our mind, we remember ghost or spook but in the Bible, Spirit is most likely about Holy Spirit. The Spirit is the Spirit of God. Of course, we cannot see the Spirit, but surely the Bible said the Holy Spirit is always with us. Therefore, I would like to share about the introduction of the works of Holy Spirit today. The reason why I said “Introduction” is because the works of Holy Spirit is so many, so I am going to also preach about the Holy Spirit next week.
Some people consider Jesus as one of the greatest religious leader, but when we compare Jesus and other religious or philosophical leader by their “promise” to their disciples, we find very interesting thing. For example, the founder of Buddhism, Buddha said to his disciple “to be light of your own” on his last days. When Socrates drunk poison, his disciple cried “we will be orphans”. These religious and philosophical leader could not make promise like “I will not leave you alone” to their disciples when they have to leave them.
But interestingly, Jesus never let his disciple alone even though he had to leave. Jesus said in John 14:18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
Moreover, Jesus made promise at his last moment with his desciples in Acts 1:8; “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Namely Jesus’ promise “I will not leave you as orphans” will be accomplished by “Holy Spirit”.
Furthermore, the evangelist, Billy Graham once said All of us has spiritual thirst. One of the thirst is the thirst to pursuit goodness. We are seeking that goodness no matter we are conscious or unconscious.
God already responded the thirst which was to pursuit goodness. God does not want us to live with disappointment or failure after we came to Jesus with our faith.
And to make that possible, God gave us Holy Spirit. Namely the Holy Spirit is our source of power to release from our miserable weakness and failure like Paul mentioned Romans 7.
If we live in our world and live our life with victory, we need the work of Holy Spirit which take place within us.
If we believe in Jesus Christ and rely on the promised power of Holy Spirit, we will gain the strength to change our marriage, family and work relationship, child-rearing and any incident which happen in our life.
But unfortunately, for most of the time, we ignore, misunderstand and misuse the power of Holy Spirit. We have to regain the power of Holy Spirit.
Our life will be different by knowing or not knowing about the works of Holy Spirit. Without knowing the works of Holy Spirit is just like we do not know there is an engine in the car and because of that we just remain in the unmoving car. We will miss many possibility because we just do not know that.
Therefore, let us know the works of Holi Spirit and pray the Spirt will involve in our daily life. Our life will be changed when Holy Spirit is taking the initiative of life.
Today I talked about the introduction of the works of Holy Spirit. This is one of the most important message in the Bible, and I cannot explain that works by just one message, so I will continue next Sunday. Let us pray.
Heavenly father, we thank your promise which is Holy Spirit. We thank too Holy Spirit who always teach us, encourage us and guide us. May we rely our life on Him? We pray these things in precious Jesus name, amen.

６）繰り返し聖霊の必要性について聖書は語っておりますが、あなたは日常生活でどれだけこの「聖霊」を意識していますか。これからどのように生活すべきだと思いますか。
